Game 98:Trial 1-Operator, could you help me place this call?

[Vaellin the Bard]

After everyone has been given time to investigate, once more the lead ghost's voice echoes down the hallways, an eerie wail but still crisp. "Please, gather in the center so that we may pass judgment."

A passageway opens from each room and people are dragged or guided in by ghosts once more. The moment the last person is shoved onto the center, the doors to the trains slam shut. A hardwood stage has been set up between the trains, the vehicles still going forward. 21 podiums are set up in a circle, each labeled with everyone's names. Katherine's is crossed out in red.

Starting at the top and going clockwise:
Ishigami looks stressed.
Kaguya has a small bag of items and appears flustered.
Miyuki seems horrified.
Hayasaka has a stain on her shirt and is obviously annoyed.
Chika's hands are shaky and have traces of stains.
Steve has a stain on his shirt and a collection of papers.
Osamu has a few items stuffed in his pockets and a tear in his jacket.
Neku has an axe and a look of irritation.
Maddox's hands are a bit dusty and he seems pale.
Kiryu looks completely fine.
Majima has changed into a tuxedo.
Inugami is rubbing his head.
Blue looks dusty.
Red has a piece of cloth on his head.
Neferpitou is a bit dirty.
Rinko's dress is dirty and the girl looks traumatized.
Ramona has a red cheek.
Neptune is covered in flour and has a hand print on her shoulder.
Danni is holding her head as if she has a headache.
Laura is pale and out of it.



Finally, the lead ghost from before appears in the very center. "Welcome to our second trial. This one... is a bit more formal. Allow me to introduce myself, this time. I am Phantom, owner of the Phantom Train. My passengers have requested sacrifices and vengeance. As such, they want you to find the culprit. Should you fail, we will sacrifice the one accused as well as another who voted for them. This should sate their blood thirst... do your best..." it chuckles.

"But first. I was informed by one of my passengers that he caused a bit of mischief last night and moved the cars of both my train and yours. He has, at my request, offered to draw how he arranged the cars. I have provided them for you to use to find the culprit."

Six papers fly out from under the misty ghost and float around Phantom in a circle. Each is labeled with a time, starting at midnight and going every half hour.

Majima does his psychotic laugh and claps his hands together

“One of our traveling companions is dead. I don’t know you but at my cabaret violence against guests is strictly prohibited, murder being a helluva lot worse. So let’s find this dangerous individual and give them a taste of their own medicine, eh? Where should we start off?”

[Tetsu]

Maddox looks at Majima and spoke

"Ah...where shall we begin? God has provided me a vision on where we should begin, that is When was the last time Ms.Katherine was seen. Once we have that figured out, we shall be able to move on and God's punishment shall be carried out swiftly."

Still rubbing his head, Ken give Neku's axe a look before shaking his head. It's too heavy to be what hit him, besides..

“I can't say for sure if anyone else saw Ms.Katherine, but I saw her just before midnight. If the map is to be trusted then she along side with the blond student council member (Miyuki) would have moved into the operator room at midnight after the first train rumble.”

Turning towards Maddox, he added “I don't quite remember if you follow them after but at that time I also saw you, Mr.Maddox, to either comes out of operator or the viewing room and pass right over to the next room.”

“Although, even if I didn't see it directly, I know the murder happens exactly at 1am (A3) last night. I don't know if it was because I messed with the generator or if it was an actual glitch in the power system but the light goes out and soon after I heard two people came into the room. There was a bit of struggling before one crash into the glass machine in the center of operator room and let out a groan of pain.”

“Ah yeah, this is a speculation but there is a sword in the operator room and it has fresh blood on it, so it might be out murder weapon. As for why I say that it's because I don't see it within the room at 12:30am”

[Tetsu]

Maddox looks at Ken

“Yes I was passing by the place. Say Mr.Inugami, you keep staring at the axe and rubbing your head. Besides, you figured when she was killed. Does it mean that you were per chance hit on the head by the killer when they entered to murder Ms.Katherine?”. But why did they spare you? Maybe God did grave you with his presence.”

Kiryu pinches the bridge of his nose and thinks.

"I did see her...at around midnight in the Transport Car. This reminds me, Rinko and I investigated that car and found her sawed off upper half, hidden in the corner behind some bloody sacks."

Kiryu grimaces and looks around at the children.

"You might want to cover your ears. This is pretty gruesome stuff."

"To go into specifics, her upper body and guts were wrapped in a dirty curtain. Her face was bashed in, lots of blood and a broken nose for sure. From what I could tell...whatever cut in her half was not very sharp, stabbing into her about halfway, with half of the cut done post mortem.

Kiryu clears his throat, and continues.

"As for the rest of the room, there were various substances and scuffed feet marks on the floor. There was also a blood trail leading to Katherine's body, with the other end of the trail abruptly ending in the room. It's safe to say that whoever killed Katherine came back after she had died and cut her in half. I couldn't say if she died in the Transport Car or somewhere else entirely though."

“That they did but it wasn't when they entered, it was after. After the groan of pain there is a period of silence, I think it was about 1:30am when the culprit knocked me out. although that might be because I left where I was and try to approach the source of the struggle.”

Shaking his head, Ken let out a downcast sigh.

“As for why or how I survived, I wonder about that myself. After I was knocked out I don't know anything else that might happen, just that I woke up next to the body before Mr.Majima and the gloomy student there walks in.”

Majima clears his throat before standing proud

"Well...I will share the events of my night. It's showtime!"




"So the start of my night went like this

A0: I woke up in a kitchen, the bloody one on the ghost train. It had a wretched and vile smell. There was a dead body there as well as various cooking supplies. Oh and Haysaka was there too.

A1: An earthquake must've happened, I've seen a lot of them no big deal. I was going to start searching for the fabled dragon here, Kiryu-chan~. For some reason, instead of ending up in the ghost train suites, I ended up in the Room Hall A on our train. It seems the trains being moved around was true, thanks weird ghost. I saw Chika and Danni, danni checking out the doors for some reason. I didn't see Kiryu-chan~ in the room hall or  in the dining car A. I did see Steve moving toward me and Ishigami drinking tea.

A2: Another one of those earthquakes happened, lots of those in this place. I continued on into what I now know is the ghost train viewing room. Kiryu-chan~ wasnt here either so I decided to search viewing room B. I saw kaguya and neku here, there was a third but they had just left. I checked the next car, dining room B, and saw Miyuki and Katherine, the dead girl, leaving, talking about relationships or something. Neptune, who was cooking, and Osamu, who was looking for something, were also here. Still no Kiryu-chan~...

A3: I asked Neptune if she had seen Kiryu-chan~, my beloved. She had seen him in our room so thats where I went. I made it to room hall B and hid in our bedroom, waiting for kiryu-chan~ to return. But no one ever came in

A4: I waited and waited, throwing things around to attract others, hoping Kiryu-chan~ would investigate. But nothing. Yet another one of those earthquakes happened too.

A5: I gave up on waiting here and changed into my manager outfit, from my cabaret. There are a lot of earthquakes around here. I left our room and ended up in the viewing room of our train. Red showed up and said something about a body in the operator room. I entered a fancy technical room and saw Inugami standing over half of a corpse. Katherine's corpse. He was rubbing his head. There was a lot of chanting and then we all got whisked away to investigate this murder.

And that, my friends, is what happened during my night"

He gives a short bow to everyone

Pointing towards Red, Ken glare at.. it?

“Not only are you not telling us about what you found about the body, you also seem to know about the victim being in the room. Either you tell us about your findings and how come you find out about the victim being there or I will assume you are the murderer!”

Nodding at Red's words, Ken spoke once more.

“Since we're on the topic of investigation, I'll tell you all what o found in the operator room.”

“There is a sword with old and fresh blood lies among the bloody mess in the room. There is a nut on the generator that looks like it could be easily knocked off again, it hold up a gear which falls off when I mess with it around 1am, it is what causes the blackout in my opinion. The glass of the machine in the center has a crack with a little bit of blood as well so I am positive the struggle i heard was the time of the murder. There is a trail of blood originating NEAR the generator that splits into two, One trail leads to the electrical table where the corpse is while the other goes to the southwest corner before cutting off abruptly.”

Hayasaka looked increasingly frustrated with all of this.

"Hey. You. Blockhead. What did you spill on me?"

She then points at Inugami

"And you. What made you think you should cause a train wide blackout?"

"That, and you were near the body."

"Where were you during the night? And what did you do?"

[Crow]

Although Ken found the student attitude a bit rude, now is definitely not the time to be concerned about it, it's understandable since everyone must be agitated.

“I don't know if the generator caused a train wide blackout but it did cause one where I was and no I never intended to cause one.”

Pondering a bit, He decided to say a bit further back than what the girl probably wants.

“as for what I did in the night, nothing much other than looking around the suite on the ghost train (A0-A1) and heads off through the right door and ends up on the operator room(A2). I saw Mr.Kiryu there for a while before he left at 1am (start of A3). After he left I fiddles with the generator when a cog pops out and causes the blackout, while in the dark I fumble around the floor to find the cog when I heard two people enters, there was a bit of struggling before something or someone causes some kind of crash noise followed by a groan of pain.(near to end of A3) I stayed quiet for a while and after I was sure whoever it was had left with a door sound, I tried to move closer to where I heard the struggle. Before I could take out my lighter to see better, something hard hit the back of my head and I lost consciousness (A4).”

Shrugging, Ken takes out a cigarette and light it up. Taking a deep puff out of it.

“Afterwards it's pretty much history, I awaken near the body and get up to get my bearings just as Mr.Majima enters from the right and the gloomy, anxious student there comes in from the left. All while there's a weird and annoying chanting.”
