Correct. Gary was the one who ultimately put them both in the predicament that ended their lives. While one could argue that the original inventor of the Tram, Fyodor Pirotsky, is the true mastermind behind this deadly plot, Gary will serve as a secondary answer. 15 points.

Correct. Petra was last seen at A4, so with some deductive reasoning, it was simple to assume when she and [REDACTED] died. 5 points.

MCA - They were the blackened/accomplice last trial and [REDACTED] knew she'd revive if the ring was placed on her. [7 votes]

Correct. While I can't claim for [REDACTED]'s internal thoughts, she did have this misguided intention that assisting in the killing of her former compatriot would absolve her of the guilt she felt in her heart. Clearly she was mistaken. 5 points.

Correct. Petra had no idea of this plan until the very end, and was powerless (metaphorically and literally) to stop it. 5 points.

Essentially correct. The taser was actually from the previous trial, but as that ended with some unanswered questions, I elected to fabricate evidence, that being the battery, to show that a makeshift taser did exist. Without it, one would find it difficult to assume it existed due to lack of evidence. The makeshift taser was made using a camera, so it essentially worked the same, just with chunkier batteries. So while on a technicality you're partially wrong, you had no way of knowing the truth, and I added the battery to help guide you so...

MCA - Just [REDACTED], who stunned/fought/restrained Petra only on the Pink Line Tracks [6 votes]

Mostly Incorrect. [REDACTED] did stun/restrain Petra, but her and Gary brought her onto the Pink Line Tram itself, where they fabricated the fight. Why would Gary have felt the need to destroy the interior of the Tram, if he knew [REDACTED] and Petra were already on the tracks? So while just having [REDACTED] is correct, the majority didn't include her full role, which was roughing up Petra on the Tram itself. 1 point.

Q9 - Were any power words used? If so, whose were they and how were they used? [10 points]

MCA - [REDACTED] used her power word to alter the ring plus Gary's power word to stun/blow off the tram's doors (and Petra's to give her hallucinations but I won't consider that in the answer as it wasn't part of the plan) [6 votes]

Correct! Exactly, much to my chagrin, [REDACTED] altered the ring. Gary used his to destroy the interior of the Pink Line Tram. Petra was beset by hallucinations, but that wasn't due to the blackened. 10 points.

Q10 - How were Petra and/or [REDACTED] knocked unconscious? [5 points]

MCA - Petra knocked unconscious with an improvised stun gun, then hit in the head with a rock. [REDACTED] via Gary's power word. [5 votes]

This one was weird. Yes Petra was knocked out via Stun Gun, and hit in the head with a rock, but nobody mentioned the large bruise on the back of [REDACTED]'s head. How would that have occurred if [REDACTED] was attacking an unconscious Petra? Answer: She was punched by Gary, who tied them up and finished the plan. (Then stunned them as Petra stirred) So the broad strokes are correct, but I'll only give you 3 points.

Q11 - Is this case a Murder-Suicide, Double Suicide, or a Double Homicide? [5 points]

Correct. While there is an argument to be made of this being a murder suicide, [REDACTED] hoped in her heart that she would be revived by the ring. Gary attacking her and throwing her out of the tram with Petra, while part of the plan, definitely is more "I'm being murdered" than "I murdered and now I die". 5 points.

Q12 - Why didn’t Petra’s Ring of Tears save her? Where is it now? [10 points]

MCA - [REDACTED] stole it when Petra was unconscious, MC has it now [8 votes]

I mean it's correct, MC literally has it from searching [REDACTED]'s body (and deciphering the coded riddle she left) 10 points.

Not a soul got it correct. I suppose that too will fade with time.

"I- I'm sorry that I killed Petra but thank you for figuring it out. Maybe now the cycle won't continue. Though I- I'm truly Sorry everyone. I know I killed and it's something that shouldn't be so easily forgot but I do wish you would forgive me."



*Gary Scratches his head awkwardly. * 

"[REDACTED] was meant to come back. but I guess it's my turn to move on. All I'll say is survive this for me."




"Judge you have a power word correct? it wouldn't happen to be Justice would it?"

*Gary looks down as he sighs*

MC steps closer to [REDACTED]’s corpse, looking at it for the first time since they’d arrived to the courtroom.

”It always comes back to the trolley problem, doesn’t it, [REDACTED]”

He sniffles and turns back to the rest of the group.

”I don’t know how far ahead she planned this, but I was probably [REDACTED]'s only chance at someone finding the ring who would revive her. But… I can’t do it.”

“Had it been yesterday, I’d have saved her in an instant. Something about [REDACTED]’s changed though, and now she’s helped orchestrate three murders. I can’t trust her not to take more lives. The same goes for Gary and Petra, I don’t want to use this on someone who’s committed murder here and risk them doing it again.”

He returns to his original podium with a glum expression.

”I’m going to save the ring of tears to use if there’s a future trial. I’m also going to hide the ring somewhere, so no one feels like they have to tear me apart to get it.”

Myriad emotions have danced mad, eccentric circles around Yuri's cerebral maypole for so long now that at the end of everything, all she can identify is the exhaustion.

MC. [REDACTED].

What were they?

Who was she, who clearly knew the Literature Club better than any of them knew her? Yuri knew only this: that she wasn't to be trusted. If she had truly intended to atone, what she would have left hidden in those poems would be a confession and an accusation against her co-conspirator. Instead, had they not seen through Gary's deceptions and fought for the truth themselves, he would live on and yet more innocents would die in his place.

Yuri can't understand, then, why she still feels conflicted about MC's decision. He's right—it's safer this way. But... what else could [REDACTED] have known? What secrets might she have had to share with them? If things had been different, the cards in different hands, could she have helped them to escape already? What if—

Before she's consciously aware of it, her simulacrum has already stepped away from her, approaching MC.




"Um, hello? Y-Yuki, I didn't order you to—"




"I'll be gone soon. These feelings only I know... they'll go with me as well."


The simulacrum turns to MC.




"MC... you know [REDACTED] left the choice up to you. She'd support your decision either way, and so will I. Not as your Vice-President, but as your friend, I just want you to know..."




"The Literature Club is here for you, no matter what."


Suddenly, the simulacrum wraps her arms around MC, leaving Yuri frozen in place, mortified.




"Well then. I'll leave you be."


As her grip loosens, the simulacrum begins to dissolve, flickering until it slips away from this reality, leaving Yuri utterly confused.

As Gary guesses The Judge's power word, the mist around him swells and envelopes him, dragging him to the center of the room. The walls fade away, the fog almost absorbing the material. A lone spotlight shines on Gary, [REDACTED]'s body having been placed at his feet.

The Judge's bench grows tall, towering over our two culprits. The Judge raises their gavel, slamming it down with a certain...finality, the vibrations shaking you to your very core.

GUILTY.

cw: Melting? Viciously disintergrating? It's not fun.

Gary's body rises, a swell of sound lifting him up, the ground morphing into a giant speaker. The Judge slams their gavel down again, and a burst of noise rattles his insides, the megaphone on his head cracking from the force.


You're forced to cover your ears as the noise intensifies, but Gary isn't given the luxury. He's held still by the fog, taking the full force of the sound, his body writhing in pain, the cracks on his megaphone growing, a glowing red light shining from under the cracks. The sound gets louder, lower, and Gary shakes alongside with it, until it reaches a pitch so low you can barely recognize it as sound. You feel the frequency pulse, syncing it's rhythm with Gary's heartbeat. His pulse quickens, blood pouring from his body in thick, red bursts. His skin rips and tears, the tendons holding him together severing, his body slowly turning, foaming, melting into a thick red mist that swirls and circles around the room. 

It descends on [REDACTED], covering her corpse with a mixture of blood and chunks of what used to be Gary. You can swear you hear [REDACTED] cry out, calling for help, but of course you are powerless to change things. [REDACTED]'s body slowly begins to shift itself, changing shape from the figure you once knew into a mess of broken images, pieces of things you've already seen. You catch a glimpse of Sayori's face, Natsuki's eyes, Yuri's smile, mixed and garbled. The shapes holding her together flicker and flash and the mist corrodes her very being, and they blink out of existence one by one. 

And with each missing piece, you find yourself...forgetting.

But of course, how could you possibly forget [REDACTED], with her...long purple hair? No that can't be right.

What Once Was Gary feeds on the slimy waste of [REDACTED], no longer resembling any living thing you've ever seen.

Why are you watching this horrible display and feeling such a sense of...self righteousness about it?

Just...who was this person, who you felt was beyond redemption.

You can't even remember why you wanted them dead.

Who? Oh right, Gary. But he was an awful murderer, killing poor Petra like that. He deserved what he got.

You blink and Gary's lifeless form is gone, and you're back in the Eternal Requiem Inn.
