Chapter 1: Who Contributed to the Fall of an Oceanian?

Kuruguru pulls out a cork board and starts pinning pictures of everyone, the body, and the scene to it. She scribbles notes as people talk and adds them under the relevant photographs.

"I don't think it was Yura's card that did it..."


He suddenly grins, reaching into his pocket.


"...it was mine!"


He quickly withdraws from his pocket, revealing... an R-rated movie ticket. He looks down at his hand after a moment and looks very confused.


"Oh, oops, I... where'd it go?"


He pads his pockets some more, muttering to himself. Eventually he gives up and shrugs.


"Well I used to have a weird card. I think it was called the... Temperature? (Ow!) Temperance! It was The Temperance. It said something about... balance and discord, or something like that. If there was imbalance, I'd be drawn to it! I think that means arguing and fighting and all that nonsense. Though... now that I think about it, it said the imbalance had to be at least two rooms away! But it definitely came from the direction of the Chamber of Solace while I was in the Special Room..."

Pausing for a moment, she asks, "Did the Temperance notify you at the end of the third hour or beginning of the fourth hour?"

Clover glances at Joe and Kyuku. "You two were seen around the Chamber of Solace around the start of A3. Mind telling me where you went from there? More specifically, did you see anything or anyone weird in the basement during the rest of A3 or even A4?"

"The third hour... I was..." She pulls out her notebook and flips through it, "I left the Opera Hall with Yoshida at the start of the hour, passing Takiji and Spell Craft on the way out. Spell had a sword for some reason. Yoshida stopped at the courtyard where Jane happened to be. While passing by, I noticed Oracle was in the kitchen. Sholmes and the little tyrant were passing through the Chamber of Solace at this time. Joe was in the Special Chamber when I arrived." As she talks, she pulls out a spool of red string and starts connecting various points on the board. "To avoid the couple becoming impatient with the questions, I headed out to the Courtyard. Jane was in the Dining Hall when I passed. For a while, I was alone in the courtyard. However, a shimmer distracted me from my investigation of the pedestal. Snake appeared all of a sudden in what I suspect to be some form of teleportation. Storm arrives some time later."

[Oracle]

Oracle takes a second to speak up, "I'm unsure if it helps the case at all, or was said already, but action three I was in the kitchen and I saw Yura heading down to the basement, along with Battler and Kyuku. Leaving the basement during this action was Satan and Vael, Ecel and Hemlock. Also in the kitchen, from the other entrance, was Pogokuma and Cloak."

「Excuse me for asking for, but can every tell each other where we at the third hour of night. I, for one, as you may know by one of our previous conversations, I was at the Carriage Gate with Snake and Clover, searching for something. Now, may I please hear where you all were?」

So I investigated the courtyard. Basically it had snow which was pog. Something was dragged into the opera hall. And there was a hollow spot in the bushes. Thas it.

"Kitchen, Main Hall, Opera Room, Merchant Room, Special Chamber."

Hanna looked around nervously

"H-Hi! Yeah that was me."

"During the third action, I went to clear my head... having had dealt with some infuriating god. I had a look at the stars in the Courtyard, when I came across a body.... lying in the snow! I freaked a little, and tried to move them!"

"Unfortunately, I wasn't strong enough to pick them up, and I couldn't just leave them in the snow, so I dragged them to the nearest building; the Opera Hall."

"Inside, I was fortunate enough to find 2 kind souls to keep up company, one was practising her acting and singing, she's really good!"
Spell Craft

"And the other was a rather spiffing young man, seemingly giving her feedback"

"The man who I helped move was.... Tenga Yoshido I think was his name? He was a teacher in a rather remarkable white suit."

She rubbed her arm, guiltily

"The hollow spot in the bushes might have been me too. I can't quite remember it was a bit of a blur. But much later in the night..."

"I ran out of the Hall of Four, and tried to get some space to clear my head... and I remembered how calming the Courtyard was."

She doesn't say anything, rather awkwardly

"Oh and- Luci was there too, she was trying to cheer me up."

" It was the Hall of Four when I saw Jafar, my mistake. I saw Battler in A2, A4 and A5. Pfff... Battler punching Mrs Satan... ".

"Hanna where did you get that harmonica?". 

She looks at Ranranru quizzically

"Ruru? Don't you remember? You were there!"

"I think it would have been around half way through the second hour? I walked into the Merchant Room, offering some cookies I had baked prior for some rope, a harmonica, and a roll of duct tape."

She rubs her temples

"Let me think... Who else was there... Meg, Ruru and.... Battler? I think"

A look of disgust runs up her face

"Oh and- that so called King, too."

(Listen this is a long post, go press the [Source] button to read it. This is about the investigation of the Kitchen.)

"Yes! That's right!"

"The place was a bombshell, but no blood!"

She pulls out her notebook once again

"There were a few more things I found in my investigation of the Kitchen, too!"

"As you mentioned, a jar of salt and 4 containers of spice went missing, and as did a frying pan. Perhaps someone, maybe even the..."

She shudders at the thought

"N-No never mind, I think someone was trying to make a brisket or something. I can't imagine why else so much stuff in large quantities were missing."

"Oh- the spices were a whole bunch of Red Hot Chilli Peppers!"

She coughs

"Actually that's not true. It was Black Pepper and White Pepper, and 2 different chilli peppers, I think Cayenne and Paprika, but I'm not 100% sure."

"And, even though I don't think this was our killer, but there is a sociopath among us."

She pauses for purely dramatic effect

"ALMOST ALL THE PLATES WERE GLUED TOGETHER!! FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING GOOD WHY WOULD YOU-"

She groans and shakes her head

"I also counted one plate as missing, as was a cup. And some sandwich ingredients."

She falls silent for a moment, and then asserts the following theory

"So... if I'm picking this up correctly, Yura started the night in the Dining Hall, and was there until at least 1:00 in the morning. I agree with Clover, I think that the fruity smell is caused because of some fruit she ate but, whoever investigated the Dining Hall, could you confirm if there was any missing fruit?"

"After that it's not clear where she went, but according to Yoshida, she went to the Tower of Worship.... Did anyone else visit there during the night? I don't think anyone investigated it."

"And then, she went into the Basement, the Chamber of Solace specifically, where she would- meet her death... I think that she was injected with a sleeping agent, which they got from the Merchant. I don't think our killer was properly prepared to kill someone... Perhaps they just wanted the electric shocks to end?"

"After injecting Yura, at around the turn of the 3rd hour, the killer discretely went up to the Kitchen, grabbed a knife, and climbed back downstairs. That is when the knife was..."

She shook her head

"The only question this leaves me is well, how did nobody see the body until so much later?"

"So you were the last person to see Yura alive in A3, then?" Excel asks for affirmation. "Where did you go after that? And what did you do before that? No chance that you'd have gone into the Special Chamber... right?"

"I believe so, unless the others in the kitchen also saw her during action three passing through?" Her head inclines slightly, "Afterwards I went to the opera hall, I was with Satorae and Yoshida. Then I went to the distillery. With Rudy and Yoshino." She smiles politely at Excel then, "I went into the special chamber action one, I believed we passed each other while I was on my way there. After this I went in the dining room. If you need me to say who I saw moving between places for either of these, I can inform you."

"Oh, you didn't find anything interesting in the Special Chamber then? That's quite a surprise to me, if I'm being honest. I was led to believe that you, as one clearly acquainted with the Observer, were made a promise earlier at the masquerade. You seem oddly at peace, given everything."

Excel chuckles. "But perhaps that's irrelevant to this trial." His tone is insincere.

"I would love to hear who you saw earlier in the night, especially after you left the Special Chamber in A2 and before you came back to the Kitchen in A3."

[Kuroneko]

Kuruguru mumbles while staring at her board, "Merchant's Room... Definitely an important location..." She pulls out a photograph of the room and pins it in a fairly central location. "Who else was there... Yoshida and Hisoka I believe..." Nodding to herself, she twirls the red string around the Merchant's Room pin and ties it to the photographs of Yoshida, Hisoka, and herself. "Oh yes, the Duke also said that there was a constant stream of visitors, so he was essentially never alone. I suppose that happens when there are so many around."

Her thoughts interrupted as she catches a certain question. "The body... We only found it because of a little light. How did we get up to that point..." She absentmindedly licks her finger and flips through her notebook, "Let's see, we had a conversation about the wizard... so Snake wanted to meet the couple in the Special Chamber and ask if they knew anything... We took somewhat of a detour getting there, as I was curious where the drag marks led. Yoshida, Satorae, and Oracle were making their exit as we arrived. There were groups in the Hall of the Four and Main Hall as we passed. We checked the Bed Chamber because I mistakenly thought it was locked and wanted to see if anyone had unlocked it. Takiji was sleeping in there. We continue on toward the Special Chamber, but are stopped in our tracks when we find Battler out of breath on the landing of the stairs to the basement. He said that there was something floating in the chamber, and leads us down. We heard Clover calling out for Snake, so he responded. Continuing further, we found what Battler had been talking about. Clover and Alistar also found us after... Everything else is..." She pauses, "Wait... I thought there was a floating light... Maybe I was just confused by the torches..."

[Oracle]

There's a moment or two of silence, where Oracle's gaze hardens, and she takes a slow breath. "Perhaps I found something of interest, perhaps I did not. What matters most is what I found doesn't relate to the death that occured. I'm relaying information so we can solve this and continue, and doing nothing more. You are right- my relationship with Adamantus and my past has nothing to do with the current trial."

She straightens her back then, righting herself. "After leaving the chamber Action Two, towards reaching the sanding of the basement, I saw Satorae and Rudy. Once I got to the dining hall I saw Satan rushing into the kitchen, and Vae following her. Based on what I saw action three, I assume they wen't down into the basement during that time. Action four, when I went to leave the kitchen, I saw Jane enter the dining hall. I passed Takiji in the courtyard. The only other people who I passed for Action Five, when leaving the opera hall, was Kyuku and Snake, who I believe entered the opera hall."

She shakes her head. "The food is constantly being replenished, so there's no real way to tell if anything was taken. The only thing that was eaten for sure was a sandwich, because there was one there left half-eaten."

"So, to paraphrase, you went into the Dining Hall, where you saw people pass by who can confirm that. However, no one was with you there until the end of the second hour, is that correct?"

"I know Cloak didn't stay in the Kitchen in A3, because he joined me and Herlock in the Dining Hall. What about Pogo-" Excel shudders at the name. "P- Pogokuma. Was he with you till the end of the third hour?"

"Alright so listen here." Spelly says. "I'm like... mad lazy. So I'll give you the places I went last night, and if you wanna know specifics about a location, like what I did there, just ask, yeah?"

After staring at the board blankly for a prolonged period, Kuruguru abruptly turns to Spell. "Could you expand on what happened during the first and fourth hours? Those rooms are fairly important to this case."

  At the sound of the puzzle in the Hall of Four being destroyed Hisoka sighs with annoyance. 
  He takes out a white marble mask and displays it for everyone to see.

  "Since the statues in Hall of Four are destroyed this mask is now useless."

  He turns to Yoshida."According to the Duke, Yura couldn't have been in the Tower of Worship unless she had four of these." He says while wiggling the mask around.  Or at least that's my conclusion regarding the puzzle of Hall of Four. Yoshida should know better than to believe dead Yura's testimony regarding her visited locations."
This isn't even fun anymore...
"Investigating Hall of War in the basement I discovered this marble mask behind a broken pillar, the only broken one of the three in there,  along with some broken electronic gadgest pieces of some sort and nothing else."

  Hisoka closes his eyes while grinning, mask still in hand.

I don't think there is enough clarity on all the evidence, clues and leads to decide on 'Howdunnit' yet. How can that be fixed? I am not certain of the time of death. Can the corpse investigators agree to something so we can start solving this?"

  After that his grin is gone his eyes are opened and the marble mask is tosed behind his back on the ground of the courtyard.

[Oracle]

"That's correct. I was alone actions one and two." Oracle nods her head, "Pogokuma was with me the whole time I was in the kitchen A3, I believe he was searching for snacks."

"Mipha, you said you were in the Main Hall in A2 and A3. Would you be able to list the people you saw pass by in the order it happened - and if anyone was with you till the end of those actions?"

A brown cat jumps and grabs the marble mask and then teleports next to the judge.



"Can't have Observer's puzzle piece broken."

He chuckles, then he look at one particular person



"Oh my....Ms. Gold was it? I heard from the Observer of your risqué conduct in one of the rooms...mind letting us know?"

He looks as if he's enjoying it
