I have a few things to say about Game 51, regarding my reasons for cancelling it as I have. I am personally unsure of whether we have, in the history of our site, cancelled a game for any reason, so I will provide several reasons and hope to have the understanding of our player base.
1. Trial 51-3 was concluded with a result that I must deem inconceivable. While it is not written as a rule specifically here on this site, it is a universal concept of murder mysteries to never sacrifice an innocent player to, of all things, let the murderer go free. The fact that this has happened proves that there is a logic preceding this action that defies murder mysteries in general, as well as the spirit of the game we all play.
2. The blackened of 51-4 had agreed to have another player become an accomplice by explicitly saying that they were the blackened and that they wanted said player to lie about the results of their investigations in order to protect the blackened. I am unaware of when these two players specifically made this deal, but it preceded my knowledge until the blackened made it clear that such a deal had been made. Accomplices are, in general, an incredibly unbalancing factor that hasn't been allowed in our games. This would have been resolvable, had the blackened not released their identity to another player, which I shall cover in the next point.
3. The blackened of 51-4 made their identity known to another player. The goal of a murder mystery is to identify a murderer by seeking out their identity using evidence and logic. These standards are broken when someone removes the "mystery" aspect from a murder mystery. Making oneself known as a blackened is an act that is irreparable to the game's status. As a host, I cannot simply pick a new blackened when this occurs, especially at such a point when their aren't too many innocents to specifically choose from. Furthermore, selecting a new blackened would also violate the spirit of the murder mystery in general.
4. The add-ons for this game, while a creation of mine, have simply derailed the game. I take personal responsibility for the problems that the add-ons have caused, and I will no longer feature add-ons in my games until such a time when I feel that they are more refined. These add-ons, too, have corrupted the spirit of the murder mystery.
All of the player base should comment on this. This result is not at all what I wanted for any of my games. I do not blame any of the parties who contributed to the points listed above. Thank you.
