Sayori goes silent, just staring blankly at the wall.

Yuri feels completely unsure what she can do to help. If there's even anything to be done. After a long pause, she stands up from the table.




"I... am going to check on The Survivor's room. I'm worried something happened to him after what Nat—ahem, after last night's trial. Will you come with me? I'm... not keen on going in there by myself."

Sayori perks up at the opportunity to cut the tension of this conversation.

“Ehe~ Sure! Let’s go check on them!”

Yuri leads Sayori down the hall. She realizes too late that she doesn't actually have the key to Room 8, but... she tries the door anyway. Her heart skips a beat when she finds it unlocked, and she swings the door open less gently than usual.

She's taken aback by the spotlessness of the room. Her eyes lock onto the open hatchway in the ceiling, and her ears adjust to the muted voices overhead. She ushers Sayori inside and closes the door behind them.




"Natsuki? Is that you?"


She stands beneath the hatch, doing her best to call upward without making too much noise.

Natsuki's face brightens at hearing her friend's voice. She's about to invite her up, but hesitates when she sees the book again.

"Yeah, MC and I are up here—and we have a big surprise! Is Sayori there, too? Close the door behind yourselves, okay? We'll come down in a sec."

Once she's heard the sound of the closing door, Natsuki leads the survivor down the hatch.

"Remember Yuri from last night? And Sayori from the computer yesterday? They're here to see you! Maybe you can even thank Sayori yourself for giving the Cat a snack!"

She tries to ignore the reasons that the Cat had entered this room in the first place as she hops nimbly down the ceiling hatch.

Seeing the ring on The Survivor's finger, the pieces aren't difficult to put together. She's thrown for yet another emotional loop, this time in an increasingly rare upward trajectory. With the horror show that the last few days have been, this bit of genuinely good news feels like the first gasp of air after surfacing from deep water.




"S! You're looking well! That's... incredible, actually!"

MC shimmies down the cubby hole, making sure not to bump anyone as he jumps down from the stacked furniture.

”Morning, it’s good to see you guys. Now everyone in the club is here.”

…everyone?

...Right. Natsuki mentioned MC was here as well. Yuri supposes it's better that he be here from a practical standpoint, but...

She glances at Sayori. If she really just wants things to be normal, maybe it's best to oblige. For now.




"Yes, you're right. Everyone is here. That being the case... would you each take one of these?"


She distributes a ticket to each club member, holding one out to The Survivor.




"These were the gift I received last night, from one of the rats. There's a special private showing of a play in the Theatre tonight, time unspecified. Sayori and I were going to go see it, and since I got five tickets... well, I'm not sure whether S leaving this room would be wise, but I thought I'd extend the invitation regardless."

Judging by the prior conversation, you would expect Sayori to be more awkward around MC, but she is too distracted by the new face to take notice of him.

“Woah! Really?? Y-your ‘S’? I’m Sayori! We- we talked over the computer..”

“I-I thought you were a ghost.. or something to that effect- you look so healthy! That’s great!”

A big smile creeps over her face.

“Wait! Wait here! Natsuki, can you be ready in the kitchen later? I need help with something!”

She skips off, giggling.

Sayori is going to take the trams all the way to the market, and start grabbing a bunch of ingredients, she’s specifically looking for yams, (or sweet potatoes), marshmallows, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and sprinkles. She will then attempt to take all of this up to the kitchen at the Inn.

Despite the long journey, Perv and Fu Xuan arrive at the Town Hall at roughly the same time. The building is pristine, a stark difference to the ruined buildings surrounding it. Inside you two find office after office of documentation, all on the town's history. There are a couple of statues in the center of the main hall, depicting 4 characters, none who you recognize. They appear to be joining hands, celebrating something together.

Underneath the statue is a small pulpit, upon which lies a book titled: The First Ritual. It is behind a glass case.

The Survivor gingerly takes the ticket, putting it safely under their hat.

I am honored, truly. If I can find a way to make it, I most certainly will. The play could hold crucial information on the last few secrets we need to unravel.

Sayori grabs all of the ingredients and piles them into a box. It's a rather exhausting journey, but she makes it back to the Inn in one piece, with food a plenty. What shall she cook, I don't know!

Unfortunately the book is behind some rather thick glass, seemingly fused with the pulpit beneath. Or at least, you can't find a way to lift it off.

This takes you quite a bit of time, but you manage to piece together quite a bit of information on the town.

Most of it is rather...contradictory at times. You find several different official founding dates, ranging from 50 to 400 years ago, as well as an inconclusive list of inhabitants, most being written down several times with just misspelled names. Definitely not real records.

There is commonality between all of the accounts you can find, however confusing it may be. Each founding story, while worded differently, contains the same basic idea:

The town was founded by four friends who were searching for a better life. This land was missing on any official government paperwork, so it was in a weird legal limbo where anyone could lay claim to it, so they did. The area isn't particularly big, but it'd only been inhabited by a single family of people (last name: Nonesuch) who had little contact with the outside world. If they were gone the land would officially be considered "uninhabited" and up for grabs.

Once they acquired the land, through fair means or foul, the town was quickly built. Each of the 4 friends took up a role in the town, working to build it up. Records from beyond that point are sparse and unclear.

In your opinion, it seems purposely obfuscated or perhaps just...rewritten too many times?

Try as you might, you can't remove it without either breaking the glass, the pulpit, or the laws of physics. Which is your pick?

Perv absolutely frustrated that the glass won’t come off, decides to try and break the glass, the pulpit and the laws of physics. He seems really desperate.
