The Dragon Lord takes a quick break from bookkeeping to pose a question to the remaining bachelor(ette)s.
"While I acknowledge that a Royal Wedding is a primarily political affair, it is my wish, as young Casimir's godfather, that his potential spouse is also one that he has formed a genuine connection with. I will not have someone rising from the ashes to take the Prince's hand all in hopes of achieving some grand scheme. In addition to being entirely heretical, it is also... so terribly sad.
For that purpose, I must ask all remaining candidates to describe a situation in the past in which they worked closely with the Prince toward a common goal, outside of the seasonal Royal Court meetings. Prove with your answer that the two of you share a connection that lies beyond this silly event. That your goals and aspirations are as compatible as you all claim they are."
"I don't fault you for looking to the past for signs of compatibility, but one should remember that not all of us have had their title and rank for long enough to have established a relationship. Some have only been in contact for a season, which does not allow for a vast amount of opportunities to talk. I suggest to not always look to the past but welcome the future."
"All of my direct contact has been with the banquet and the previous season, for example. However, I have connections through him through trade and laws being passed. A delivery here or there that was at his request, upheld to the best of our capabilities. These are connections I cherish and plan to grow. In fact, rather than look at connections with exclusively the prince, perhaps you should inquire with their relationship with those around them. Level the playing field so to speak."
"I say this fully knowing that the nobles before us have a clear and obvious bias. A popularity contest does not make a good queen, though, and I thought you knew better than that."

"So, contestants, I ask you this: what qualities do you possess that, if passed on to an heir, would make him a strong future king?"
"And if you are genetically incompatible with the prince, disqualify yourself now and save yourself the embarrassment. In other words, only human women need apply ..."
"I don't agree here. I could bear a child and raise them with the preciseness I was taught--to look at an overall view and know where to take losses to get further gains down the line, to understand the economy and the people's distrust and where you can path correct. However, I don't believe bearing a child would be necessary, so I feel that even the men and non-humans could answer because there is a simple solution in the form of adoption. One may even ensure they find a qualified heir in such a way, so as to ensure their interests are with the kingdom and their talents are capable of following said interests."
