TTRPG -- I'm going for it (Once a month)

Fudge it, I'm going for it.

This is about as informal as it can get about it too.

I'm looking to DM a Tabletop Game! It'll be held once a month, but keep in mind that it will NEVER be on Saturdays--due to a different tabletop I will be resuming when I'm settled down (Cam Belle SHALL RISE AGAIN).

Start date will be Early/Mid July most likely, gives me time to setup and for people to establish characters with me. (Also time for me to finish moving)

This forum here is to discuss which system we want to use specifically and so people can ask me questions or even others for their recommended option.

I'll leave this open for about a week or until I feel the issue is settled.

There will be a maximum of six players, but for now if you're interested feel free to comment.

Oh I should've explained it better. They're basically two empty slots for people to give recommendations.

World of Apocalypse is a 2d6 system with a lot of the generic post apocalyptic "classes" to function in a world with your (the group or storyteller's) choice of reason for the post apocalypse (Nuke, zombies, poisoned rain, whatnot). It functions on a sliding scale of "how well you succeed" and even "failing" can be "succeeding but with dramatic consequences"

Each character does not have to work together or be nice, but they should all push for an overall goal. Example characters include: Hardholder (owns a city/town and maintains markets and armies), Battlebabe (kickass woman), Driver (think Mal from firefly) or Angel (Medic, kinda)

Wait actually, you explain about the knight radiant in discord but it's from a lore standpoint I think? How will you imagine the game system will be?

I'd use a simplified version of the world they're from.

So key things would be race (youd be human so itd be more like country of origin race not elf/dwarf/erc)

Knight Radiant Custom System
World
The world is a place called Roshar (feel free to look up a map, I’ll get one up once I get home) which is largely one vast continent with a few straying islands. People do not venture far from the coast so the world is almost entirely secluded to this. There are 10 major kingdoms with a lot of smaller ones, each with their diverse culture. I’ll go into more detail as we go over characters. Religion plays a major role in these countries as well, but as with the real world people are not bound by religion (though if you choose to be of some races but not follow the religion we may need to work on some details of how)

The world itself is mostly very different from our own. Technology wise it’s closer to what you see in DnD but it also has inventions known as “fabrials” that can do things such as make a fire or absorb moisture or make floating platforms or communicate long distances. The world is also ravaged by a major storm known as the Highstorm--which blows from East to West and restores an energy called stormlight to the people.

There is a second plane of existence in this world too, known as Shadesmar (or the cognitive realm if you will). This is the residence of spren and will be important likely further down the road but early on for particular orders (Elsecallers, Lightweavers, and Willshapers specifically)

Overall, I’ll try to recreate the world but in a more simplistic form. For two reasons, one is that I’m still just a reader and therefore don’t know everything, and the second is that I don’t think anyone else is and I don’t want to shove too much lore at you all.

Characters
The major attributes of your characters will be what race and religion you follow. Everyone will be human. There are a few races beyond human but I will be limiting those for a very, very specific reason. Depending on some of your choices there may be more elaboration needed (such as if you’re born in a Vorin kingdom I will need to ask your eye color).

Everyone will also start as a Surgebinder. This means you’ve spoken the first oath--something which much involve a significant event in your life. Surgebinders do not have to have a specific order yet. At the start the only powers they get is healing themselves and increased strength, speed, and stamina. However, if you know what order you’re in (or if not and I see you going towards one particular order based on RP) you’ll have access to lower versions of your powers.

Surgebinders can bind to a spren and must do so before speaking the second ideal, though the two actions may happen almost simultaneously. A spren will be your limiter on powers and is incredibly important to your character as essentially a familiar with which to be with, though keep in mind they have their own will.

Order
This decides your “class” essentially. There are 10 order with two “surges”, each shared with another Order. They lean close to either “Honor” or “Cultivation,” being of supreme power similar to gods. Each order is bound by rules which usually coincide with who the character is, amplifying them rather than restricting them. The orders, their powers, and the first oath areas follows:

Windrunners (Adhesion and Gravity)-- “I will protect”
Skybreakers (Gravity and Division) -- “I will seek justice”
Dustbringers (Division and Abrasion) -- “I will seek self mastery”
Edgedancers (Abrasion and Progression) -- “I will remember”
Truthwatchers (Progression and Illusion) -- “I will seek truth”
Lightweavers (Illusion and Transformation) -- “I will speak my truth”
Elsecallers (Transformation and Transportation) -- “I will reach my potential”
Willshapers (Transportation and Cohesion) -- “I will seek freedom”
Stonewards (Cohesion and Tension) -- “I will be there when I’m needed”
Bondsmith (Tension and Adhesion) -- “I will unite”

I will elaborate on any people have questions on. However, due to the nature of bondsmith and their spren, it is unlikely that I will allow people to be bondsmiths

Character Sheets
Feel free to look up a standard Exalted character sheet as it’ll be great for reference but allow me to explain the information as simply as possible for now. (Also if you’ve ever played ANY WoD game--such as Vampire the Masquerade--you’ll find elements familiar to you)

Attributes
There are 9 attributes split into three categories:
Physical: Strength, Dexterity, Stamina
Mental: Intelligence, Wits, Perception
Social: Persuasion, Manipulation, Appearance
All attributes start at one, then you’ll be able to put points into each category, upping them to a maximum of 5 (1 is below average, 2 is average, 5 is godly). You’ll get 7 in your primary, 5 in your secondary, 3 in your tertiary (numbers subject to change)

So for example you could have a socially inept individual who is physically capable but even more intelligent. So they would put 7 points in their mental (perhaps 3 int, 4 wit, 3 perception including the starting one), then 5 in their physical (perhaps 3 dex, 2 str, 3 stamina), and 3 in their social (2 persuasion, 1 manipulation, 3 appearance)
(I will either use 7/5/3 or 8/6/4, I’ll have to read up on this)
These stats can be improved down the road

You will also have skills. These are not determined QUITE yet but again I will probably use the ones based on Exalted (Look, I’d rather use a solid system and just modify it to my needs than build from scratch). You’ll select specialized ones (ones you favor as a character) and have two sets of points. Points that must be distributed to each special skill, each having at LEAST one, and points that can be used anywhere including in your special skills. It costs less experience to level up your specialty, just as a heads up.

Backgrounds/Merits/Flaws
More points will be given into backgrounds and feats, allowing your character an edge based on who they are. Flaws can also decrease your character’s capabilities, but give you more points to spend at character creation to up parts. These ones will be different from what you’d find in Exalted, flavored more for the world.

Ideals, Powers, and Stormlight
As a Surgebinder you will have spoken the first Ideal and have a set pool amount based on a few stats. This pool is how you activate powers, which are determined by your order and the Ideal you have spoken. Ideals and powers cannot be bought with experience but instead will increase naturally along the story, based on accomplishments towards your oaths. You can increase your pool of energy with experience, however.


How Rolling Will Work

This is where the differences may lie more prevalently. I’m between using the d10 system of exalted (you roll die equal to the number of die you get from the appropriate stats and count the number of successes and subtract the number of failures--i.e. If I have 4 str and 3 athletics, I’d roll 7 die to jump over a pit. 7-10 would count as successes and 1s take away any success) OR I will use something closer to DnD where you add the appropriate values to your roll and count that as a success/failure.

Combat will likely be like DnD 5e as I like that combat system and I think I can translate it well here.

Health will be similar to Exalted, though it will be divided into 3 sub parts (non lethal, lethal, and shard damage, each will take more to heal) and I’ll likely give you guys bigger pools of health than the standard.

Exalted Health is essentially the more damage you receive the more penalties you take and the longer it takes to heal. So if you take one point you might not suffer any consequences, but 4 or 5 could start seeing you getting minuses to your roll.
