Welcome to the first Answers thread and the last thing I'll have to write out an extended explanation for!! YAY!!

Now that trial is coming to a close, it's time to gather all the information you've uncovered and decide what really happened. Collectively (NOT every person) you will make posts here, one post per question, and answer it. You will have ~36 hours to write your answers here, then this thread will be locked. From there, you will have 24 hours to vote (by liking posts) for your favourite answer.

At the end of the 24 hours, I will match the most voted answers against the Truth about the case and determine what percentage of the truth your answers hold. There is a hidden threshold, linked to the difficulty of the trial, that you must reach. If your answers meet this threshold, the Blackened will die.

If you fail to meet the threshold by 10% or less: the person falsely accused will die.

If you fail by 11-20%: the person falsely accused and one random Whitened will die.

If you fail by over 20%, the person falsely accused and two random Whiteneds will die.

"Question 2: Who is the victim? Rantaro, a student on his last year of school. No minor and he has no remaining family. He knew Professor Monty O'kuma for four years and always knew the professor would snap one day like this."

"Question 3: When did the victim die and what was his cause of death? He died at the beginning of the third hour of the night in the male bathroom (OOC: Specifically mid/late A5). Directly, only his throat being slit by a knife. Indirectly, the gas and a sick trap set by the true culprit for two people in the bathroom."

"Question 4: What items were used in this plan, and where were they collected? I'll keep this simple. The knife used to kill Rantaro and the recorder with the horrific "would you like to play a game" message was found in Lab Room B, taken from an evidence bag. The key was taken off of Professor Monty O'kuma or Milly and hidden in the paper towel dispenser. The hot plate and chemicals--specifically Kirigirium and Rantarium (The chemical that extends other heated chemicals) but possibly a couple others including komaedium--were taken from Lab Room A. The door was also, arguably an item, but it never moved from the male bathroom."

"Question 5: Were there any accomplices? Unwittingly? Aqua and Rantaro. Knowingly? Monty O'Kuma."

"Question 6: What steps were taken that led to the events that occurred in the Male Bathroom, up to the victim's death?

The culprit who set the trap gathered the recorder and knife from lab B, the chemicals and hot plate from Lab A, and got the key to the bathroom and the recorded message from Professor Monty O'Kuma--likely in the teacher's lounge. The order of this is not significant but it had to be done before the third action

The third action, the culprit escaped into the male bathroom--probably deliberately so we would not suspect that they were a girl--and set the tape recorder in the vent and pressed play before setting up the chemicals on the hot plate. They also planted the knife and hid the key in the dispenser on the ground at this time. They then locked the door but left it ajar and left.

Then Aqua and Rantaro entered the bathroom A5 for their personal reasons, the door closed, and the two were tricked into thinking one had to die for the other to escape. Rantaro chose to sacrifice himself.

How did the circumstances occur that caused the victim to die? Two unsuspecting individuals went to the bathroom and locked themselves in the room. A tape recorder went off while they were stuck in a purple gas and they were told the only way to escape was to have one of them die by the knife. The two were led to believe someone was watching them considering the recording went off while they were there, so if one died then the other would be free. This was not the case and instead the way to get out was hidden in the room itself."

"They were tricked by the blackened in having to die at their command. At this point, I'm not even sure the gas was fatal. The culprit had no confidence to kill directly. Perhaps hoping that setting this scene up with clear them of all suspicion and guilt."

"Question 7: Who is the Blackened? I can think of no one else but Ada at this time. I do not know her motive for this, but she is the only person who we can clearly tell had the opportunity."

"Question 1: Who killed the victim? This is my only point of disagreement with Aqua's listing of events. I propose that Aqua, rattled by the tape speech and seeking a way out, killed Rantaro. Kabuto doesn't mention speech, and aqua's ability to say that rantaro did suicide... is shaky at points. This does not make him the blackened, however."

Question 6: What steps were taken that led to the events that occurred in the Male Bathroom, up to the victim's death?

Step 1: At Lab room B, Ada took a tape recorder and scalpel.
Step 2: At Lab room A, Ada found the evidence bag labeled 'knife' and swapped the scalpel with the knife. She took a hot plate, a sample of Kirigirium, and a sample of Rantarinium.
Step 3: At the Teacher's Lounge, Ada signaled the Professor from outside to empty the room. Once inside, she had the Professor record a sinister message into the tape recorder, and she got a key to the Male Bathroom from his desk.
Step 4: At the Male Bathroom, Ada locked the door with the key, but she left the door open. She set the tape recorder to play with a one hour delay, and she mixed the Kirigirium and Rantarinium on the hot plate so the toxic effect could last longer. She placed these at the vent of a stall. She placed the key inside a paper towel dispenser and the knife in the center of the room.
Step 5: At the Male Bathroom, an hour later, Aqua shut the door behind him, locking him and Rantaro inside the gas-filled room. The recorded message played to motivate them to use the knife.
