Game 94.3 Trial Phase: At least you all survived the night

You finish up your investigation and you head towards the Lift. 

With six people now gone... it really feels empty...

You arrive at the trial arena and see two new pictures:



The 10 of you left get into position and then you notice...

There is only one monitor.

A large one in the centre with Monaca watching over you.

"Well seems like you can't be trusted so this time I'm your trial adviser. I can speak facts I can't tell you what happens yadda yadda yadda

LETS GET ON WITH IT!"

Nobu's eyes move through the ten podiums. He doesn't trust anyone except his uncle and Luna. Alucard was with either one of them for the most of the night... Luna had urged him to trust her trust in Chiaki and it seemed like she was an unlikely killer as well. The rest of them, however, were incredibly suspicious.

[Ktoasty]

Smokey sighs. “If no one’s going to speak up, I’ll start off the discussion. I think Akane killed herself, or at least made some sort of plan to at night.”

[Panda]

Chiaki looked at Luna and started speaking. She was actually talking to everyone, but she didn't really trust no one besides Luna, so thinking she is talking to only Luna, makes Chiaki more comfortable

"I was all night in floor 14. Most of the time, I was with Luna. She is not the culprit for sure!"

She looks at Smokey

"I thought about that as well, but why?"

Witnessing so many deaths should get easier each time, but it didn't. Thinking that another person is dead just makes Chiaki sad. Chiaki looked at Luna again.

"I didn't find anything in the Girl's Bedroom. In the Girl's bathroom I found a toilet full of sick!"

Smokey nods at Chiaki’s response. “I stayed in the Entrance Hallway on floor 12 between 7pm and 10pm. Thinking about how Akane was killed now, I notice she did some suspicious things at night on that floor.

Akane came out of the Lounge around 8pm, but I didn’t see her before that time. So I can guess she was in there at least between 7pm and 8pm, maybe even earlier.

She went into the Storage after. Then around 8:30pm, she ran out towards the East, covering her mouth for some reason.

And finally, around 9:30pm, Akane came back holding a glass of milk and an oven lighter. She seemed wobbly while she walked back into the Lounge on her own.

Just to be clear, the only other person I saw go into the Lounge was Micah, but he was gone before Akane came back. Doesn’t seem like he’d set up a trap for her anyway.”

"Chiaki is right. She and I were together on the fourteenth floor most of the night. Alucard and Nobu are also unlikely to be the culprit."

Luna reaches a hand across her podium to try and meet Chiaki in the middle, offer some support and hopefully receive it in turn. "This is a clear case of poisoning, likely chemical. While I do not think suicide is off the table, that is a hard way to go. For now, I want to hear what everyone was up to last night and what they found."

Her next words came hard. They would sound accusatory, even if she didnt intend it, but she had to know. "Also I want to know why Rantaro and Micah didnt respond at all to the message I sent. I know Omni was down, but we didnt see you at all."

Chiaki reached Luna's hands. She feels more comfortable. Chiaki knows, no matter what, Luna was there for her!

"Do you know what kind of poison Luna?"

"Not off the top of my head. The only signs were that she died of choking, but nothing was in her throat, and her eyes were yellow. If I'm right and Smoky is telling the truth, she took a long time to die. This could potentially be phosgene poisoning, but I'm... considering a few things."

Luna turned to Smoky. "I just need to be clear on something. You said she had an oven lighter. Just to clarify, you're talking of the long necked items that produce flame easily, right? If so then it's possible she was heating plastic. Do you know what container the milk was in?"

"Not during the night.I took some supplies during the day. Easy to carry things like bandages and pain medicine, but was on the fourteenth floor the entire night except the last half hour where I was on the tenth."

"Also her breath smelled of milk. There were no chemical burns. But it did seem irritated. And her skin was dry."

Smokey takes a moment to recollect his thoughts. “Yeah, it was probably that kind of oven lighter. I’ll let you know if I remember otherwise after asking host. And the milk was in a glass when Akane passed by me, nothing plastic.

I did check out the Storage and Kitchen while we were all investigating since I was already suspicious of a suicide. I can tell you what I found in each place.

The Storage room smelled a little sweeter than usual, and there was a hole in its ceiling with some ash directly below it. It’s strange, but Akane never took any items from there even though she went to the room at night, so my guess is that she cut out the hole herself. Besides that, Rantaro took a pen, and Tasogare took a mix of sewing equipment.

The Kitchen had a lot more going on, but I think the most important thing is I found the other end of the Storage room’s hole here, right below the oven. Looked like the ash came from the microwave fire the night prior too. Just as I thought, the oven lighter was missing from there, and there were signs of some milk that had been boiling on the stove. The last thing I might be able to connect to Akane is a stretch, but I found an almost empty bottle of bleach underneath the sink where the cleaning supplies are stored. That could be our poison.

The rest I think is irrelevant to the case. Someone baked a white chocolate cake with one slice missing. There was some sugar poured on the side, writing ‘Ego’ in cursive font. Four tea cups showed signs of use. And there was some water spillage on the Kitchen floor.”

Nobu nods at Smokey's investigation results. They are identical to what he found in the kitchen.

The Tablet speaks up: "In the Lounge, the fireplace was used. The room was still warm. Only objects of note were an oven lighter and an empty glass of... something. I'm not sure if it was milk or bleach, but it certainly held the remnants of some liquid substance."

Nobu sighs. The Tablet continues: "I did not, however, notice any chlorine odor emanating from the substance. The irritation of her throat, the yellowed eyes, the coughing and the nausea all point towards a poisoning caused by chlorine... in this case, the bleach. Milk is actually used to dilute the symptoms. Uh, I hate to suggest this but..."

"In order to discover whenever she was poisoned by chlorine, the vampire guy should try drinking Akane's blood. Victims of chlorine poisoning have elevated PH levels in their blood... and we don't have any lab equipment at hand. He's our best shot at confirming whenever this theory holds or not."

"Uh... didn't like five people read that book? I can't open that machine, much to my upset.. it's why I bordered it up. Only the finger print from the original manager can open up that machine."
