Yuki points toward some of the magic circles drawn throughout the room. The Book of Shadows groans next to her.

"I haven't found it yet, but I will. I will save everyone and end this suffering... I have to. No one deserved this."

Noel didn't miss the comment about moments of clarity. This seemed like an opportunity he couldn't miss then.

"Perhaps I could assist and look through the book myself? And if anything happens to me you could take it back. But a different perspective may help, perhaps?"

"At least, I think it's worth a try if it could free you and return me and my friends back to safety."

"NO! YOU'LL DIE!"

The sheer volume of Yuki's scream causes Noel's ears to ring as if he had just stood next to an explosion. Everyone else in the building hears it as well, regardless of current location. Blood falls from her mushed eye and she clutches the Book of Shadows tight to her chest.

"I won't allow anyone to touch the Book but me! It will eat away at you, bit by bit, until nothing remains! I am Sachiko! I am the inheritor of this world! I'm the only one who can handle the Book of Shadows! Me! ME!!!"

The chair she was sitting on flies into a bookshelf. It topples to the floor, and with it comes a torrential rainfall of the books it once carried. 

"You... You want to take it for yourself, don't you? You- Stay away from me! Sensei!! Yanagihori-sensei!! HELP!!! HE'S GOING TO HURT ME!!!"

[Sachi]

Thundering footsteps ascend the staircase in a mad dash, passing by Tokiko as the culprit bursts into the room. He screams like a gorilla and swings his hammer to and fro, smashing anything in his path. Yanagihori, as Noel now knows him by, smashes the ground in a show of strength. Reasoning with him seems impossible. He screams and attacks without method to the madness.

Yuki hides behind his back. He screams even louder now, driving Noel back into a corner of the Reference Room. Fallen books to his left, a shelf to his right, and a bare wall behind him. 

The sound of the sledgehammer being dragged across the floor, like nails on a chalkboard, is the only thing Noel, in his adrenaline-filled state, can hear.

Not again!

"N-no, I was just asking. I wouldn't ever take anything without permission!"

But he fully expects his words to fall on deaf ears--much like his own now feel. Her moment of clarity must have passed.

Noel focused more on the immediate threat of the teacher. Backed into a corner, he can only do the same thing that he did before and try to run to one side the moment he gets an opportunity and out the door.

Yanagihori and Noel are similar in the aspect that, right now, they have only a one-track mind. The brute cares only for smearing the brains of the boy over the wall in front of him, while Noel understandably does not want that to go through. There is one thing, though, that Noel does have over the teacher. He's smarter. Faster thinking. And so, he strategises an escape route.

He makes to go left, toward the fallen bookshelf and the mountain of books that fell from it. Yanagihori responds in kind by swinging his heavy hammer.

CRUNCH

Several of the fallen books are utterly decimated by the hammer. The ground beneath them doesn't hold for very long, and as soon as Yanagihori withdraws his weapon, they fall into the unseen abyss below. But this was precisely what Noel wanted.

He slides through Yanagihori's legs, deftly dodging the hammer and turning the tables on the entire situation! Now those two were the ones in the corner!

Tokiko - the headless girl from the autopsy report - peeks into the room curiously.

Tackling the hulking giant of a man seems like a bad idea. One that he's not sure would even stick. Was the man a ghost too or something similar? He knew the ghost girl at least but was far more physically present.

No, no abyss hopping. Instead, Noel is going to grab the nearest book and throw it at Yanagihori's face, hoping to make him more off balance and maybe knock him into the abyss accidentally. At the very least, it would be a quick, short lived block as he booked it past the autopsy girl with a sorrowful nod of acknowledgment to her and down the hallway he goes.

[Sachi]

The book bounces off of Yanagihori's chest without much of an impact. He stares down at where it struck him for a moment before pursuing Noel with renewed intensity.

Noel isn't quite sure where to go but at least at the moment he only has one trail he can go. Through the 3F Hallway West he scrambles down the staircase to 2F Central Hallway.

[Sachi]

Noel continues running, but he realises that the heavy footsteps aren't going down the stairs behind him. This worries him, because Yanagihori was out for blood, and stopping the chase here doesn't make any sense. Still, all he can do is continue to run.

Noel takes this as a gamble, choosing to dart into Classroom 2-A instead of going down the hallway. He goes to hide behind the teacher's podium, holding his breath and demanding his heart stop pounding a mile a minute.

Yanagihori bursts out of Classroom 3-A and ambushes Noel with a hammer swing to the chest. He's sent flying back several meters, crashing through the door of Classroom 2-A, and lays winded on his back. Yanagihori screams again.

Nope, hiding didn't work. Noel swallows his own scream, tempted to scramble and try to hide anyway, but instead he waits a few precious moments, holding his breath and... well playing dead.

He prays like never before that this will work.

Please be safe Lena. Do not be suffering like I am.

[Sorin Poe]

Sorin comes sprinting from the eastern hallway, with an odd group of Inumaru (shirtless) and Ryo the spirit.


Sorin: "Alright, let's do this. Taunt him and don't get sledged. Taunt him and don't get sledged... Again." 

 "Hey, zombie! Remember that knife I stuck in ya? Let's go for round two!"

[Sachi]

Yanagihori first walked over to investigate Noel's little possum performance, but at Sorin's taunt he immediately turns around and growls. He smashes the podium in a rage. Small bits of wood explode over the room like shrapnel. His intent to kill is clear.

AUGH!!!!! AUGH!!!!! AUGH!!!!!!!!!

He approaches Sorin.

[Sorin Poe]

Sorin takes a step back, a nervous grin on his face.

"Well, actually, if this doesn't work, I'm dead, aren't I? That's why its got to work. Yeah."

Gathering up some confidence and backing himself behind Ryo, he says:

"Can't beat a teenager, can't beat a child. Take a look at this guy!"

AUGH!!!!! AUGH!!!!! AUGH!!!!!!!!!

He approaches Sorin.

Noel breathes deeply, thankful to be alive but this is not how he wanted it to go down. While the giant's back is turned, Noel takes a moment to fill the syringe he has with acid.

He hopes it doesn't come to it, but he can't let himself die when he had a chance...
