Mini 60 - Trial!

You all freeze as you hear the scream. Those of you in the kitchen and living room, which is still dark, rush towards the bathroom. You find Hanako standing by the mechanical closet. She looks terrified. You play a quick game of rock-paper scissors to determine who has to open the bathroom door, and Tsubaki loses. He opens up the door and finds ***Inigo Fluncer*** in the well-lit bathroom, sitting on the toilet seat. It doesn’t seem like he’s moving.

Quick! You gotta decide who’s going to take all the responsibility before the landlord arrives! Here’s some truth bullets from your disembodied narrator:

Victim’s Body: Inigo was found sitting on the toilet seat, pants down. Although one might presume he killed by explosive diarrhea based on the toilet’s condition, the cause of death should be apparent. His feet are wet and there’s a pained expression on his face.

Bathroom’s State: The toilet’s valve appears to be broken, causing minor flooding. A puddle of water surrounds the toilet. The water is *electrified*, due to a metal wire leading out of a removed power outlet. There’s a screwdriver and pliers in the bathroom cabinet.

MonoLax: The packaging for a super-potent, fast-acting laxative powder found in the bathroom cabinet. It appears to be empty.

Breaker Box: The breaker box contains on/off switches for Kitchen, Bathroom and Bedroom. The labels are removable. All switches are currently on, except for the Bathroom switch.

Inigo’s Social Media: It seems Inigo posted plenty of Instagram pictures during the viewing. There’s a picture of a sunset from the balcony, a selfie with Hanako in the background, a picture of Harry’s health juice, a picture of a powdered donut and a selfie with Agent Campbell. His last tweet was ‘help me I’m literally dying </3’.

Kitchen Counter: There’s a box of powdered donuts on the kitchen counter. Five out of six have been taken. There’s also four cups that used to have Harry’s Health Drink in them. One of the four cups has traces of… something kind of powder. There’s a microwave and a coffee machine on the counter, which use quite a bit of electricity, as well.

Tsubaki combs his hand through his hair

"This design shall not do! Who would want to defile this amazing by death! This is preposterous!"

He then touches the new jacket he has

"Eh...not a bad quality but mine was better..."

"Alright, why is someone who is not me dying in the bathroom? That's my job. If Inigo comes back as a ghost, understand that I'm still the better toilet ghost. Got it? Good."

"Now, more importantly, there are three things the murderer did to cause this death. First, they obviously fed him some laxatives through the health drink. This makes Harry suspicious. While his toilet cleaner was good, I now wonder if he had other priority considerations when giving it to us. Second, they had to have gone into the bathroom and spilled some water. I was not the first there, nor was I the last. I wanted to spend all my time in the bathroom but things kept happening. Like the lights going out. Which brings me to the third point. The killer had to have flipped the breaker so that it'd go out and have to be turned on. I was the one who flipped the breaker back on. I heard strange noises in the bathroom, so I went to try and get the lights back on and then heard the scream."

"Which means, yes, I triggered the last part of the murder but it was not my intention to kill. This was a trap and they used me to trigger it."

"Also, the bathroom was not wet when I inspected it in the beginning. The last person I saw enter the bathroom was Agent Berlin Campbell. I did not see Inigo enter, but I was busy getting Tsubaki a coat and then making popcorn before the lights went out, again. As such my top suspects are Harry and Agent Berlin Campbell."

Rubbing his hands together Harry let's out a soft laugh.

"Indeed I would definitely be the prime suspect to drug the poor man with my super awesome miraculous snake oil that double as a toilet cleaner, but I can assure you that it is 99% chemical free!"

fixing his glasses, Harry cough awkwardly

"Sorry force of habit, anyway you forgot one thing young lad. the floor is wet and you had mentioned that turning the breaker for the bathroom on, which in turn electrocute the victim. do not get me wrong, it is not enough to point you as the culprit in fact it is clear that you are not! at least to my humble knowledge."

pointing towards the bathroom, He added.

"You see the bathroom power outlet had been tampered with, the nuts had been removed and the wires within it had been cut before being thrown onto the floor. the tools for that is still within the bathroom, tools that comes from the toolbox inside the storage next to the balcony!"

Walking towards the balcony with his hands behind him, Harry continue speaking.

"At around 4pm (A4, for roleplay sake) I had went out there to get some fresh air after sca- sharing my super awesome miraculous snake oil that double as a toilet cleaner with all of you just an hour before. (yes everyone is there at one point at A3) On the balcony, the door to the storage was left ajar which was odd because when the landlord tour us around it was closed. So being a responsible adult _{and definitely not to look for valuables}, I went over to check it. nothing is really interesting in it except the toolbox being left open haphazardly, so I decide to clean it up which is how I noticed that two item spots are empty. namely the screwdriver and the plier."

Turning around dramatically, Harry pointed towards Campbell.

"I know Hanako never went to the balcony, so that only left Inigo and Campbell to be the person who took the tools from the storage! So Mr.Campbell, explain yourself! After returning from the balcony you had apparently been seen going into the bathroom after the victim, the victim whom was last seen sitting with you on the sofa at around 5pm!(A5)"

Blushing slightly, Harry rubs the back of his head. smiling bashfully.

"_{Ah.. I had always dreamt of doing that at least once.}"

"That's horseradish, old man! We've only been here an hour in total! Almost, as the landlord is coming here very verrrrrry soon."

"But according to what you're saying, it's obvious that there is only three possible suspects! Two conditions have to be cleared! Enter the bathroom after I left and have gone to the balcony! There are precisely THREE people who fit that bill! The same two I suspected before--Agent Campbell and Harry-- and Inigo as well! Harry claims the items were already removed by the time he got there, but that could obviously be a lie."

"But I also wouldn't put it past the phone guy to have done this as well. After all, he did send a message saying he was literally dying! I don't know how these electronic things work super well, but how could he have sent that when electrifying unless he knew before hand!"

"And if Harry IS telling the truth, Agent Campbell is the prime suspect as he was with Inigo, he was in the bathroom, and he was in the balcony, all at the appropriate times." Hanako points a finger at Harry. "But still I think it's YOU!"

[Peregrine]

In response to Harry's accusation, Agent Campbell quietly lowers his head in melodramatic fashion.




"I'm sorry, Mr Douglas. I dun' know what ta tell ya. I went out ta da balcony 'cause I needed me a smoke. I used the bathroom after having that dee-licious drink, but I didn't have no needs like Inigo did later. Oh, but the floor was dry when I walked in! At least, at first... when I flushed the toilet, it started just pissing' water out the back. Guessin' it had a leak. I dun' know if anything else was strange in there tho', since the bathroom was pitch black when I used it."

Tsubaki looks at Hanako

"Hey, Hanako, where exactly did you find this jacket for me?"

"Hohoho my age must be catching up for my sense of time, but are you accusing me due to the super ultra amazingly wonderful and miraculous snake oil that double as toilet cleaner I gave everyone? Just so you know not only can I guarantee that is it 99% chemical free, the bottle and brand are totally trustworthy because I brought them straight from hom- i mean the manufacturer! I had tested one myself in the bathroom before presenting it to you younguns."

"Oh I must be growing senile, you are correct that the bathroom was dark because the lights are out. I needed to use my own flashlight to be able to see anything in there! the water tab was perfectly fine by then nor was there any rigged power outlet.(A2)"

"That reminds me however, that Tsubaki stayed in the Living room/Kitchen alone after the landlord left(A1). that place is right next to where the breaker room is, Tsubaki would you mind telling us what you did after we all goes our separate ways?"

"Oh and little Hanako, you said you saw Mr.Campbell enter the bathroom. was that right after the landlord leaves or much later? also how is it that you can see him when the bathroom is in pitch black darkness?"

"He got to it before I did, considering I didnt even get a chance to get in. Also, the bathroom light didnt go out until about fifteen minutes into our tour, when I was in the bathroom. I tried to breaker then but it didnt work. When I turned on the breaker in the kitchen later, at the end of the hour, it turned on the bathroom and killed Inigo."

Hanako grumbles something about idiots ruining a perfectly good bathroom. "Anyway, I think Campbell is right about the toilet flushing causing the spill, which means what we need to find out is who last used the toilet for actual toilet reasons! That'll narrow down the timeframe of when the murderer broke the toilet! I did not when I was there, but I'm reasonably sure that I wouldve noticed any damage to the toilet especially."

Hanako turns to Tsubaki. Her voice turns sweet like a kid talking to a respected older brother. "I got your jacket from the bedroom closet! Sorry it's not as nice as the one I ruined."

“Hmm from what you said, it seems you are saying that it was about the time after the landlord left(A1). Mr.Campbell says he went to the bathroom after he drank my ultra mega wonderful and miraculous snake oil that double as toilet cleaner, which I don't remember if he actually did. That should be about 40 minutes after the landlord leaves(A4) because I remember seeing Mr.Campbell by the time I returned from the balcony.”

“Young Tsubaki, little Hanako, can you two confirm if Mr.Campbell left around that time or not?”

[Vaellin the Bard]

"I'm not little. I'm probably older than you old man!" Hanako puffs out her cheeks. "But Mr Campbell entered the bathroom at the very beginning. Also the lights went out 10 minutes in or there abouts, because he wasn't in there for too long. Lights still went out while I was in it and no damage was found on the toilet."

"But he also entered it about forty ish minutes into our tour. He was back by the time I was though. Sitting with Inigo. I think Tsubaki may have a better estimate of when that was."

[Peregrine]

"Ghost girl's got it right, I went ta da bathroom twice during this visit. First time was right at the start, just ta check things out. The lights were on, and nothin seemed fishy. Right afta that, I left and checked out the laundry room. Second time was afta I had my drink (A4), pitch black 'n all, like I said earlier."

"For what it's worth, I saw Tsubaki headin inta da bedroom about 20 minutes in (A2). He was in the living room, but I can't say where he'd been before then. I was busy eatin a donut. I went inta da bedroom as well afta that, and saw Tsubaki head inta da bathroom from there a little while later."


Agent Cambell thinks for a moment.


"That powder in the drink cup, can we agree that's prolly laxative? If so, that'd be what made Inigo hafta praerie dog it like he did. Anyone got any idea how it wound up in there? I don't remember seein anyone touchin anyone else's cup after they was served, how bout you fellas?"

[Vaellin the Bard]

"That's another reason I think it comes down to Harry, Agent Campbell, or Inigo himself. Either Harry arranged it when he made us all drinks, Inigo set himself up, or you did it while sitting on the couch with him."

[Peregrine]

"I dun think it was on the couch, me or nobody. The cups all ended up on the counter, remember? I think we were all done our drinks by da time I went ta da bathroom and Inigo'd sat on the couch."

"I mean maybe. But... well I guess we have to ask if the murderer had an intended victim or if any of us would do an Inigo was just unfortunate. If Inigo was the target then wouldnt it be hard to make sure Inigo got the drink specifically with the laxative? Unless you're Harry of course. But I dont buy it entirely."
