Mini Trial 56 - The Death of a Hero

Everyone runs into the cryogenics lab, alerted by Wiccan’s screaming. When each person looks into the open cryogenic chamber, they see a horrifying sight: a dead body is hanging from a knife on the door of the cryogenic chamber. “What the Kuma!? This wasn’t supposed to happen!”

Deadpool, still in his towel, looks genuinely shocked.

“He was just a kid! Just a friendly neighbourhood Spiderman! Who did this?” Of course, no one comes forward. “I am going to go change into my costume and then we are going to have a trial, and you had better figure out who did this to the kid!”

Deadpool storms out, and everyone looks around at each other, all wondering the same thing: Which person here could be capable of murder?

{The Body}Spiderman has been impaled by a knife through the front of his torso. His body seems to be completely frozen. There is an unsigned note in his pocket asking him to meet in the cryogenics lab.

{The Crime Scene} The cryogenics lab is filled with several cryogenic chambers. The body is hanging from a knife that was mounted on the door of one cryogenic chamber. At the back of this chamber, a neon red X has been painted on the wall. In front of the chamber there is a pool of water. There is a giant spider web on the wall opposite that cryogenic chamber. There is a wire connecting the door of this chamber to the neighbouring one.

{Elevators} All of the elevators started the evening on the ground floor.

{Elevator A} The elevator is in the basement.

{Elevator B} The elevator is in the basement and is completely nonfunctional. The doors seem to have been forced open.

{Hydraulic Elevator} The hydraulic lift is in the basement. Only Spiderman and Deadpool are able to move it between floors.

{Kitchen} There is a missing ice pack and a missing kitchen knife. 2 ovens are still warm, and overall the kitchen seems to be in a big mess.

{Combat Simulator} There is a small amount of blood on the ground in the combat simulator room.

{Tony’s office} Tony’s office is in a big mess, and everything was cleared from his desk except for his obituary, which seems to be damp.

{Dining room} There are 3 plates with a small amount of a red sauce on them.

{Workshop} The only item that seems to be missing is the rain stick.

[Nerdy Barista]

A cat walks over and merely sits with the group, oblivious to the situation.

"Ah, another murder I see eh? This should be fun to watch~" it meows out (though the group cannot understand the cat through it's meows.)

[Tetsu]

"Aright, who killed Spidey? Fess up or face my wrath!" Wiccan spoke with anger.

"I thought we would be safe in this mansion, with high end security and all...." he then sighs.

Back and in his patented red and black costume, Deadpool comes up and puts an arm on Wiccan's shoulder. "There there buddy. Murder happens all the time in our line of work. Although this one was pprreeeettyyyyy unexpected. Oh and I spent all of our security budget on a nuke! You know what they say, no-one's gonna attack someone with a nuke!"

Doreen stuttered a bit through a nervous, buck-toothed smile. The teen was a bit shaken at such a horrible sight. "S-someone killed Spiderman? But, he's Spiderman! He's got super-cool spider powers and stuff!" She looked to her trusty squirrel sidekick Monkey Joe, who had scurried up to sit on her shoulder. The tiny creature nodded, apparently as incredulous as Doreen. "We gotta find out who did this! There's a... a villain among us!"

[peterparker]

Suddenly, everyone's eyes are drawn to a ghostly figure who is floating in through the wall! It seems to be Spiderman, still in his costume. He looks as confused as everyone else. 

"What's going on? Did somebody kill me? And after I invited you all to live in my house for free!"

Spiderman's ghost looks around at each person in the group. 

"Unfortunately, I can't remember a thing about last night, but it seems there is an imposter among us!" He laughs at that. No one else does. 

"I'm going to need the rest of you to find out who did this. Avengers ... avenge me!"

"So I'll be the one giving my alibi first! Here we go:

A1: I started the evening in the sauna, and it was pretty awesome.

A2: I stayed in the sauna and Squirrel Girl came to give me a delicious cupcake!

A3: Daredevil came in the sauna and I got all extra nervous and sweaty. I was a fool and asked him out, opening my heart to him. But he REJECTED ME! He said it was because of another man. I was heartbroken. Oh God the pain! The misery! Then at the end of the action he left.

A4: I cried.

A5: I cried some more.

A6: I heard a scream, wiped my tears on my face to make it look like sweat, and came out to find poor Spidey all dead."

For the length of the trial thus far, Matt has been standing silently, fiddling with his white cane as he listens to the proceedings. After a while of this, however, he clears his throat before speaking.

"Someone killed that poor boy..." He clenches a shaking fist. "Something like this should have never happened under my supervision. I... I promise to avenge you, Spider-Man. May God be with you."

Suddenly, his brows furrow behind his dark glasses. "This isn't my first trial. I know how these things work. Let me recount my whereabouts to clear my name."

"I started in the Combat Simulator with Wiccan, and we were sparring. I could tell that he was using magic, though. (A1)

I then left and took Elevator A up to the dining room on the first floor. I could hear that it came from the ground floor before I got on. When I arrived, I found Tsuyu and Squirrel Girl, as well as some small rodent. The rodent girl gave me a cupcake before leaving, and then I ate some spaghetti with Tsuyu. The sauce... left a bit to be desired, but I suppose not everyone can have as refined a sense of taste as myself... (A2)

After dinner, I took Elevator B to the sauna. The elevator moved up from the basement, and as I got inside, I could somehow sense Wiccan teleporting into the library with an ice pack pressed to his face. Don't worry about how I was able to 'see' that, I swear to God I am blind. Anyway, when I reached the sauna, I found Deadpool, and could sense that he was only wearing a towel. He tried to hit on me, but unfortunately for him, I am taken. It became awkward after that, so I left. (A3)

I took Elevator B up to the library, but there were no books in braille, so I had to go back to the elevator. (A4)

As I got into the elevator, Squirrel Girl appeared and got in too. We started moving but then the elevator began to plummet, trapping us inside. (A5)

She and I combined forces to pry the door open and escape. We went to the arcade from there and played some games until I heard screaming and running footsteps. Squirrel Girl and I followed the sound and reached the cryogenics lab, where we found... Well, you know. (A6)"

[Tetsu]

Wiccan looks at the ground

"Of course, what you've said is true, I am surprised that Spiderman actually got...killed. Why didn't his Spidey sense work? I mean..he usually uses that to dodge incoming attack. So why did it not work?" He sighs

"Well..my day started like Daredevil said, both of us were in Combat Simulation . I actually felt bad when I started sparing with him..but  then it changed when we began, he became...my match."

"After Daredevil leaves, I decided to fight the training dummies, they were not that challenging therefore, I kinda crank up the difficulty, which made it went nuts and hurl me across the room and broke my nose. Obviously you can't see it cause I've healed it and I teleported to the kitchen to grab an ice pack."

"After grabbing the ice pack, I teleported into the library for some peace and quiet when Squirrel Girl came in an offer me a cupcake, it tasted exquisite and that squirrel of her kept on chattering."

"After consuming the cupcake, my hunger pang grew, so I head into the Dining Room. But it seems people has just finished eating. I decided to create more spaghetti to eat. After eating, I left leaving my ice pack behind."

"Then I teleported to the  Sun Deck to relax. So I decided to play with my ice powers and made a sculpture of Scarlet Witch; if you didn't know she's my biggest icon..and inspiration. Knowing I can't leave it in the sun, I lift it up and run to the Pathology Lab to store it."

"Well on the way to the cold storage room, I noticed the cryogenic door was ajar. Entering it to investigate, I noticed a large web on the wall across one of the cryogenic chambers . Well opening it you all figured it out, I dropped the sculpture and screamed."

I think I know who did it, kero. Let me explain what I did and why I think I know.


First, I made some of my specialty bughetti and shared it with Matt. I made it in the Kitchen at the same time Doreen was making cupcakes for everyone. She placed her cupcakes in a cardboard box, kero.

When Matt and I finished eating, I went out to the garden to train my hopping. A hero should be vigilant even when brought to a vacation mansion, kero. Then, I went upstairs, hoping to rest in my room.

But when I got upstairs, I heard Spiderman-san crying from Stark-san's office. I asked him what was wrong, and he told me a story about his father figures constantly dying. He seemed very out of it, kero- he even bumped into the door on his way out of the room.



I think Doreen offered Spiderman-san a cupcake laced with drugs, kero. Then, she murdered him after he left Stark-san's old office. Doreen was the only person who could have offered him food, and also had time to do it before being trapped in the elevator with Matt [A5]. Doreen, you are the villain among us.

"W-wait a sec!" Squirrel Girl stammered, looking at Tsuyu with shock. "Sure, I gave everyone cupcakes, but the only secret ingredients in those were love and care! You tasted them, didn't you? Weren't they delicious!? I know I didn't try your spaghetti, but that's no reason to insult my cooking, geez! It had flies in it, and it totally smelled funny..." For a moment she seemed more concerned with the taste of her cupcakes than the accusation of murder. But then her eyes narrowed. "Actually, when I brought him his cupcake he did seem kinda out of it... but I thought he was just tired. It seemed like he had just woken up. That was around the end of A3. When was it that you saw him, Tsuyu? Maybe we can narrow down when he died."

"I see..." Doreen bit her lip. "So he musta died sometime after A4... or at least late in A4." Monkey Joe chittered in agreement.  "Here's my theory then. 'Course I'm not the smartest 'er anything, so stop me if I say something stupid..."

She looks over at Deadpool with angry tears in her eyes. "I think he did it!"

"Deadpool says he was in the sauna all night. But as far as I know, I was the first one to see him there, and that wasn't until the end of A2 when I brought him his cupcake. I think sometime before that, he slipped something to Peter so his Spidey Senses wouldn't work. I mean, Peter trusts him right? He kept saying they were friends. Maybe he even knew Tsuyu and I were cooking, and wanted to pin it on my cupcakes or her "bugetti". He wouldn't open the door when I went to give him his cupcake either, just asked me to leave it outside. He could've been getting rid of evidence or something in there (though that might be kind of a stretch).

Anyway, I'll bet that's why he was acting all tired when I brought his cupcake, and why he was so emotional with Tsuyu in the office. Deadpool waited in the sauna and got rejected by Daredevil around A3. Then after Tsuyu left early A4, he gave Peter that note. Maybe he went into the office to give it to him, but I think he just left it outside. Then he took the Hydraulic Lift down to the kitchen to grab a knife and then down to the Cryo Lab. When Peter Came down to meet him like the note said, he murdered him! Then he staged the scene and went back to the showers and sauna, where he easily could've washed off any incriminating evidence. I'll bet he heard the elevator crash too, and didn't even try to help us!" She pouted a bit before remembering her real priorities. Right. Dead Peter. "Anyway, the Hydrolic lift was on the bottom floor either because he used it to get around the floors without runnin' into anyone, or because Peter used it to meet him there. Maybe even both. They're the only ones who can use it, right? And he came out when Wiccan found the body, but not when we were calling for help after the elevator crashed? I'll bet he was waiting for someone to find it so he could come out and act all surprised!"

[Tetsu]

Wiccan then floats up from the ground.

"That is a rather odd way to give an alibi...Tsuyu. It doesn't seemed finished, yet you have already accused Doreen. It's as if you've seem to be hiding some sort of secret you can't tell us. Perhaps, it was you who took the missing knife from the Kitchen when you were preparing the spaghetti. You know, since the only person there was Daredevil, who couldn't have seen you grab it and pocket it.

You could have written the note and slipped it underneath Spidey Room or in Tony's Office and then made sure he saw it. More so, being the only person seeing him in the whole place, seems much more suspicious than possible. You see it couldn't be Doreen because Daredevil felt her entering the lift at A5 in the library. It is difficult to run up from the basement to the library in less than an action and besides, you would be able to hear her panting a little even though she could have. Because last I remember, Doreen doesn't have super speed. Therefore, the only easy solution is you Tsuyu, you aren't even an Avengers we have never seen you in our life yet you appear, why?"


"Let me repeat, you plant the note for Spidey at A1 and grab the knife while preparing your spaghetti in A2, eating with Daredevil in A3, then located Spidey in A4. Followed him down to the basement in A5 and then murder him there and then. One other evidence that speak for it self was that large web by the door of the cryogenic lab. It was a giant one stuck to it, as if Spidey tried webbing the culprit before meeting his demise. I think his Spidey sense did not work because he was in grieve by looking at Tony's photo, that would probably screw his judgement."

I was never in the Kitchen with Matt-san, kero. I was in the Kitchen with Doreen, and we left at the same time. I have nothing to hide. I cooked bughetti, I ate bughetti with Matt, I hopped in the garden, I met Spiderman-san, I took the rain rod from the lab to use later, and then I went to the basement.
