Mini 64 - Class Trial!

"Upupupupu, look what we have here~! A gruesome murder of your fellow former classmate! Loved by all and everyone, the golden child Makoto Naegi..."

A person wearing a Monokuma costume has appeared in the doorway of the Headmaster's Office.

"It couldn't have gone better if I had planned it. You see, once all the extras were evacuated, I initiated the lockdown protocol. That's right, you're all trapped in the building, just like in the movies~! I had planned to lay down the rules for this real-life killing game now, but it seems someone took the initiative. Upupupupu, how convenient for me~! You all know how this goes, right? Look around and investigate... I'll be waiting for you in the Basement, errr, Trial Room! If you find the killer, I'll let you go! If you don't, the killer goes free while the rest of you get to stay here with me for another round~!"

The Monokuma-looking weirdo darts away. You're left to investigate on your own. After you've looked at all the places of interest, you head down to the elevator to the Basement, which was used as the Trial Room in the movies. You all know what this psychopath has in mind for you... a murder trial with your lives on the line. Monokuma is sitting on his judge's seat, waiting for you guys. Your other classmates are also here and can be interacted with, although their podiums are labelled 'Innocent' for some reason.

"Upupupupu, so who killed Naegi-kun, huh? Even I don't know the answer... but we've narrowed it down to the eight of you!"

Headmaster's Office

Makoto Naegi was found lying on the table of the Headmaster's Office. A ballpoint pen is sticking out of their left eye and their face is covered in paint. It appears they died without struggling back.

Fire in Art Storage

The room is charred black. The fire seems to have originated in what is now a pile of ash in the corner, next to what looks like the remains of some metallic device.

Missing Burner

There's a portable Bunsen burner missing from the Chem Lab. The burners come with timers for god-knows-why.

Love Letters

Two letters can be found in the Headmaster's Office. One near the victim, signed by Sayaka Maizono, asking Naegi to meet in the Headmaster's Office at A6. The other, near the door, signed by Makoto Naegi, asking Maizono to meet in the Headmaster's Office at A6.

Floors #2 and #5 were inaccessible today. Floors #1, #3 and #4 were usable for murder plan.

(Also, actions ended up not having a specific time tied to them. In sign-ups, I mentioned they'd be an hour long each, but this is not really reflected in the actions, so keep that in mind.)

"I see! So someone decided to surprise us with a game like our fantastically performed plays! With a twist of killing off the main character! Of course I, GUNDHAM TANAKA, will masterfully play his part! Let the trials begin!"

Gundham poses dramatically before the group, Devas posing with him.

"And naturally the first accusation goes to BYAKUYA TOGAMI!" He turns dramatically to the heir apparent before hesitating at the sight of two of them. Nevertheless he soldiers on. "As we all know, Byakuya has been jealous of the short ones lead casting so what better way to remove competition except through murder! Watch out, Hajime, you may be next!

"But most damning of all, as seen by power granted to me through my hellish birthright, is the ballpoint pen! We all know that was the weapon you brought... well... one of you."

[Peregrine]

"...You think I don't see what's happening here? No, I understand everything."




"Someone's trying to upstage me! Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair was a monument of modern cinema—and now some joker thinks they can come in and create a subpar, hackneyed, underground sequel?! I won't have it!!! Whoever produced this sham is gonna have hell to pay once I get in touch with my lawyer, I swear to—"




"...Ahem. Fine, I'll play your little game, so just watch and learn what the superior protagonist can do!"

"All investigations of the body and the Headmaster's office indicate the victim died without a struggle—but how? Being stabbed in the eye is hardly an attack you couldn't see coming. For whatever reason, Makoto was unable—or unwilling—to react to the attack. Could this have something to do with the paint on his face, or the letter he supposedly received from Sayaka earlier today? We should discuss this."

"I will take responsibility as heir to the Togami family. That ballpoint pen in Makoto's eye belongs to me. It must have been taken from me during the welcome speech, when the culprit took advantage of all of us bumping into each other from overcrowding."

[Magnus]

“Don’t leap to conclusions to quickly, Gundham! After all, why would any murderer here take such a bold move of killing with a weapon of their very own?”

“If I recall correctly, both Byakuya and… well, the other Byakuya, they both brought their own pens, didn’t they? So who exactly would you be suspicious of Gundham, unless you think they’re both involved with killing Makoto?”



”I will admit the circumstances are strange. Why choose a ballpoint pen of all things as a murder weapon? And what purpose did the paint serve? To blind Naegi, perhaps? I don’t believe it; the Arts Room was practically burned to ash, and that’s where the paint presumably came from. We’re missing something obvious, and the next step we take should be obvious.”



“Someone should interrogate Sayaka Miazono on why she would’ve written that letter, especially if the victim had written one in turn.”

Sayaka stood at the podium looking at everyone with a fabulous pink mask, since it's during such a pandemic as an idol she had to be safe but if she were to speak, it would be taken off.

"....."
 As she takes the sights of the trial room in, since in the movie, she did not have a chance to visit it.



"Makoto...is dead....and you think...I k-killed him? Just because of some letter?"

Tears are forming and streaming down her eyes as she said this.



"I...would never kill Makoto-kun, no matter what. I thought coming back here, I would be able to let him know about my feelings for him...I guess...I guess he'll never know now...."



"As for the letter, I have no take in writing it nor sending it. But I know...that who ever killed Makoto-kun has sent up the fire in the Art Room and written both the letters."

Just a few hours ago, during A3, I noticed you on the third floor, looking rather distressed. You seemed to be heading upstairs, to the fourth floor. Did something happen that caused you to act that way?"

"I am positive, I am a psychic, if you've forgotten. The reason why I said it is done by the culprit is two split us into two groups. One group where they are in to "help" to stop the Art Room fire, the other is making me alone so that I would definitely be suspicious because Makoto-kun is the victim. So if anyone of us is the culprit, they would likely have been in your group Hinata-kun."

"Yes...there is a reason for my distraught and it was brought by that busu , Kyoko. I was with Makoto at the Gymnatorium and was ready to let him know my feeling, but she pushed into me and acted like I pushed her as she lands on Makoto's arm. He then gave me a disapproving look and it...it broke my heart...hence why I ran."

First, you were the one to discover Makoto, is that correct? I'd like to hear your account of the events leading up to the discovery. And second, can you tell us more about how the letter written by Makoto found its way into your possession? That may provide a clue as to how Makoto received the other letter written by 'Sayaka' as well."

"An outstanding performance other-me. Trying to claim you were "Framed" by the killer in an attempt to dissuade accusations against yourself. Even coming forward with your missing pen, my my how kind of you to reveal that information."

He whips out his ballpoint pen and points it towards Twogami.

"But I don't buy a single word of it. And for one reason and one reason only; you're the Ultimate Imposter. Forging a signature or two would be child's play for you. Although I'm still on the fence as to whether you'd be stupid enough to kill with your own pen and claim you lost it.

I suppose we should figure out then...when was this murder committed? Personally I believe it happened during A6 as that's when our foolish Makoto Naegi was set to meet Sayaka Maizono, yet if that's the case then surely she would've seen the killer at least leaving the scene, correct?

Would it be possible that Sayaka and my Terrible Twosome were working together? Surely not."

"Ibuki thinks.... that there wasn't enough room for 2 protagonists!"



"Ah- wait, no. Ibuki saw Makoto be followed out the Gymnasium by someone Ibuki doesn't recognise!"

"Ibuki thinks that the pen is the murder weapon! Y'know, the thing that screams 'I AM THE MURDER WEAPON!'. Ibuki also thinks that the pen was used to write the letters!"

"What... no... that's not what happened at all." Kyoko speaks up and wipes a tear off her cheek. "I was in charge of setting up the movies in the Gymatorium, and was happy to see Makoto after such a long time. When I approached him, Sayaka violently pushed me. If it wasn't for Naegi-kun, who caught me in time, I don't know what could have happened... I- I can't believe he's dead..."

She pulls out a handkerchief and dramatically cries into it for a few seconds before continuing. She then lowers her voice and shoots daggers at Sayaka with her eyes.

"It's obvious to everyone here, that Sayaka has always been envious of my casting as the main heroine of the movies and my superior skills as an actress... Furthermore, she's a skank who has always had her eye on Naegi-kun, despite our special relationship. She is a liar and not to be trusted. For all we know, she killed Naegi-kun in a fit of jealous rage. H-how could you?"

"Actually, Kyoko, I think it makes sense to believe Sayaka's testimony. Er, at least regarding the letters. Doesn't it seem odd that both she and Makoto would write unsolicited letters to one another, requesting to meet at the same time and place with seemingly no prior planning? The likelier case is that a third party wrote both letters, intending to kill Makoto and use the prearranged meetup to frame Sayaka. Whatever your relationship, I don't think she can be rightfully accused at this point."

"I had a feeling you, in particular, would accuse me, Byakuya. As we share the same thought process, I had already come to the same conclusion as you. Though, fortunately, I already have an alibi to clear my name.

For two actions, I was with Mikan Tsumiki. And for another two actions, I was with Ibuki Mioda. Along with the first action in which we were all in the Cafeteria, my innocence is basically confirmed. I sincerely doubt you can describe a plan in which I committed this entire murder within A2 alone."
