DDD Day 3 - Part 1 of the Spirit Series
No one could say how long it had been, that eternity of deafening white.
Yet with stark, uncaring abruptness, the minds of eight Pokémon suddenly find themselves whole and conscious for the first time in ages.
"Ugh... Where are we? (Oh, my eye. It's still...)"
"W-we're all here? Why? What is this place?"
The eight spirits of Old Treasure Town stand confused, looking across a vast expanse of grassy fields and mountains ahead of them, while just behind them the ground gives way to a sheer cliff. Down—farther down than any of them could feel comfortable considering—an endless ocean stretches out behind them.
As the group nurses what apparently comes as a collective headache, one of them spots something in the distance.
"Oh my gosh, I think I see something on that mountain waaaay over there! It might be a building!"
"Sounds better than going down the other way, meh-heh-heh. I say we get a move on."
With minimal protest, the group picks themselves up and begins walking. After a brief discussion, they reason that at their normal walking pace, it should take around four weeks to reach the distant mountain. Luckily, spirits get neither tired nor hungry. However, they do get bored.
"Daaaads, I'm booooooored!"
"It's been half an hour. What are you talking ab—"
"It's been half an hour. What are you talking ab—"
"It's been half an hour. What are you talking ab—"
"SHA-HA-HA-HA! Well, we know how to deal with boredom, don't we?"
The explorers look at themselves. That's right! They'd spent years stimulating their minds with puzzles in order not to lose themselves. A few more weeks would be nothing!
"Hey, hey! Chimecho, I heard you gave those new explorers in Treasure Town a puzzle, even though you never gave us any! Or solved any, for that matter. You been holding back on us, girl?"
"Well excuse me! I had a lot to think about! Although..."
"...I feel a lot better now than I did before. That ringing in my ears has gone away. Maybe... maybe I could give you a puzzle to pass the time after all!"
The setup is simple:
●●●○○○
In front of you are six ringing bowls, lined up one after another, close enough to be almost touching.
The first three bowls are filled with water.
The last three bowls are empty.
The bowls can be moved freely.
Your task is to arrange the bowls such that, while remaining in a single line, every filled bowl is followed by an empty bowl.
However, you may only move a single bowl.
How will you do it?

{Reveal Answer}
It didn't take long for the other spirits to come up with an answer.
"Huh. You should just be able to... pour the contents of the second bowl into the fifth bowl, right? Then put the second bowl back in its place. Am I missing something?"
"Chingaling-ding, not missing a thing! That's exactly right! I thought it would be fun to actually think about the contents of the bowls themselves, rather than just seeing two kinds of objects to rearrange. Full marks!"
"HA-HA-HA! Is that how you did it?"
"Whaddaya mean? How did you do it, Loudred?"
"I'd just drink the water out of the second bowl! The puzzle doesn't say you have to wind up with three filled bowls, after all! Heck, if I'm careful, I could move zero bowls!"
"Heheh, I see no problems with that answer either. Great work, guys!"
"...Aw man, now I'm thirsty."
