Chapter 3: To never wake up again (Deadly 1)

After an eventful day of activities and sleeping, everybody decides to wake up and meet in the Entrance Hall.


"S-Sorry everyone! Mari got distracted and completely forgot to clean up the kitchen and dining hall. Now it's such a stinky, stinky mess everywhere, that breakfast would have to be delayed..."

Everyone comes out of their respecive sleeping spots in the morning to join in. Jafar and Kyuku look really pale, bags under their eyes and are very exhausted compared to everyone else. Mipha runs in last, also looking pretty tired. You also note that one person is missing.

Wait what? Where is Battler at?


"O-Oh? Has someone decided to sleep in? I mean, Mari doesn't mind but..."


"Don't worry, Mari, everyone. Perhaps our Lady wishes to join us too."

Most of you- if not all... Decide to join Ren, simply because you like being noisy. Mari stays behind to slowly get started on the cleaning process.You see Ren go into Entrance Hall, pick up the list with everyone's sleeping rooms, then hum a bit in wonder. You all go up to the 2nd floor Bedroom. Ren tries moving the doorknob, finding the room locked off.


"Hmm... As expected, it's still locked... But if it is... Would Battler really be here? I suppose it wouldn't hurt to check."

You see Ren reach into his pocket and produce a single, small key. He uses the key to unlock the door. He opens it and...

You are hit with a horrible wave of heat and the stench of decomposing flesh.

And lying on the bed, you find a very clearly dead, decomposing Battler.

"This... Was not meant to happen... So why?"

You all suddenly hear The Witch behind you. Her otherwise stoic expression seems to be shifting from various degrees of confusion, before finally settling to something more expressionless.

"I... No. No matter. I will be looking into some matters on my end. For now, have this."

She snaps her fingers and a folder appears in everyone's hands.

Death Report 2.1:

Victim: Battler Ushiromiya
Location: Second Floor Bedroom
Time of Death:
Cause of Death: Multi-organ failure
Other Details:
The corpse is decomposing and the room is uncomfortably hot. A key rests on a nightstand by the bed where Battler lies.

"You shall be solving this mystery. Now that it has happened, we are all left with no choice. Find the possible culprits and present me the answer to this mystery."


"I will be waiting. Do not disappoint me."

With that, you see The Witch disappear upstairs, leaving you alone with Ren, who seems at loss of what has happened.

Yoshino huffs. "I need more time to look into that issue Yoshinon."

Yoshinon: "Well we have to deal with this first."

Yoshino: "But it's not her! You just saw she's acting strange!"

Yoshinon: "Just do the job Yoshi!"

Yoshino rolls her eyes. "I'll take the Crime Scene and the Alchemy Lab.

[Evie The Bat]

Jane looks over the scene, getting hit with a wave of nostalgia. Regardless, he clears his throat

"I suppose we need to solve this. I think investigating the boiler room and sick bay will help, boop. I spent a fair bit of time in those locations, so I can tell if anything is out of place that could've aided our killer"

[Misaki]

*Satorae looks at the scene with stoic indifference.*



"It's deja vu all over again... Seriously. This poor incompetent guy keeps ending up in death game scenarios and at this point, maybe the best thing he could have done is move to Hinamizawa cuz there are totally no death games there!"

*The hell is she talking about?*

"Actually it was meant to happen and you totally knew it! This is a death game what did you expect? Why indeed my Great Witch. This was meant to be a peaceful uneventful night but obviously someone decided to disturb the peace!"

"Anyway. I will investigate the Greenhouse and the Kitchen!"

Kuruguru rubs her eyes wearily as she goes over the file, "Organ failure once more... Others have claimed related locations, so I will search the scene and sick bay. Perhaps someone should search areas related to the heat as well."

Clover goes to investigate the entrance hall and bathroom (F).

[Dr. Grownup]

Hoo-wee, does that smell bad! Nevertheless, it seems as though there is an opportunity for mature, adult investigation. A freshly-shaven Joe Grownup lumbers through the Entrance Hall, his legs quivering in contrast to the affable—if forced—smile on his face.


"As long as we're splitting up, we should cover as much ground as we can. I'll go to the... Aquarium! And... the Storage room! Good luck, everybody!"

[Yuri (Silentking)]

Rudy walks in covered in treated burn marks. After listening to everyone, and taking a suggestion from someone, he gave a nod to himself on where to go. "I'll double up on the storage and also check the rose garden just in case."

[Zero One/Zero Two]

RIP Battler. Guy even got roasted, even after his death. *Pat².*

[Yuri (Silentking)]

"Did you just pat a corpse?" Rudy asked with mild confusion.

[Kuroneko]

Noticing that another was already at the sick bay, Kuruguru heads to cover the laundry room instead.

[Magnus]

”I’ll double up on the Alchemy Lab and Boiler Room.”
