Year 10XX - Summer
After a rather tumultous Spring, the citizens of Ronpa were eager to settle into their lives, going about day to day as they always had. Yet...there was this underlying feeling of unease spreading across the upper echelons of society. Several important soldiers, town leaders, and doctors had gone missing. Most left behind notes that claimed they were going on vacation in Kalas, yet not a soul has been heard from since. Still, perhaps it was summer fever getting to them, and an island paradise sounded too tempting to resist.
Rumors Spread across the Kingdom of a few nobles and their...interesting deeds.
Lord Azulongmon has been brought into more meetings, the wizened old Divine Beast treated more and more like a symbol of Authority. The people look up to him, and revere him as a protector of sorts.
Stage 1 Completed
Despot Jerrod III has been seen skulking about on Ronpa Plains, speaking with local village mayors. What he could possibly be doing is a mystery to us all, but he seems to have a keen eye for a good bargain. He's purchased a small home by the Ronpan Highlands, and spends days tinkering in a lab. What a weirdo.
Stage 1 Completed
Shogun Zi Hao has been canvassing local villages, looking for a new advisor to join his ranks. The advisor's appearance, name, and even origin remains a mystery. Many speculate them to be a noble from another land seeking asylum! Or just some nobody.
Stage 1 Completed
Speaking of which, Zi Hao has an announcement. Something about irreconcilable differences?
Lady Diana has garnered quite a following amongst the commonfolk. Her peaceful, malasada-loving ways resonate with the public. The large amounts of food she ships to all corners of the Kingdom certainly doesn't hurt matters either.
Stage 1 Completed
Ambassador G’Ontagnon has recently secured many important trade deals with Capitol merchants. Seems the lack of trust in the King spreads via the words of merchantmen and moneylenders. He seeks to embed himself amongst the rich, but to what ends?
Stage 1 Completed
After a lucrative Spring, comes everyone's favorite time of year, Tax Season! Each noble makes 500 Gold, while the Kingdom taxes 100 of their earned profits. Current Standings will be updated to reflect this shortly.
The Council Chamber is the same as ever, albeit a bit more stifling due to the weather. A heat wave has been rocking the Capitol, and no amount of palm-laded servants can cool down an entire castle. King Tyronius looks as stoic as ever, with Balthazar Tyronius IV sitting on a small chair next to the throne. He seems to have grown, turned into a KOROMON. Good for them. Prince Casimir is present, and looks increasingly flustered and agitated. Something seems to be eating at him.
As is custom, each alliance proposes one issue to the Council, with the King proposing one affecting the entire Kingdom.
Each Noble gets one vote per Issue, with the King and the Prince each getting 1 vote they are allowed to allocate to any 1 Issue of their choice.
Here are the current issues up for discussion:
Prismed Rim - Printing Press
Recently a humble blacksmith of the Isle of Men has developed a new invention. Instead of relying on the painstaking effort of scribes, it produces a hundred copies of text an hour! This could lead to an increased availability of books and writing, and literacy rates among the common folk would likely skyrocket if such an invention were widely utilized. But many believe that books should stay in churches and universities or else the commoners will start getting ideas.
VOTE - Should the Kingdom try to produce more of this strange new intellectual invention?
A) Manufacture printing presses across the Kingdom to be used by the masses.
(Defiance +1 [USA, PS], Defiance -1 [PR], Trade +1, Stability -1, Authority -1)
B) Manufacture more printing presses, but only allow their use by the Church of Blaiddyd.
(% Chance based on region’s Faith x 10)
C) Manufacture more printing presses, but only allow their use by the Universities.
(Stability +1, Trade +1, Farming +1, Authority -1)
D) Forbid the use of the printing press entirely, and destroy any prototypes.
(% Chance based on Kingdom’s Authority x 10)
Provincia Smaragdina - A Strange Wanderer
Some sort of wizard has wandered into the castle of the High Priestess Mi Amore Cadenza in the City of Crystalis. He says he is an expert in weather-based magic. When asked where he comes from, he claims ignorance. Some suspect him of being a foreign spy, but others suggest that he may have simply come from a small and isolated village. For the time being, the High Priestess has detained the man until the council can decide what to do with him.
VOTE - What should be done with this intrepid interloper?
A) Execute him for being a wizard.
(+1 Authority / -1 Defiance)
B) Allow the wizard to stay and live a quiet life as a commoner in Crystalis.
(% Chance based on Kingdom’s Stability x 10)
C) Invite the wizard to join Crystalis’ local council, and throw a banquet in celebration.
(% Chance based on Region’s Faith x 10)
D) Turn the wizard away, banishing him to the Frozen Wastes.
(% Chance based on Region’s Military x 10)
United States of Azulongmon - An Unusual Request
The Cactus Man Cactus Man has recently arranged for the petrified bones of a long-dead giant to be imported to his territory from the North. He is seeking the blessing of the council to hold a spice festival in its ribcage. Some of the more superstitious territories, like Monstrome, view the giants as holy beings, and therefore this is a clear act of blasphemy.
VOTE - Shall the council give their blessing to the Cactus Land’s salacious spice festival?
A) Give permission for the festival to go ahead.
(Trade +1, Defiance -1 [USA], Defiance +1 [PS], Faith -1)
B) Order the Cactus Man to return the dead giant to its homeland.
(Defiance +1 [USA], Defiance -1 [PS, PR])
C) Allow the festival to proceed as planned, but order Cactus Land to send gold and gifts to Monstrome to smooth over their objections.
(Trade +1, -300 Wealth [Cactus Land], +300 Wealth [Monstrome])
D) Let the two Alliances fight it out.
(% Chance based upon region’s Military x 10 [PS])
And lastly...
Capital - Matchmaking
King Tyronius has decided that it is time for his son to marry so that the royal bloodline may continue. He has organized a competition to find the most eligible suitor in the Kingdom. Each Alliance must nominate two candidates to participate. The connection to the throne would be a powerful position for any Alliance, but only one shall win Prince Casimir’s hand in marriage.
VOTE - Who will participate in this competition?
(This is less of a vote and more of an event will happen after to determine what happens. But it's still a vote in your alliances)
The Council Chamber is open for discussion. You have 48ish hours to discuss.
