Game 105 - Trial 2 - You are the Ocean's Gray Waves

"So I investigated the bodies (I do not know if MC posted his results cannot get proboards to work) what I discovered was that Monika's Body lies on the street by the Northern Tram Station, specifically right by the path that the Pink Line Tram goes through. Her face is covered in bruises, and blood is leaking out from her chest, which has been caved in. Judging by her neutral expression and her caved in chest, it seems death was instantaneous. Strangely, her ponytail has been severed, and the rest of her hair a mess, but I couldn't find the rest of it. Monika's clothes have been roughed up, with torn sleeves and she small cuts on her body.

Underneath Monika's fingernails are clumps of dark purple hair and bits of blood and skin. Additionally, blood is leaking from Monika's eardrums. By her left hand is a sharp rock, with some blood on the tip. Taking a closer look at her face, it seems that there are two different bruise "types" on her face. There are a handful of small, fist sized bruises around her eyes and cheeks, while there's a larger, more slap like bruise on the back of her head. All of these bruises are fresh and dark. The rope loosely wraps around Monika's body, connecting it to Petra's, although Petra is wrapped much more tightly. Judging from the not much coagulation of her blood, and her fresh face/head bruises, I would say almost all of these injuries were caused A5, at the end of the night.......

......If we then compare this to Petra's body, her body also lies on the street, but further down the Pink Line, closer to a small bridge connecting the Northern Tram Line to the Central Tram Line. Petra lies motionless, her face mixed in an expression of fear and acceptance. Her clothes are roughed up like Monika's, and there are rope burns on her torso, where a rope is tied loosely around her. Her hands and feet are also bound, unlike Monika's, and rather tightly at that. A large gash works its way down her forehead, blood leaking from the wound. Her skin is covered in small scratches, likely done by fingernails. Her chest has also been caved in and is bleeding out.

Petra's Left Hand's knuckles are bruised, and her pinky finger is broken. Whether that's from the bruise or something else is hard to tell. Hidden on the back of her neck behind her ponytail is a welt, shaped like two prongs. The welt isn't bleeding, rather it seems to be more of a burn than anything else. It faintly smells of cooked flesh. I noticed during the night as I saw Petra multiple times, that she was wearing a ring, that ring is now gone, nowhere on her immediate person, nor in the surrounding area. Again looking at the blood on her body, almost all of her injuries were caused A5, aside from the welt on her neck, which was caused A4, as the burn in her flesh has started to settle. By the way I saw Petra beginning on A4, her and Zoro were on a bridge."

Zoro nods. “That’s right. I did challenge her to a fight — that was during A2. I won. Wasn’t a good victory though, ‘cause she seemed distracted the whole time. And now I’ll never get a real fight with her.”

He seems lost in thought for a moment (who knew he had those).

“…anyway, I can share what I found. The docks seemed normal, nothing to report other than a pile of shells at the edge of the docks. Some of ‘em had been made into a necklace.

“And as for the Northern Tram Station… I found lots of broken glass and some of the doors from the tram that weren’t on the tram anymore, I guess. Looked like no more than 2 people were voting on the pink line system at one time. Dunno how many people voted in total, but 2 people at once was the highest. There wasn’t any blood at the station at all, only on the pink line.”

The judge sits, solemn as ever.

“The Ring of Tears. A relic from a bygone era. When placed on the finger of one who is alive, it shall prevent one fatal blow, mimicking death to those that attacked the person. The ring’s eye will close shut once it’s power has been used, but it cannot be removed from the finger of the person wearing it until they have revived.

It’s power is strong enough to heal the most grievous of wounds, but does not protect one from being attacked or battered. It is only the killing blow does it prevent.”

"The Central Tram Station was filled with smoke, caused by the computer for the Orange Line. The computer itself starting malfunctioning during A5, when Natsuki and I tried to get it working. I couldn't get a list of passengers for the Orange Line this time, but I did learn that the Orange Tram stopped moving at the start of A4. Aside from that, the screen was... flickering."

"The Pink Tram was at the station. All the windows were shattered, the doors were blown off, and the seats were slashed. There was no glass inside or outside the tram though, and I couldn't find the doors either."

"I-I'm in agreement with Zoro. I also examined the Northern Tram Station, so I'd say that the broken glass and the tram doors found on the Pink Line tracks likely came from the Pink Tram. I have no idea what might've caused that sort of damage, though. Given there was no glass within the Tram itself, it sounds like there must have been some explosive force from inside the Tram while it was moving."




"I can also confirm that the Orange Tram stopped moving at around 7:40 [A4-1]. It came to a screeching halt, and didn't start up again after. We waited on the tram for over half an hour with The Hoarder before deciding to cross the Orange Line on foot."

It was neatly filed away alongside the other contents of the bench, so it stands to reason this was her gift to them."

"Anyone else think it's strange that it's the two guilty people from last trial who ended up dead this time?" asks Zoro.

"And I know that Monika chick was pretty angry with Petra for blackmailing her. Plus, there was only rope around Petra, right? Think it's possible Monika wanted revenge for being blackmailed, so she tied up Petra and threw her onto the tracks, killing her? And then she felt so guilty thinkin' her boytoy MC wouldn't like her if she was a killer, so she decided to off herself as well."

Hearing what Zoro and Gary are saying, Yuri can't bear to see MC's expression turn any darker.

"We can't afford to take half-measures. Lives are at risk. If you intend to accuse Monika, follow through on the burden of proof. Even if I think she had probable cause, it's not worth jumping to conclusions."




"It's self-evident there was some kind of violent struggle between Monika and Petra. But that doesn't necessarily prove either of them is the culprit. If a rope was tied around both of them, as Saya said, then either one could've been shoved onto the tracks by a third party, bringing the other with them."

“This might be a different topic, but how did the Orange Line Computer Panel catch on fire? And what happened to cause the tram to be in such a broken state?”

“Right. I don’t want to be seen as jumping to conclusions. However with a third party involved who could it have been? It would been someone without alibi 8:10 and later. I was at the central tram station I hope everyone heard me shout as the fog thickened. But we need to get everyone’s A5.”

"Ehe- Natsuki and MC might know better than me, since they were working on the computer- But it just seemed to malfunction when they were trying to fix it! How weird."

“Should also note that I saw two people walking on the tracks in the fog during A5. When I called out to them, they ran away from me, down the tracks. Wonder if that was Petra and Monika?”

"We know her power word ability is related to water and named "Ocean"... As evident by causing the flood in the last trial. But even if it's something vague like "Manipulating the Ocean" it still seems like a stretch to use that to breathe underwater..."

"Additionally, for her to use her power word so nonchalantly when she knew she could be a target seems exceedingly foolish for her. I feel like it is more likely that this was her passive ability, meaning that her power word ability may have still been in play during the crime."

"Hmm. I suppose now we can't deny their potential involvement... I will entertain this line of questioning and go down the list of suspects."

"Monika's power word was "Console"... We don't know the details, but perhaps this could have been used to manipulate computers somehow? That seems like a stretch. Was the Monika we knew a tech wiz of any sort? The alternative definition of Console would perhaps be calming emotions, that would be a useful tool if you were being attacked... I don't see how that could have been involved, though."

"Petra's, well, even I know that water destroys computers. But surely that would have left behind some trace, no?"

"Finally, we must consider an unknown third-party power word user. Well... this gets in speculation territory beyond my capabilities. However, we can at least discuss people that we have already seen use a power word ability."

"Yuri's is clearly showcased before us. And, while concerning for the purposes of this trial, seems useless for the purpose of causing a computer malfunction."

"Mine has been activated near the beginning of both trials. Nobody else wishes to take credit for the locked question mysteriously unlocking, yes? And I think that it goes without saying that this does not hack a computer."

He leans back, thinking deeply.

"Really? Surely there's been more than two... Is there anybody who I'm missing?"
