...Quite the unusual time for the bells to ring. Everyone stops what they're doing. You look around. Some knights are running off toward the Sauna. Curious bunch that you are, everyone decides to follow. What could they possibly be so interested in?
You soon find out.
Alois, Frederica and Ayra are standing at the entrance, each looking surprised in their own way. Pushing past them to get a closer look, well, you suddenly wish that you had just stayed where you were.
{Spoiler}You're joyfully presented with a body that has been cooked to perfection. They even took the opportunity to remove all the hair and other yucky parts. If you were some sort of freak, you could say it looks good enough to eat!
An annoyed woman calmly shouts at you all, taking your attention away from the corpse for a brief moment. A knight, face covered in armor, shuts the Sauna's door.
"Move along. This is a matter for the Knights. Rhea's asked you all to gather in the Cardinals' Room for now. Lucky you. Not many people can say they've been in there."
Just what is going on?
TRUTH BULLETS
State of the Unknown Corpse *UPDATEDx5*
The corpse has had all of its skin ripped off the body. None remains. On top of that, it has been practically cooked red by the heat of the sauna. The heat must have been unbearable. There are no remaining identifying features, not even hair, but you're certain that the corpse belongs to a male. The clothes, personal belongings and skin of the deceased is absolutely nowhere to be found. Not in the Sauna, or anywhere else in the Monastery.
The corpse was sitting on a bench in the Sauna when it was first discovered. The only traces of blood on the crime scene are directly under, and a little bit around, the body, on the bench upon which the corpse is sat.
Given that Julius is alive... Who does this corpse belong to?
The corpse's height indicates that it belongs to a student of Garreg Mach.
Unknown Corpse's Identity *NEW*
The Unknown Corpse belongs to someone the Whiteneds have met and have acknowledged.
After the finding of Julius, all students, professors and workers of the Academy are accounted for.
The Unknown Corpse did not come from outwith Garreg Mach.
Those Who Slither In The Dark *NEW*
Enemies of the church. Despise the human race. They have the eerie ability to impersonate whoever they choose by means of stealing their skin.
The Sauna *UPDATED*
The sauna contains only one entrance, which also functions as an exit. There are no other ways to get in or out of the sauna other than the front door. There is a pool of water right under the front door, which is quite cool, considering that it’s right in front of that boiling building. Other than the meager traces of blood around the body, the Sauna is completely blood free.
How Does A Sauna Work?
A pile of rocks is heated to a high temperature by flames underneath. Water is poured onto these hot rocks, filling the sauna with steam. More water leads to more steam. The temperature within a sauna can vary greatly.
Items Bought from the Marketplace *UPDATED*
Nothing was stolen during the day or otherwise was taken without the acknowledgement of the merchants. The merchants are contractually obligated not to lie about what they have sold during the day, though they are under no obligation to say to which person each item was sold. The total list of all items sold during the day is:
-Deadly nightshade
-Coloured chalk (Lots)
-A sword that was commissioned last week
-A knife
-The skin of a blue ring octopus
-A teddy bear holding a fish
-A pot
-A lock (The key was sold back seconds later)
-A… “Device From The Future”
-Black powder considered banned in Fódlan
Fishing Pond
Every fish in the pond is dead. They are floating on the surface with lifeless, beady eyes. There is also a fishing rod floating alongside them.
Fishing Materials
The Nameless Fishing NPC Guy tells you that three fishing rods were taken throughout the day. One net was also taken. A lot of bait was taken. An ungodly amount.
Black Eagle Classroom
There are study materials on the desks of various students. The teachers’ desk contains a bunch of tests that have indeed been marked, thank you very much. There are a few miscellaneous papers on the floor surrounding the teachers’ desk. The large, embroidered flag at the back of the class has been… munched on.
Blue Lion Classroom
Study materials on the desks of… well, Sven and Ninian. They’re the only students. Professor Sigurd’s desk has some documents on it, as well as some half-marked tests. The large, embroidered flag at the back of the class has also been… munched on.
Golden Deer Classroom
Some desks near the entrance are on their side. If you crouch behind them they could serve as some sort of weird fortification. There are a lot of study materials on Frederica’s desk, and the chalkboard is filled with colourful drawings and puns about language. Take a wild guess what has happened to the large, embroidered flag at the back of the class.
Dormitories (1F) *UPDATED*
Every Professor, as well as students of commoner descent, have their rooms on the first floor. The doors to these rooms cannot be locked.
Stocke and Ekcots’ Room
The top half of the door is destroyed. Wooden shavings are everywhere.
Ayra’s Room
A very nice looking sword is placed neatly next to her bed.
Dormitories (2F) *UPDATED*
Students of noble descent have their rooms on the second floor. The doors to these rooms cannot be locked.
Julius’ Room *UPDATEDx3*
One of the lost books, “Skadi’s Handbook: Book of the Ymir Edition” was found under his bed, as well as a little cup. There is a little puddle under his door handle.
The cup smells of nothing in particular.
Julius' room is the northernmost dorm on the second floor. His window faces East, and gives a view of the Officers' Academy Classrooms backside. No matter how much you contort your body while looking through the window, you can only see things to the East. There is however a window, facing north, right outside of Julius' room.
The cup matches those used in the Dining Hall. Those same cups were used this morning during the Assembly.
Arvis’ Room
Smells of BBQ.
Library
A bookshelf in the Library has completely toppled over, spilling books all over the floor. There appears to have been some attempts to clean up, but no one has really bothered.
Missing Books *UPDATEDx2*
The librarian, Tomas, states that the following books are missing from the Library:
-CWCVille: The Tale of a Fallen Empire - Tragedy of a fallen empire. Very explicit. Checked out by Julius.
-Emperor of the Mountain - Wholesome story about a man named Lord Hank. Checked out by Arvis
-Splash Potion Recipes (Written and edited by Stephen Minecraft) - Does what it says on the tin. Checked out by Constance.
-Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Julius Rules - Book for kids. Inflicts psychological damage on one person in particular. Missing.
-Skadi’s Handbook: Book of the Ymir Edition - Bestselling book about the basics of ice magic. Missing, found under Julius' bed.
-Mjolnir's Attunement: The 6 Lessons of Thrud - A book on very advanced Thunder magic. Checked out by Constance.
-Warriors of the Crested Flames: Three Copes - Old history book. No one wants it. Checked out by Frederica.
…Of the books that are still in the Library, some of their covers have been… uh, chewed up.
Greenhouse Plants *UPDATED*
Some plants near the entrance have been flattened. The Gardener also notes that some plants were taken without her knowledge. These plants include some medicinal herbs, Elephant's Ear, Lords and Ladies, as well as some “stat boosting items”, whatever those are.
Deadly Nightshade is not grown in the Greenhouse.
Strange Device in the Dining Room
A strange device. A circular body stands on three legs. The top side of the circular body is flat, and filled with what seem to be miniature prison bars. When the device is turned “on”, a light shines from behind these bars, and the device gives off a fair amount of heat. Arvis was vehement that it not be damaged.
Student Schedule
A schedule for all the students is posted in the Reception Hall. Each Professor also has a copy of their own. Strangely, Julius’ name has been wiped off of the one in the Reception Hall.
Training Grounds
It seems some combat took place here, and people were not kind enough to clean up. There are remnants of magic use, as well as of regular combat.
Training Dummies *UPDATED*
A note in the Training Grounds indicates that the Training Dummies were under maintenance for the entire day and were not to be used.
There were 12 training dummies last night, but now there are only 11.
The dummies usually wear armour. Various kinds are available to choose from, though it's all rather small in order to fit onto their bodies.
When naked (The poor things), they bear no resemblance to the Unknown Corpse.
Floor of the Cathedral *UPDATED*
Dirt marks on the floor indicate that some sort of struggle took place in the middle of the Cathedral. There is no traces of blood around the area, or anywhere in the Cathedral at all, for that matter.
Missing Cathedral Decorations *NEW*
A large chunk of the cloth covering the altar has been torn around the backside. You would not notice any damage done from the front. It's a kinda big cloth. There are large curtains that can open and close, separating the altar from the seats in which church attendees sit. A fair bit of these large curtains have been ripped off as well.
Layout of the Cathedral *NEW*
The Cathedral is split into a front and back area. The front area is accessible at all times of the day to all, your general generic church building. The back area of the church contains valuable artefacts and coffins in which the bodies of Saints lie. This back area is known as the "Holy Tomb".
Kidnapped Julius?! *NEW*
Julius was found by Catherine, tied up and gagged within a coffin in the Holy Tomb. His face was covered in soot, and he appeared to have a few bruises over his face and head.
Remnants of explosion
One of the walls of the Reception Hall is charred, and one of the tables has been split in half. There is a… very weird smell. Constance’s clothes are covered with similar smelling soot.
Church Staff
Seteth, Rhea, and any other character not controlled by a player were accounted for by each other or by Knights of Seiros for the entire day. They did not commit the crime.
Knights’ Hall
Some suits of armour have been moved to create a closed-off area in the corner of the room. An ornate dagger, valued highly by the church, is also missing.
Stables
Someone was unfortunate enough to step in horse poop.
Length of Time
Each action lasts half an hour. Action 0 ended at 10am.
Action Economy *UPDATED*
You can visit two locations, maximum, in a single action. Not even the mighty Blackened Advantage can allow you to visit more.
Each Action is split into two "mini-actions", each taking 15 minutes. All characters leave and enter rooms at roughly the same time. Thus, it is impossible for Character A to be on his first Mini-Action, while B is on her second.
Day Off
It’s your day off! No classes today! Anyone could do anything they pleased!
Rules of Magic
Magic may not be cast without first reading the corresponding book. No one may use magic without the book in their possession.
Rules of Ice Magic
At the level which is described in Skadi's Handbook, you cannot conjure ice out of nothing. There must be a present water source for you to freeze. The spell to freeze water can be cast from a surprising range, but clear line of sight with the target must be present.
