Here's a more indepth summary on how this all works, plus the relevant players in the game.
GAMEPLAY
King of the Castle is divided into seasons, with each season having four events, one for the King's plans, and others influenced by each region. Most events will require a vote to be passed by the Council of Nobles (you guys), which directly effects the stats of either the whole kingdom, or a specific region in the Kingdom.
Most events will raise/lower stats, but a few will be chance-based rolls.
Example Event:
A poorly maintained dam owned by Sage (region A) has washed away poor Peregrine's (region B) grape farm! He demands financial retribution for this incident! How does the Kingdom respond?
A) Have Noble Sage pay for the damages. (- 1000 Personal Wealth Sage / + 1 Farming (B) / - 1 Trade (A) / + 1 Defiance (A) )
B) Sage isn't at fault here, in fact Peregrine should pay for the Dam! (- 1000 Personal Wealth Peregrine / - 2 Farming (B) / + 1 Trade (A) / - 1 Stability (Kingdom-wide) / + 2 Defiance (B)
C) Try to salvage the waterlogged grapes some other way. ( % Chance based on B's Farming / Trade stats )
D) Hire an army of beavers to build better fortifications. ( -1000 Treasury / + 1 Farming (B) / + 1 Trade (A) / - 1 Authority (Kingdom-wide) )
How will the votes work?
On discord! Every in game season (which will be an amount of time IRL) I'll post Polls on the current issues ravaging our Kingdom! Every Noble gets 1 vote, and ties are broken by the King. The King is not allowed to vote normally, but he may have some tricks up his sleeve.
What about regions? Can we secretly plot?
Of course you can! Once the Three regions are created, there will be a private thread on Discord for you to plot and scheme. Any big moves must be made on the main thread however! This is also where you can influence what Events happen across the Kingdom. At the end of your regular discussion, the hosts will come up with an event that will potentially harm/hinder your plan!
Any specific rules in place?
We are not barbarians, so no outright murder is allowed. Regardless of how you get along with other nobles, The King is the main threat here. Any grievances will be dealt with by the Council of Nobles. That being said, if a Noble were to die, you're not out of the game. You can come back as an heir, a child, whatever it may be as long as it's part of your house.
Feel free to name your areas, rivers, islands, go as in character as you'd like.
