Lots are drawn, the die is cast, is your fate up to chance?
Well...not here, since these are all your answers.
Here we go.
Q1 - Who caused the death of the Caretaker? [20 points]
MCA: Sanji
I phrased this question to differentiate between the accomplice and the "mastermind". Zoro was the one who outwardly caused the death (with Sanji's help of course. 10 points)
Q2 - What circumstances lead to her death? [15 points]
MCA: The Caretaker ate a sugar cookie that had a sewing needle baked into it by the culprit. The rules of the Inn were altered to permit violence for the culprits, and a Spectral Sword based on the needle was used to slice open her abdomen from the inside.
Pretty much entirely correct, not much to complain about here. 15 points.
Q3 - What items were used in the murder, and where were they acquired? [10 points]
MCA: Homemade cookie / Sewing Needle / Inn's Ledger
While the ledger wasn't implicitly used by the Blackened, disabling the Caretaker's power word is pretty much the same thing. 10 points
Q4 - Were any power words used? If so, whose were they and how were they used? [10 points]
MCA: Zoro's Power word to create the weapon + Caretaker's to alter the ledger
Sanji's Power Word was used to disable it, but it had the same effect in essence, yet I'd hoped you mentioned it. Zoro's was used to do the slicing and the dicing, so I'm comfortable giving this...9 points. Or should it be 10? Perhaps a choice is in order...
Q5 - Were there any accomplices in this murder? If so, whom? What did they do? [10 points]
MCA: Zoro, who swung the weapon at the predetermined time
Yeah that's just correct. They were chosen to be blackened together, so the lines between them are a bit blurred, but I essentially chose Sanji as the "true" blackened at the end of the day, due to his role in manipulating everyone. Tetsuo's...skills helped prove that. 10 points
Q6 - Why was there no weapon found at the crime scene? [10 points]
MCA: The weapon had been unwittingly eaten by The Caretaker. The object from which the Spectral Sword was created had been digested by the time her body could be examined, and the Spectral Sword itself is invisible to everyone but Zoro.
She ated it. 10 points
Q7 - Where was the blackened during the murder? [15 points]
MCA: At the Bank with MC
Only mentioned Sanji's location, not Zoro's and how he was with Tetsuo and the Survivor. (Although it was phrased as "where the blackened was", and Sanji was picked as the Blackened, so I'll be kind and give 10 points)
Q8 - How did the Blackened defy the Caretaker's rules? [10 points]
Used Sanji's power word to disable the Caretaker's word. By invoking The Caretaker's Power Word, the culprit was able to gain ownership of her Ledger. They added a rule which read "No rules apply to pirates." After she was cut, the culprit immediately erased the rule, having known the time of death in advance.
This just...didn't happen. Sanji never added this rule, nor was it or any other rule erased. All they did was simply disable her Power Word using Sanji's ability. Although the logical leaps to assume that were extremely difficult, if not impossible, so I'm inclined to give you 5 points.
Hoarder's Question: Who killed Tuxxy?
It's...a tie between "Snitches get Stitches" and...The Judge??? At 4 votes each. What rubbish.
Bonus Question: What is the Blackened's Power Word?
Well...nobody got it right whatsoever. Perhaps dear Sanji is more complex than he lets on.
Now to just compile the results and exec-
Oh what the hell? ...Fine I'll address the proverbial elephant in the room.
Real talk here. This trial was incredibly close. Like you were so off the mark for so long, then you somehow managed to turn it all around. An excellent set of deductions.
Yet by my count, you would've been 1 point shy of succeeding. And...that was just not fair in this scenario. Sanji used his Power Word to disable the Caretaker's yes, but...there was no feasible way for you or anyone to know it. Yet Sanji (and Zoro) kept the ruse going the entire trial that he was being manipulated by Sanji, food was his superpower, yada yada yada.
What I'm trying to say is, both sides played incredibly well, and it doesn't feel right to determine their fates based on a leap of logic that was frankly, impossible.
So instead of making a hard choice that I won't be happy with, I'll let you all decide! Should Sanji and/or Zoro burn for their crimes? Or would you find some way to forgive them? After all, you don't know their reasons why they did it yet.
After roughly 22 hours, the poll will close and their fates will be sealed. After which...you'll find out.
I do apologize for this unsatisfying outcome, but it was the only choice that felt like the "right" choice for everyone involved. Make your case and cast your votes one more time!
Once this business is done, we'll move swimmingly on into the final day of your vacation! May it be a spine-tingling conclusion! (And a murder or two too. Game 105 - The Accomplice Game.)
