The detectives continue their investigation until the very last second. But still, they find themselves unable to come to a definitive conclusion. It is only a few minutes after Detective Pikachu removes the pig mask from Nuto's head that everyone begins to feel... really... sleepy...
...
Several Hours Earlier...
Six victims awaken in a decrepit bathroom, none of them quite sure on how they came to be there in the first place.
On the far west, a shirtless man looks down at his stomach. He sees arrows, all pointing toward one small circle. Nuto stares at his reflection in the mirror, sweat beading on his forehead.
In an unassuming stall, a martial arts superstar sits quietly, finally out of the public's eye. He finds his mouth forced open in a painful grin. An uncomfortable sensation massages the back of his throat, and several pieces of string, sharp as piano wire, travel from the back of his mouth to a shelf of lit candles.
In front of that stall, a younger man finds himself unable to say a word. The horrifying sensation of bile baptises his throat, but he forces it down as well as he can.
In the room's centre, someone lays under a heavily modified sander, the ability to move robbed from them. A sharp pain coats their inner chest - as if something is inside it that shouldn't be. Their eyes watch the sander in fearful anticipation.
Finally, a set of twins awaken back to back on the far side of the room. Around there necks are gigantic, metal collars - quite far from being a fashion statement, they resemble crudely crafted execution devices instead. The two girls try to talk, then shout, then scream - but only the most muffled of noises escapes their unmoving lips. Stitched shut like a child's doll, they watch the rest without a clue what to do.
And then, the tape that plays informs them of their fate. How today, they will be given the opportunity to finally value the friendships they've forged.
When it clicks finished, another tape plays, one for each person - describing an additional hurdle they must overcome in order to leave the room with their lives.
And then, it begins.
Wasting no time, Nuto's eyes dart around the room in search of something to cut himself with. His eyes land on that gigantic mirror that spans one wall to the other, and with no hesitation, he punches it with all his might. The glass cracks in the shape of a spider's web, and he grabs a piece of the shattered glass to use as his surgery equipment.
With the mirror as his only reference, he tearfully cuts open the marked area on his stomach. Blood and puss leak from it like a gory, broken faucet, but it doesn't stop him from cutting deeper. There's something in here that he needs right now more than anything else. Something that could be considered "extra" in the grander scheme of things.
The human body only really needs one of its kidneys, after all.
The modern day medieval surgery continues. Though he cringes in pain, he knows that with every second the blood flows out, with every living moment, he grows closer to what he needs. When he believes he's cut deep enough, he sticks his hand in the hole and feels around. He's surprised with how little effort it takes to pull out the infected kidney, but doesn't let that slow him down whatsoever as he once again uses the broken piece of glass. This time, he cuts directly into it, then feels around in the disgusting, blackened organ, before finally finding that golden ticket, that which will free him from the room...
The key.
As he takes the time to marvel at the thing in his hands, his trance is interrupted by the vile sound of someone throwing up next to him. It's then followed by a crimson explosion, sending all manner of brain juice and grey matter around the bathroom. Nuto watches HoodieBoy's body fall to the ground, bathing in a pool of its own vomit and blood.
He refuses to meet the same fate.
Dashing toward the contraption in the middle of the room - the one containing NerdyBarista - he immediately gets to work. He brings down the heavy sander on Nerdy's stomach area, fighting violently against Nerdy who is trying to use it on their chest. The pain, however, eventually becomes too much for them, and they can no longer fight against it as Nuto practically shaves away their skin.
Yet, they still live despite all this pain. But one sudden shiver, one sudden jutter, changes all that.
The key embedded within their chest - the one they were supposed to remove after having used the sander to weaken their skin - pierces their heart.
The cause of death? Bleeding, of the internal variety.
Panting, Nuto catches his breath for only a second before a cacophany of screams eminates from one of the bathroom stalls. The smell of burnt flesh reaches his nostrils, but that's not what catches Nuto's attention.
The door to the room - that golden prize he needed so badly - finally begins to open.
He sprints in its direction, briefly tripped up by one of the Taka Twins, who seem desperate to tell him something, but on account of the stitches keeping their mouths shut, are completely unable to.
The other twin jumps on top of him, and Nuto fights against her with everything he has. He punches, kicks, and eventually succeeds in getting the girl off of him, as the door which he was so close to begins to close itself. Nuto isn't about to sit and let this happen, so in one last ditch effort, he leaps through the door, finally coming out on the other side.
One of the Taka Twins - the one who tripped him up, grabs his arm in an attempt to stop his escape, but he quickly shakes her off without so much as a pinch of effort. She falls flat on her face, and the door finds itself briefly stuck on her skull.
Alas, that doesn't last very long.
Finally taking the time to breathe, Nuto watches the twin's eyes fill with horror as her head is slowly, slowly crushed by this heavy metal, sliding door, attempting to get back into its original position. Every time it moves, another pulse of pain travels around her skull, back to her brain, and loops around again. In her agony, her sheer force of will rips open the stitches keeping her lips together. A torrent of blood overflows like a dam from Hell, as she begs Nuto, pleads with him, to just hand over the key.
But he doesn't get the chance to, because her skull finally gives way, smushed between the door and the wall, turning it into little more than a gory paste. Adding insult to injury, the collar around her neck then activates, though really there isn't much left for it to shoot. Of course, as their trap was set up, the other Taka Twins' collar goes off as well, on the other side of the door, now completely out of Nuto's sight.
Her head explodes like a watermelon on the beach.
The only sound left coming from the room is that of Hercule - who continues to scream, the flames of his life slowly burning away.
But Nuto doesn't care about that anymore.
He's did it.
He's free.
He, unlike any of the others, had the will to live.
He passed his test.
LowRes Kirigiri, Lee Gun, Detective Pikachu, and Detective Spider all awaken in the same bathroom, though it has since been cleared of any previous obstructions.
They are chained by the leg to various pipes surrounding the room. No tools remain; not the shard of glass, not anything in their pockets, not a single thing that was used in the murder. In fact, the room seems to have been cleaned quite meticulously.
Two men approach them. The first, a man in old-timey detective garb, while the other, a fashionable man wearing a pair of snazzy sunglasses. They should look familiar to the two of them.
Bobby Fullbright and Herlock Sholmes stand, free of any shackles, with disappointed expressions on their faces.
Herlock unfastens his coat for a brief moment. He slides up his underclothing, and shows his stomach to the chained detectives.
It's there that they see a stitched-up wound, surrounded by pen marks indicating where he had to cut.
After he puts everything back on, he and Fullbright make for the door - which, right now, is wide open, allowing a final view of the world outside this bathroom to those who are about to become its eternal residents.
But, before they leave, they turn one last time to their former colleagues, looking each of them in the eye in turn, before uttering one final phrase between them.
"Game Over." "Game Over."
The door slams shut, with the victorious ones on the outside.
The remaining detectives are left in the darkness, as a speechless silence resounds through the bathroom's walls. Almost as if it is traveling through the very pipes they find themselves chained to.
Thank you for participating in this Mini Trial.
The victory goes to the Blackened, Herlock Sholmes (CrazyNuto), and the traitorous detective, Bobby Fullbright (21hugs). Congratulations!
Once more, thank you for playing, and goodnight!
