So well I'm dead. And before anyone asks, yes, I am the blackened. And here goes my anger rant. Read this at your own risk
I felt the real problem, with this game as is, is honestly giving credit where credit is due.
Basically, I can describe it right now as this:
Imagine you are in a art class. Your assignment is to make a little gray vase. You have extra free time so instead of one you make three vases. Your art teacher decides she doesnt like this and throws your vases in the trash and gives you a F.
This was exactly how this went in this game.
Would you be suprised to find out that the actual murder weapons were the throwing knives? Yes?
Maybe its because Yosuke neglected to put up the cause of death and details of the actual body itself.
You want to know how I murdered them? I would tie there body to a specific place, then above them I would throw a rope over something else to basically drape it across. I would tie something sharp (usually a projectile sharp weapon) and use the rope as an elongated handle, making a blunt/sharp weapon out of the projecile sharp weapon. I would pull the rope up and then let it drop onto the victim.
Thus simulating it being thrown from a distance. But unlike Vini's game as blackened, the projectile weapon's description of the depth into the body (Its way to far in for it to have been thrown) it wasnt shown when people investigated the body. It took me an hour off sketching and writing in my journal to come up with this murder.
Now, not only this, but Yosuke made memories (for example, the one with me and Seadris) after I actually commited the murder. It was a miracle (and I use this term sparingly) that noone noticed in Roses investigation results that I had picked something up from the body and used it to unlock the doors. I did this not because I didnt have a keycard at the time, but because I didnt want to confirm that I was indeed a boy. But then Yosuke makes it so that Seadris remembers that I dont have a key. If even only one person had noticed that, I wouldnt have made it out of the trial. Thus it being a miracle noone noticed. Now, its just throwing the culprit into the fire when THEY cant even remember the memory. It was an utter and complete suprise to me, and I didnt even have time to plan around it or create an alibi. Its basically like if a trial happened in which the victim was killed by a katana, and someone remembered that so and so had gotten a katana while they were derping around in the storage, while so and so didnt.
Then theres the matter of being forced to leave behind evidence. Which is what actually got me caught. Yosuke said that since I wrote a letter, it was from the pen and paper in my room (even though I had asked to use pen and paper from the storage). I prayed and prayed that Ikeda wouldnt go investigate my room. Which he did and found that stuff. In fact, I thought it would just be him noticing I didnt have pen and paper. But no, it was him basically finding THE GOSH DANG MURDER NOTE.
So you are probably saying, "Well aqua if he hadnt put the evidence then there would be noone way to find the murder". Well, remember at the beginning of the rant where I say giving credit where credit is due? I meant this in giving a culprit something for the effort they actually put into it.
This means not making random evidence against that player since a trial would be considered "too hard" but instead let the trial be hard.
People are going to get frustrated. People are going to be mad at themselves when they hear the murder. But thats what DR is.
Most of all, if I had one complaint, its that Yosuke completely forgot what DR is. Its the thrill of trying to find the murder, and while maybe not actually finding the murder, using that experience in future trials. If someone had used, well IDK, a whip made out of clothes with a dagger at the end, I would think "Oh yeah its entirely possible to tie clothes together and make a sort of rope using that" and use that in future trials (maybe as a culprit, maybe as a investigator).
Because right now, we are encouraging going away from complex, fun to solve/ hear what actually happened murders and encouraging simple, walk in stab then walk out murders, in which they are a variety of possible suspects. That isnt what DR is!
I'm not saying go and let the culprit go completely scot-free. Here are a few suggestions:
1. Don't let the culprit investigate at all. They will have to say, "I'm going here!" then make a fake investigation results depending on where they went, which they can possibly be called out for.
2. Make memories to cripple the culprit. I don't mean this in the way he is currently doing. I mean make memories BEFORE the culprit makes his murder plan IN WHICH the culprit also remembers so that he can try and plan around it. It doesnt have to be with the culprit either. It can be as simple as two people confirming each other innocents.
3. I had another one but I forgot what it is
I have some more suggestions for the game, that I will recommend at a later time since I have to go now. But Please PLEASE just consider this if you actually took the time to read through it all ;-;
