Yoshino speaks up.
"This... may not be related to the murder.... but I think it does."
"So originally I investigated the Alchemy Room. I noticed a few peculiar things. First of all, a guy in a scientist coat was there again, chilling by some chairs. Second of all a potion against migraines has been taken from here. Lastly, I saw a strange cauldron full of runes in the corner of the room, with clear signs of being used.
As I approached and started investigating the cauldron, the Scientist guy comments that it's not really his work. It was just used to make something peculiar and strange. He also refused to go into any details, claiming he follows client "confidentiality". He told me if I wanted any information about it, I'd be better off reading a book about it in the library. Specifically a book about ice elements."
Yoshino whacks a heavy book onto her podium. *Bang*
"This is a book about Ice Magic, it took a bit of searching but I think I found something, specifically a transmutation ritual which matches the cauldron I found."
Yoshinon clears his throat, and Yoshino places Yoshinon in front of the page to read. He speaks clearly.
"One of the practical applications of the cauldron include spells that can create replicas of physical objects by using water and freezing it in the desired shape. This type of spell seems to require little technical knowledge of ice magic and more so relies on the spellcaster’s ability to follow simple instructions written down in this book.
The required components include filling the cauldron with water, the catalyst and drawing a magic circle containing a triangle pointing down, the alchemical symbol for water. The catalyst refers to the physical object the spellcaster wishes to replicate, which must be non-magical in nature, as the ritual is incapable of replicating magic items.
After placing the catalyst inside the triangle, the book instructs the spellcaster to read out the activation words written on the cauldron. The replica of the catalyst will form in the water, which will begin to cool over a period of time before the ritual is completed.
The cauldron pressurizes the existing water and ice, resulting in compressed, heat-resilient ice that does not melt at room temperature.
Something at high temperatures would dispose of it, though the amount of water left behind by compressed ice may be more than usual."
Yoshinon does a little puppet bow.
"Um so..... initially I didn't know if this linked" Yoshino starts.
"But at the end it says how high temperatures would dispose of it but a lot of water might be left behind.... I want to ask the crime scene investigators if they found any water... although....." Yoshino seems unsure.
Yoshinon speaks up for her.
"She's worried the heat would then make the water turn gaseous, that is, if it acts like normal water, or magical water, thus is it still water?"
Yoshino nods.
"I.... hope.... that leads.... to something..."
