The apprentices, in the midst of their explorations, stop with a chill at the sound of Chatot's Echoed Voice:
"Attention, recruits! It is getting quite late, and we would like for you to return to the guild house and go to bed."
The apprentices are pleasantly surprised to hear such an innocent announcement, and while still curious about some of the night's events, they do find themselves quite tired from their activities. One by one they trickle back to the guildhouse, whether by the stairs or by the Chimecho Assembly Station, and make their way to bed. Monotuff and Chatot are there to greet each one as they arrive, though any questions as to what happened during the night are swiftly dismissed, saying they're "nothing you should concern yourself with." The rest of the night—the first truly restful sleep some of the apprentices have gotten since arriving in Treasure Town—passes in serene quiet.
...
When the apprentices wake up to Chatot's call, they gather in the Main Hall, and find it... spacious, compared to their last few meetings. Nevertheless, Monotuff and Chatot lead the group in their usual morning cheer. For the first time, a few of the apprentices join in, and the Guildmaster beams.
"Good morning, everyone! I hope you all got a very restful sleep!"
"I don't really like getting right to business, but we have an important announcement! It would seem two of you..."
"...have gone missing!"
The apprentices look around, each making their own head counts. Indeed, only 9 apprentices are in attendance. Several of them begin asking what they should do. Monotuff thinks pensively for a moment.
"......"
"...Nothing!"
At the chorus of confused protests, he continues:
"That is, there's nothing we can do. It's odd that they're missing, but that doesn't mean they're hurt!"
The apprentices raise further concerns, before Chatot quells the assembly to silence.
"The Guildmaster and I understand your concerns, but until evidence is found to show that either of your friends has been hurt by a Meanie, we can't assume they were! I'm quite sorry, but that's the guild's rule. You simply have to accept it! Now, regarding what will happen today..."
Chatot divides the remaining apprentices into pairs, joining one himself, explaining that today they'll be doing chores. He would normally take care of these things by himself, but there's a lot to do for one Pokémon! The groups begrudgingly take to their tasks, to varying degrees of efficiency. Scrubbing pans in the Mess Hall, sweeping Sublevel 1, re-filling the packed dirt floor of Xatu Appraisal, helping repair Tent D, checking the inventory of Kecleon Market, the list goes on. Worse, Chatot continues to hand out menial tasks, sending the apprentices to increasingly obscure places, sometimes sending them to the same place more than once with new jobs he "forgot" to tell them about!
By the time Samurott and Arcanine enter Electivire Link Shop to dust and clean some of the equipment, the sun has nearly set. In the midst of cleaning the IMPOSTOR area, however, they're struck by an out-of-place smell of iron. Samurott realizes the handle of the costume trunk is partially covered in dark, dark red. The dried liquid crumbles away in sticky flakes at his touch. Hesitantly, Samurott opens the trunk, to find a familiar face—a face he realizes isn't attached to its body. He lets out a cry of horror, prompting Arcanine to Howl.
Soon, the entire guild arrives to see what's happened, all exhausted and out of breath from their tasks. Everyone crowds around the trunk staring down into it at the red-stained face of their friend...
"...Then as guildmaster, I swear that the Meanie responsible for this shall be found! Let's all get to searching! Yoom... TAH!"
With that, Monotuff bounds out of Electivire Link Shop.
As an update:
Ditto is full of sand.
Samurott has a bruised bump on the back of his head.
Slaking's face, hands, and torso are covered in a dark red liquid, which has dried to a thin crust.
Slakoth's fur is matted, like he wasn't properly dried after a bath.
Everyone else looks relatively normal.
Will the tragedies never end?
As usual, you may use this thread to roleplay, discuss how to proceed, and organize your Investigations.
Here is a reminder that you have 3 credits with which to search. Each search action will cover one room at a time. For the purposes of investigation, the body counts as a separate room.
A Scan costs 1 credit, an In-depth search costs 2 credits, and any investigation action you're already taking can be improved with the Move Detective by spending an additional 1 credit! Please either post what investigation actions you'll be taking here, or PM them to me through DRG (Peregrine ) or Discord (PeregrineFu) if you'd rather keep them private.
Investigations will last 24 hours, soon after which investigation results will be PM'd to you, and the trial will begin shortly thereafter.
Good luck, and happy exploring!

The disguise of Mimikyu has been discovered!
After a period of stunned silence, Monotuff speaks.
"This... is just his costume, right? He... he might still be okay, right? ...Right?"
"...We've looked through every area we could have. We have our conclusion. Eternatus may well and truly be missing, but Mimikyu..."
"Then... then..."
