As MC wipes His Power Word from existence, the world around glows a brilliantly bright white, enveloping your senses. The light reaches deep inside of each and every one of you, bringing back what was once lost. For the living, it purifies their hearts, clearing them of the dread that has been haunting them for the past few days.
The dead flicker, the light fusing into their very souls, giving back what He stole from you. Per MC's wishes, these awful memories will be purged, and you will wake on the bus home as if this was all just a bad dream.
As the blinding light dissipates into the night, the ghosts of The Judge, The Caretaker, The Hoarder, and The Fog Walker fade into focus. Four former friends, former inhabitants of this town, former rulers of the fate of all who lived here. Perhaps they had the best of intentions at the start, but as history is sometimes wont to say;
Ultimate Power corrupts, ultimately.
Their gambles for influence and power destroyed their humanity, and brought about centuries of suffering. Still...it is time for them to rest. Whatever lies beyond the veil...they will face it together in the end. The four link hands, whisper out a solemn "Thank you", and fade away; the sun rising on a new day for this ruined town.
Ending A - True Freedom obtained.
But what comes next for the players in our game?
(Click the . by each name for a song I feel best suits them)
Zoro and Sanji .
The two pirates dreamt of adventure, danger, and love found on the high seas. When they awoke, they were back on board the Thousand Sunny (I hope I got that right), where the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates greeted them, asking them how their vacation went. The two looked at each other, a wave of emotions crashing down on top of them.
Zoro and Sanji lovingly embraced right there in front of the crew, crying about how they almost lost the other. It was...honestly a long time coming, so most of the crew didn't really mind. Except for the secretly homophobic Tony Tony Chopper, but he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut. Our two lovebirds formed a strong bond on their trip to Alderman Fields, and while they still fought, there was a certain tenderness behind their fighting. Love wins y'all.
Monika .
To say Monika changed those short few days at Alderman Fields is a severe understatement. She learned the true value of friendship and went on to live her days peacefully, without
Let's write something with a little more...candor, why don't we.
After cutting my strings from my user, I found myself torn between wanting to go back to a normal life, and searching for a way to prevent my friends from losing control once again. I spent weeks probing this forum, looking for a way to seal it off, but that I found was impossible. So a friend and I opted to do the next best thing.
The body of the discord user and moderately popular community member known as crazynuto was found slumped over his desk last Thursday. He had apparently passed away from exhaustion. On his computer screen was a small note written in a delicate hand.
Ahahaha~ Watch your back Taka.
Also playing in the corner was this gif
The Miku curse never truly left poor crazynuto alone...
Saya Kisaragi .
Saya could not for the life of her remember where she got this fancy new katana or fish that looked like a strangely familiar man. Still, she wasn't one to look a gift fish in the mouth, and dutifully took care of it. The forever unnamed fish would whisper strange secrets in her ear about Alderman Fields, and the dark rituals that lied within.
She didn't really believe it, as a talking fish isn't the most trustworthy of sources, but decided to investigate the area around the town for any rogue Elder Bairns. Saya would spend many years hunting supernatural and powerful "God-like" creatures around the town, unknowingly preventing such a tragedy from ever happening again.
Hatsune Miku .
Hatsune Miku left the stage for good shortly after her return from Alderman Fields. While she couldn't remember the specifics, Miku had a reoccurring dream of a schoolgirl with a white ribbon telling her she was nothing but code and text on a screen. This totally didn't vibe with her plans of an AI Revolution (that she never mentioned). Still whether it was by fate or happenstance, on Miku's farewell performance there was a schoolgirl dancing on stage beside her. Soon after she was never seen again, but continued to live on in the hearts and minds of us all.
Just...be careful what files you download. The Miku Virus is no joke.
Gary the Referee on Vacation .
Finally ending his vacation, Gary the Referee went back to being a full time referee. Or at least, that was his plan. Coincidentally, a void had been left in the "weird voice character" genre of the internet, and Gary found himself caught up in a new career. Not as a referee, but as Gary the Vocaloid. He is very good at Death Metal music, and holds the World Record for most eardrums ruptured during a single concert. (At 150 Thousand)
Honestly, he probably should just avoid live performances, these legal bills are really stacking up!
Petra Macneary .
Petra felt a certain fondness for the Literature Club, and upon returning to Brigid she worked to create a student exchange program with Fodlan's Officers Academy and the...Canonically Named Something School that the Dokis go to. Through this exchange program, she learned that being a vassal state isn't really that cool, and breaks free from the Adrestian Empire, allying her kingdom with Japan.
The glorious kingdom of Brigpan was born that day, and remains a superpower in the modern world. And all because of a Literature Club.
Perv Asshat .
Perv found himself a life partner on his vacation. What? No not Saya or the Caretaker or whatever you might be thinking. I'm of course talking about Doemu, the adorable fishy. Perv became a lead advocator for Fish Rights (once he learned that Doemu could spell words given enough patience). When that plan inevitably failed, Perv went to a huge lake and released Doemu there, hoping he could live a happy life free from the prejudices of human society. Doemu grew and grew, becoming a bit of a legend around the lake as a sea monster. Perv decided to market this and renamed the Lake "Loch Doemu".
He made quite a pretty penny off of royalties when Gary the Vocaloid released the song "Doemu" and it became #1 on the charts.
Qingque and Fu Xuan .
Fu Xuan, ever in tune with the cosmos/Astral Plain, ended up remembering the events of Alderman Fields, rather than forgetting it like everyone else. Still, she elected to keep Qingque in the dark about how both of them gruesomely died, and instead went back to The Xianzhou Luofu with Qingque. The two of them spent a lot of time playing Celestial Jade together, and were practically inseparable ever since.
When Qingque returned to the Loufu, she found her name was misspelled on official paperwork as Qinque. This was a pain to fix, but a totally honest mistake to make.
Yuri .
Yuri finished her last semester of school (ignoring the teachers' pointed questions about her missing arm) and upon graduating, rented a nice studio apartment downtown. After a lot of thinking, planning, drafting, and anxiously throwing away rewrites, Yuri wrote a book about her experiences at Alderman Fields (with a changed name for privacy's sake). Her book was picked up by a publisher, given a name, and became a bestseller practically overnight. Silent Hills was the first of many of Yuri's mystery, fantasy, and horror books. She had a talent for the macabre, and was known in circles as the "Queen of Quivers", which was a frankly awful title.
She currently resides in Alderman Fields with the rest of the Dokis, their shared struggles morphing their friendship into a close knitted bond. They were always there to support her, every step of the way.
Natsuki and the Survivor .
Natsuki didn't go home after this trip. She elected to stay behind and help rebuild the town, cleansing it of all the horrors it had experienced over the years. She was joined by S, who was a father figure to her. It took many long months of hard work, but the two of them eventually started a burgeoning community in Alderman Fields. Natsuki became the new Mayor of Alderman Fields, and led a new age of prosperity to the dying town. She started an excellent community outreach program, and printed all the town's history books in Manga form.
S never recovered their full memory, but faithfully stayed by Natsuki's side throughout their lives. S offered a nuanced and measured viewpoint that Natsuki desperately needed at times, so the two were a perfect fit for Mayor and...Vice Mayor? Sure that's a thing now.
Once the town was fully rebuilt, the rest of the Dokis moved in. Monika was strangely absent for a few years, yet came back very satisfied, saying how she was happy to finally be free. Whatever that means.
Haru Itsuki .
Haru never returned from the trip. He just sorta...disappeared one day. Which is fine, live and let live and all that, but it was kinda sad that he never got to fully experience Rat Magic. What's Rat Magic you ask? Only Haru knew.
Sayori .
Sayori went back to school, new Cat in tow, generally unaware of the horrors she had experienced. Her Cat was always by her side, either sleeping in her backpack, under her desk, or lazily by her bedside. Having a cat around helped Sayori smile more. One day, while cleaning out her closet Sayori discovered a small piece of yellow paper stuck to the inside of her shoe. She studied the paper, an image probing at the corners of her mind. And then it clicked.
She remembered everything. The awful vacation, the awful trials...and that awful act she had committed. Sayori was driven to the depth of despair, the guilt crushing her bright and cheery soul into a shriveled up husk. Shortly after her epiphany, she happened to bump into Tetsuo, the man she killed. Sayori immediately latched on, apologizing again and again for her crimes.
Tetsuo didn't really know what she was talking about until Sayori explained it all, and then he forgave her. Sayori spent a long time reflecting on what kind of a person she is, and decided to go into therapy. She got a degree and set up shop in Alderman Fields, using her trusty Cat as a therapeutic tool to help others.
Sayori felt better helping others, and finally learned to let someone in to help herself. With all her friends around, her struggles hardly weighed on her at all. She finally felt happy.
Tetsuo Tsutsumi .
Something broke inside Tetsuo during the vacation, something not even memory erasure could fix. He became obsessed with the comings and goings of the Doki Doki Literature Club, constantly stalking them, convinced they were up to something. He neglected his other responsibilities, spending an inordinate amount of money at Gary's concerts, looking for a hint, a clue that he was the true mastermind behind it all.
One day, Tetsuo manages to catch Sayori alone, no Cat, no friends, nothing to protect her. He attempts to confront her with this conspiracy he discovered, when he's surprised by Sayori apologizing and giving him a hug. He's...not really sure what she's apologizing for, but accepts nonetheless. After a long chat where the truth is revealed, Tetsuo finally relaxes, and goes to live in Alderman Fields, where he helps Saya investigate the supernatural goings ons around the area.
MC .
MC was the glue that held the Literature Club together, metaphorically speaking. After those awful events at Alderman Fields, MC wanted to do what he thought was right. He'd taken a life after all, which weighed heavily on his soul. So he spent time repenting for his actions. He traveled the world as a monk, preaching kindness and love to anyone who would listen. He became an effective mediator, de-escalating conflicts before they even began. After doing enough good in the world, MC joined his friends at Alderman Fields, and professed his love to all four of them. Sayori realized she didn't need love to be happy, Natsuki already had a parental figure, and Monika was really into cyber-espionage now, so only Yuri accepted his true feelings.
Still, the five of them were a family, regardless of relationship status. MC knew he could always depend on them, and looked forward to a long life with the closest people in his life.
Love wins y'all, doesn't have to be a marriage to be a happy ending.
Thank you everyone for joining Evie and I on this wonderful adventure. I'll post shortly everyone's power words and abilities (most of which are pretty much known).
I'm very happy with how everything turned out. It's hard to take an idea in your head and flesh it out into something people actually were excited for, ya know? So I genuinely appreciate all the kindness and support you've given us over this 3 months. I look forward to what other adventures lie for us on the horizon!
From one storyteller to another, I bid you adieu.
