Placing your votes on your e-handbooks, you all watch as glass panels slide up over the front of Jay and Arckas's podium's completely closing them in. There is a soft rumble in the yard, the ground trembling- before suddenly, the floor beneath their podiums gives out and the pair are dropped into a pitch black void. There are startled cries and startled looks of surprise, before everyone's e-handbook suddenly began displaying two live feeds., as well as the status of each person dropping down.
Jay landed on a net with a soft thud, another similar sound a short distance away. It appeared that the duffel bag he'd had with him in the storage room had landed next to him- he and the bag lowered down to the ground as the net went slack. A short distance from him in the barely visible room was the deer bot, scratching behind its eat before speaking.
"As an assassin, you've made many enemies. One of them is currently hunting you. You also have a target to kill!" it told him cheerily, printing a piece of paper out of its mouth before prancing off. Jay's red flustered face displayed some form of shock and fear as he looked at the picture displayed on it, pulling a bloody kitchen knife out of the duffel bag, some lights finally coming on. He was in a large room with an incredibly high ceiling- underneath the yard. There were small walls and buildings set up for cover. As for what was on the paper, it was the details of an old job- or rather, horrific event. A picture of his mother was at the top of the page. At the bottom was a picture of his target- Arckas. It stated that e was likely int he tallest of the buildings around this time, but gave no further specifics.
Crumpling up the paper in his hand, Jay jumped at the sound of a gunshot. A bullet had hit the ground near him- but hadn't actually hit him. Yet. He scrambled behind one of the buildings for cover. As for the shots... they appeared to be coming from the tallest building- which had a red rooftop. A sniper rifle was glinting out of one of the windows.
Counting between each shot that was fired after that, Jay carefully moved behind cover until he'd reached the lower floor of that building before quickly slinking in. The door automatically closed behind him, preventing him from leaving. He could hear a soft creaking of the floorboards as someone was moving around upstairs. Hearing another gunshot, he smirked- Arckas probably thought that he was still somewhere outside. Now was his chance!
yet, there was a sudden feeling of dread here, too. He felt as if someone was following him, with their eyes and body. It had to be the person who set this up, right...? yeah, that had to be it.
Moving up the stairs quietly, Jay made it up to the second floor for the small building. Nothing here, yet- outside of a music player. But it wasn't playing music at all. it was splaying the screams from last night on repeat. One everyone e-handbook, it displayed the names of the people how had screamed in the room that night- Galvin and Jay. Galvin's scream was fainter, because he fell over soon afterwords.
Moving up to the third floor, he saw the silhouette of his target at the window, holding the sniper rifle... but something was wrong. It was still being fired, but the person's hands were not moving. Cautiously, he approached... only to find himself behind a Mannequin. The sniper rifle resting in their arms appeared to be automatic....?
But his time for pondering was cut short by a Tomahawk sinking into the back of his head. He moaned quietly before falling over, bleeding out. There was soft clapping from another area in the room.
Landing on a net down below, his fall being cushioned, Arckas heard a loud thunk next to him as his heavy bag of supplies landed next to him. Going through it, he found everything seemed to be there- including his Grappling Hook, Net, and a Tomahawk.
Instead of the deer bot appearing before him, he saw a long distance walkie-talkie. Pressing the button to put his signal through, he quietly spoke into it. "Who is this, over?" before releasing the button so they could reply.
A voice he'd heard before chuckled on the other end. His eyes seemed to narrow with more than suspicion. "This is B, copy. Remember when I told you I'd give you a job if you lived through this, over?" the person on the other line asked with some amusement. Arckas was quiet, nervously sweating. "Yeah, copy. Guessing this is it, over?"
"Bingo. It should be obvious who your target is. Do the job quickly and I might just decide to let you work for me- maybe even let you out. Anyways, hop to it."
As the lights flickered on, Arckas found himself in the second floor of one of the smaller buildings. He appeared to be in some kind of planning room- and to his shock, many of the items here were actually his. Contracts for jobs, pictures of targets, the amounts of transactions and what routes these people took in their daily lives. He would have taken the time to ponder if, if not for the haste required for the current 'job'. But there was some scorn in his eyes as he looked at a poster of him. Malice and dread filled himw ith what it read.
"The world's number one Hitman, Arckas!"
Taking his supplies form the room, he peeked out the window of the building- watching as Jay scrambled behind a wall. Someone was firing a sniper rifle at him, keeping the guy on his toes. But there was something else there too. He seemed to be trying to get to where the shots were coming from- the tallest building with a red rooftop. It wasn't too hard to tail him there, since the sniper was keeping Jay distracted. Watching him enter the building, Arckas waited a few minutes before heading in as well.
He could barely hear any movement upstairs, thought he floorboards creaked. Startled by sudden screams, he calmed down after realizing they appeared to be on a loop. They were recorded. Grasping his Tomahawk tightly, he followed Jay quietly up the stairs, watching as he made his way up to the third floor. After Jay had entered the last room, and appeared to be examining something at the window- Arckas sent the Tomahawk at him with a flick of the wrist, nailing Jay in the back of the head before he could turn around. His body fell to the floor, allowing arckas to see what he'd been examining- a Mannequin with a sniper rifle. He'd been baited into coming here too, based on the paper on the ground next to his body.
Hearing soft clapping from a closet in the room, he watched as a dark figure laughed to themselves, leaning against the wall. "I kind of expected something less Anticlimactic, but hey, that wasn't bad." they told him, Arckas standing up abruptly and eyeing them.
"B....?"
"Copy that."
"So... can I leave...?"
"Well, there's a problem with that. I mean, rules are rules. You both tied with your votes, and as much as I'd like to work with you, I only said I'd give you one job if you lived."
Arckas's face grew pale as he slowly began backing away. But before he could, there was a loud bang. A bullet hole was in his chest now, beginning to bleed into his shirt. He spluttered in shock, falling to his knees.
"I really did like you too."
With that, the camera feed went to static and the back of each person's podium opened, a cheery voice making an announcement on the intercoms.
"Congratulations! Kind of. You unlocked floor two, and can now get one step closer to your goal- freedom. right?"
The intercom shut off as the ground rumbled again, the podiums sinking into the ground as everyone stepped away from them.
