We’re almost at the end of (1)_______, everyone! So tighten your (2)_______ and get your thinking caps on, ‘cause Lys is back with another riddle. Not a crazy one like that enigma (3)_______ made, of course. Honestly, I don’t think this one is going to be too hard. I think it should be easier to stomach than (4)_______.
However, there have to be some (5)_______ involved, right? Well, it’s your (6)_______! Hearing this may make you a bit of a nihilist, but… if you don’t solve this, (7)_______.
Scared? Hey, (8)_______. I believe in you.
Now, I think it’s time to get serious.
*ahem*
On (9)_______ 2020, there was a woman named (10)_______ living in San Francisco, California. She lived a quiet life, working from home as a freelance website designer. She didn’t really have many people in her life, and the only people who might even notice her absence were her (11)_______ brother and her retired parents.
In fact, it was her bacon-loving (12)_______ who first got concerned after not hearing from her in (13)_______ days, especially since the woman’s 85-year-old grandmother had recently (14)_______. The police were called, and went to her house. Inside, the woman’s (15)_______ was found.
She was lying on her bed, seemingly freshly dead, so she had not started to rot, not even in the 13 minutes the police had been inside, but there was a (16)_______ next to her. The officers were ready to close the case when a young officer found a handwritten note on her desk that appeared to be a (17)_______, next to an unfinished plate of Caesar salad. Picking it up, the officer began to read aloud:
I cannot live in this world anymore, not as long as that monster is still roaming free. Someone in my family has been (18)_______, and I don’t know who, but I know it killed (19)_______, and I know I’m next.
I feel like I can almost hear it tapping on the window… Whoever is reading this, (20)_______...
Seeing this, the police were troubled. Surely she had to be mistaken, as her note defied any sense of logic. But they brought in the woman’s family, and after explaining the details of the incident, a statement was taken from each of them. They are as follows:
MOTHER: I… I just… I can’t believe my baby is gone… F-First (21)_______, now this…? (sobbing) I just… wait a second. I never thought they were very close… they were as different as A and Z, after all… but maybe…? (22)_______? (sobbing) I should have… checked in on her… Oh… Ooh… (sobbing) My baby girl… (sobbing)
BROTHER: How could this have happened? My sister… Why would she kill herself? She was only 32, you know…? I never (23)_______… And now I’ll never get to hug her again, or give her the pocket square I bought for (24)_______, ‘cause I totally forgot about it last year… Can I… just be alone now, please?
FATHER: What do you want me to say? I’m 64, I should never have (25)_______. You fuckers have quite the affinity for ignoring (26)_______, don’t you? Well, you can consider this interrogation over. We’ll be taking (27)_______ with us, too. Her family should have that, at least.
After reading over the statements, the police immediately knew who the ‘monster’ was. Do you?
Fill in all of the blanks using the clues provided below, and then solve the riddle: Who is the monster?
Good luck and have fun!
P.S. I recommend copy-pasting the riddle into a new document and filling in the blanks yourself!
