"I guess it is only fair that we allow accusations on all currently present," Veil states. "We've even accused the dead in many parts, but I'd like to circle back to the original cause of death for Medic."
"With the information we've gathered, I think one thing is clear. The cause of death was a clockwork pigeon retrieved from the trenches. This triggered the explosions, possibly with a bomb of their own attached, in the sacred wing that was covered in fireworks and flammable paint and completely destroyed the room. The pigeon itself could've been retrieved by any of us, excluding possibly the sisters who claim to have remained on the ship the entire time. So the question ends up being what can we narrow down about this murder."
"The first is trying to figure out why the Medic or why the Sacred Wing. If the Medic is the target, then we would basically know the motive. The target wanted the Medic specifically dead for their purposes. If the target was the Sacred Wing, then there could only be one killer. The only one who knew that the Sacred Wing would be particularly deadly, has the means to provide an explosive or some set off for the pigeon, and can use the convenient excuse of setting up a bunch of fireworks--the point of recruiting others--and the paint. The only people who knew of the set up going into the night is The Fool and The Mask and I'm disinclined to believe one of these, seeing as much of their path has been tracked by our investigations."
"However, The Mask has not provided much of her path. We know she was in Aqua's Shop at some point--either going through the ship or venturing around the shop as well--but all her statements tend to claim that she was in the palace almost the entire time. Considering she was followed by The Lover and witnessed by many of us through her traps--perhaps she thought she had a solid alibi. But her alibi also puts her at the scene of the crime. A coincidence and perhaps too obvious considering the severity of the situation--which would be why she outright confessed to the flammable paint and fireworks, claiming this was a frame job. I ventured other avenues of consideration. Yes, it is still possible Pim or Lover or Veil--whose opening actions are still a bit shady--could be a culprit but then they would fall under the "Medic is the target" rather than the room, and I fail to understand the motive."
"Conversely, The Mask as provided her motive during our conversation in the garden. She seeks entertainment--finds these murders, these mysteries themselves entertaining. And what else could be more entertaining than a literal explosive climax?"
"So to simply the situation, The Mask is the murderer of the Medic. She trapped the Sacred Wing early on in the night and then proceeded to make an alibi or a defensive claim of trapping the rest of the rooms in the Sunken Palace. Meanwhile she also set up the bird. It would trigger either at someone being alone in the Sacred Wing, someone lingering at the Sacred Wing, or simply when the bird's energy ran out and it slammed back into the ground. I lean towards the former two options as they'd be most likely to succeed. Then it was simply a matter of waiting. And when the body is discovered, she would claim this was a frame job. She'd be so obvious with her traps after all."
"And she was obvious, not a one of us who left the ship did not end up doused in her flammable paint--which would also work to ensure that when flames did light up the palace that the victim would not be able to escape their death. Not even with a potion of defense."
