Before the exhausted apprentices realize how much time has passed, Chatot's Echoed Voice once more blares across Treasure Town:
"Attention, recruits! Please make your way to the crossroads as soon as possible! The proceedings will begin shortly."
Once the apprentices all arrive, they wait anxiously for Monotuff to show himself. With a laugh and a grin, he pops out from behind the large boulder.
"♪ Surprise! It's me! ♪"
The apprentices' reactions are less than enthusiastic (for the most part), but Monotuff continues on unheeded, casually lifting the massive rock to one side and revealing the secret passage beneath.
"Welp, let's go! I know you can do it!"
He bounces down the stairs, followed shortly by the convocation of apprentices. Once more, they find themselves in the bitter, artificial facsimile of a pleasant café. The arrangement of wooden podiums has expanded, making room for three new recruits. Seven wooden likenesses occupy just as many podiums; the original apprentices see the faces of their lost friends, while the newest recruits instantly realize upon seeing the likeness of Spiritomb that these must represent those that have already died.
The air in the room is heavy with suspicion and doubt, and all but the most clueless of apprentices feel the oppressive atmosphere. Monotuff jumps into his tall chair, Chatot taking his place on the chair's armrest. Once the apprentices have all taken their places at their assigned podiums, Monotuff clears his throat.
"Whew, it took a lot of work to make all those new podiums, you know!"
"Now, most of you know how this works already, but before we begin, I'd like to explain the rules of the proceedings for our new friends!
Your goal here is to figure out who the Meanie that killed Spiritomb is! You've all had a bunch of time to look around, so now it's time for you to talk about what you found!
Once you've come to a decision, we'll hold a majority vote and see who you think the Meanie is.
If you get it right, the Meanie's apprenticeship will be over in a flash! If you don't manage to find them, though... well, someone still has to take the blame! Sorry, that's just how it works!
Yup, that covers it. Let's get right down to it! Yoom-tah!"
Their orders laid out plainly before them, the apprentices have no choice but to comply.
Who killed Spiritomb?
Welcome to Trial 3! As stated before, all players are required to at least post their investigation results and some kind of summary of their activities during the night. More in-depth discussion is highly encouraged. In other words—be active!
You may ask questions of Monotuff and Chatot, though they are not likely to divulge any information that would make the trial too easy. They reserve the right to refuse or ignore any question asked of them. Neither will ever tell a deliberate falsehood.
Finally, as usual, have fun!
The trial will last 48 hours. If more time is absolutely required, we may add an amount of time up to an additional 24 hours before the trial closes.
Good luck, and happy exploring!
