Oh dear, it sounds as if something important happened, but what could it be?
The coughing, yelling, and screaming of a multitude of people draws the whole group in equal parts to the living room and to the basement, where the large work table has to be pushed out of the way of the landing in the workshop to clear a path. The display vault is opened and Skelly brings his lantern in order to illuminate the now darkened workshop, and everyone makes haste to see what has happened.
A large storage unit against the workshop's western wall has been blown forward, revealing a previously concealed doorway into a room none of the guests had found. Steam and black smoke billows forth from the door and the hole in the living room floor, forcing the guests away from the area. Skelly leaps into the fray, and yells for the people in the living room to get masks from the infirmary. Tomiko, Mao, and Luigi run upstairs to do so. On their way back down they find Rei in the laboratory, unable to traverse between floors by herself, so Tomiko runs downstairs with the masks while the other two help the girl and her wheelchair downstairs.
With the aid of the masks, several of the guests are able to assist in dispersing much of the smoke, opening windows and using blankets and sleeping bags to fan away as much as they can. Meanwhile, the sounds of a fire extinguisher can be heard from the hidden room as Skelly suppresses any unnecessary damage. Within minutes, most of the smoke and steam has been evacuated, and Skelly, covered in soot, clears the area for investigation. Whether stepping into the room itself or peeking in through the hole in the living room, the guests look on with abject horror at the burned, twisted bodies of Battler Ushiromiya, the Ultimate Detective, and Mizuki Gekkou, the Paranormal Investigator.
What a gruesome spectacle. How delightful.
You get a whole new room this time. Merry birthday!
As with last round, please PM your investigation locations to Peregrine via DRG or Discord. Both bodies count at one search area. You're welcome! Feel free to use this thread to RP and decide amongst yourselves who will search where! But be careful, a murderer may be among you... You will have (roughly) 24 hours from the creation of this thread with which to investigate.
As always, you have 3 credits with which to investigate. 1 credit will Scan an area, 2 credits will In-Depth search an area, and 1 additional credit will allow you to differentiate evidence of a phantasmal origin in any single area of investigation. Don't let the ghosts fool you!
Like last round, each ghost gets to select 1 area to tamper with, creating (or destroying) evidence at their ghostly whim.

Bellamy is carrying a wind-up mouse.
Vee is holding a crushed paper snowflake.
Rei is still in her wheelchair, and has amassed a large collection of objects to hold in it.
J@N3 and Daisy are both covered in green paint. J@N3 also appears to be bleeding from several small cuts across his body.
Luigi is wearing strange, retro-futuristic sunglasses on his forehead.
Tomiko has some colourful frosting on the tip of her nose.
