"I started the night in Student Room A and played a game of Avalon with Yuki, Mei, Aqua, and Ajax. Yuri didn't want to play with us and so left early" (A1 and A2)
"After the game, Yuki and I went to investigate the music. The music stopped by the time we made it to Student Room B, but we had a dance party anyways. We passed Ada and we saw Viola coming out of Student Room B." (A3)
"It's true! I was there!"
"Luckily, I studied up in Lab Room A before we started! I learned about lots and lots of chemistry! Two of the chemicals in the Lab Room can turn into poison gas. They're called, ummmm ... Despairium and Kirigirium! They both need to be heated to turn to gas, though. There wasn't any Despairium missing from the lab ... but I did see that a Kirigirium sample was missing!"
D-Do you know more about the chemicals in Lab Room A, Yuki? Like...what does Kirigirium do, is it fatal? C-Cause hallucinations? M-Maybe...makes you want to die?
"Yeah, I read all about the chemistry, I can tell you everything -"
R-Regardless, someone had to set this up, either beforehand or d-during the murder. It's possible that this whole trap was a fake, a red (or purple) herring and that Aqua or Rantarmo set it up.
"Yeah, you're right! Kirigirium becomes a purple gas when it's heated! ... How did you know that?"
"Yeah, Kirigirium gas causes dizziness, coughing, and disorientation, just like you said! It wouldn't be toxic right away, but it would kill you after a while. The other symptoms, hmm ... well, if heated, Despairium would suffocate you by coating your lungs, which sounds like a pretty agonizing death to me. But Despairium only takes 5 minutes to kill, and I think you were in there for longer than that. Plus, there wasn't any Despairium missing from the lab, and also, it's a black gas while the one you saw was purple. So, I think maybe the recording was lying. There was probably no Despairium. And there definitely isn't a chemical that turns your brain to mush!
"Hmm. Back to Ada's question, there is a chemical that can cause hallucinations and temporary insanity! It's called Komaedium. It's also a purple gas. But it would only behave like that if it were heated and mixed with either Despairium or Hopium. Umm ... actually, there was a sample of Hopium missing from the lab, and two samples of Komaedium. So ... unless someone wants to cop to borrowing these ... I'm afraid the purple gas could have been partially Komaedium. Which means ... I don't know if Aqua's testimony is reliable anymore ..."
"Hmm, I'm not sure if any other chemicals are relevant. Maybe Yasuhirinite ... it can cause auditory hallucinations if heated. Er ... did anyone else check that this tape recorder actually exists, and says the words that Aqua claims it did? ... Sorry, Aqua ... I don't mean to doubt you ... but it's all part of the game!"
Yuki beams and claps her hands. "This is such a neat game! Maybe I should pay more attention in forensic science! It's so cool how they made up a victim for us to investigate!"
"For the duration of our time in the bathroom, I experienced dizziness, light-headedness, and coughing. However, if we're to believe the tape recording then progression would be slow and painful, including filling my lungs with fluid, brain turning to mush, and an agonizing death."
"Also, it should be noted that the poison is visible. It created a very obvious stench and a purple cloud. The former of which we confused with just bathroom smells at the start. The latter of which was still filling the room upon my arrival."
