Game 95B | Trial 1 - The Music Made Them Lose Control

Natasha takes a deep breath as she prepares to speak.

"Alright. Here's my investigation of the Main Hall. The room was mostly the same. A large blood pool was around Tody's body and the door had been left open ever since. There was also a bloody meat cleaver lying near the body which I suspect is probably the murder weapon."

"I will confirm that I started the night with the Duke mask. I will also confirm that Flynn was indeed attacked by someone in a Kookaburra mask and stole their keycard. I've been trying to pursue the attacker but was unable to locate them. I have reason to believe that whoever Kookaburra is might be responsible for this murder so it's very important that we figure out who they are."



"I will also say that Tody was attacked during A5. I am sure of this since I was at the scene when it happened... Having said that. I will now describe the events that happened during that time..."

Action 5: "I was in the Main Hall keeping watch of room after an incident occurred in the stage and investigated the Stage along with Double A whom I believe is Chimon. As I was searching around, I saw Cobra who claims they are going to the bathroom though I paid no mind. I heard them walking away and then I also heard running. It was at that moment that the lights suddenly went off and the running stopped. I then heard scream from someone who was probably Cobra and then heard a clang of metal which was probably the meat cleaver dropping to the floor and the sound of a body hitting the floor. As the lights flickered back on, that is when I saw Cobra lying on the floor with a large gash on his chest and bleeding. Chimon and Alec were also at the scene and they tried to save Cobra but at that point, it was already too late..."

"Hello," says Kou Shinki in a sly voice.

"Just as I suspected, there is a murderous esper on board the ship. I can tell, because one of my numerous ESP abilities is sensing the presence of other espers, although it is not very accurate, I am about 61% percent sure that this murder was paranormal in nature!"

"Poor Tody Cravers. I never knew him, in fact, I don't believe I ever talked to him, but his death was still shocking to me due to my heightened sensitivity to other people's emotions and feelings. Death is definitely scary, aren't we are afraid to die? Life is such a fleeting little thing, it really makes you think about it, doesn't it? One moment he was there, alive, and then, he's just a dead body, forever gone. Of course, I could use my ESP powers to contact his ghost, but it is ill-advised to contact the deceased, as there are a lot of things that could go wrong. I hope his ghost has found peace. Isn't that what we all crave for? Some sort of resolution, an answer to the mysterious question that is life. Ah, I have said too much, haven't I? I hope I didn't ruin the mood, I sincerely apologize. Please let me share my whereabouts during the night so that no one will have any doubt that I did not commit this particular murder. Not that I have committed any murders, just clarifying that. Although I have been called a "stalker" by the court, I am not a murderer and could never even hurt a fly. Well, I have hurt a fly, because I don't like bugs, but that's beside the point, you see, it's a figure of speech, not something to be taken literally but in case you are confused, please let me rephrase: I could never hurt a fellow human being, unless of course, they were attacking me, which would mean I am expected to exercise self-defense measures against the assailant. I suppose I would also aid someone in ending their life if they were suffering and couldn't do it themselves and wanted me to carry out the act, and I suppose this would also be considered hurting a fellow human being, but my motivations would be pure, therefore it's a difficult question, isn't it?"

"At the start of the night, I was in the VIP Lounge. I saw Dingo there as well, but did not converse with them. Oh and my mask was Jackal. Wait, no, no, that isn't right... I was Dingo and this other person was Husky, oh silly me. These masks definitely make night time more interesting and confusing, doesn't it? They are quite a neat addition, although it does make it difficult to identify others. I investigated the contents of the minibar and found the following items of a certain degree of vagueness to them: various snacks, sandwiches, sodas and a special fruit, which I picked up. This fruit, upon closer inspection, turned out to be the Nobel fruit, named after a certain Nobu, a famous Japanese pomologist who in another universe may have very well died in a killing game, if I recall correctly."

"Now that I remember the situation more clearly, Husky seemed to be invisibly confused, perhaps by the Nobel fruit that I was holding in my hands? I used my ESP to see what they were thinking, but that scared the dog person away and they ran off, but if they could sense my ESP it means they must have a degree of understanding of ESP as well which in turn means Husky could very well be the murderous esper culprit we are looking for! Next, I head out of the VIP Lounge and into the casino, feeling very lucky that I had found the Nobel fruit. On my way there, I spot Echidna, the mother of monsters, oh how scary that mask was indeed, truly a horror to gaze upon, walking into the museum, perhaps to view the mummified corpses of her dinosaur children. I spent about half an hour in the casino, enjoying the tender flesh of my Nobel fruit and gambling my life away. Due to my ESP, I won every game and milked the casino dry of all coins, although I managed not to be kicked out, which is what usually happens when I go to casinos or arcades. I guess they don't really have to worry about money on a luxury cruise like this. I am so happy I found the ticket to this cruise on the metro after someone dropped it and even though I vigorously spent a week stalking people I suspected to be the owner no one wanted their ticket back - in fact they just wanted to get rid of me - and so I was able to partake in this cruise. Of course, it's not all roses, since someone obviously died by the hand of a malicious psychic. But fear not, I was obviously brought here by fate to stop their murder spree, which I predict has only begun!"

"Oh right, where was I..."

Flynn covers his mouth at Natasha’s account. ”That sounds awful. I’m sorry Tody had to pass like that. Whoever was in the Main Hall between 22:00 and 23:00 is a definite suspect though.”

He brings up his own alibi. ”At that time, I went from the Kitchen (from a4) to the Dining Hall (at a5) to eat dinner. I was with Hyena while we ate, so they can be my alibi for the time of death.”

Then he questions Natasha. ”You said an incident occurred at the Stage. What happened that made you want to investigate it?”

"Right so it was during A4 when the incident occurred. During Sayaka's concert in the Main Hall, the pyrotechnics apparently activated prematurely and the lights came crashing down onto the stage which almost killed Maya during her performance. Thankfully she was unharmed. I suspect someone must have sabotaged the stage equipment and attempted to kill her for some nefarious reason and it might have been the work of Kookaburra or someone else entirely..."

“Yes, McFly. But I guess the cat’s outta da bag. So here’s something else.” Chimon shuffles. “At the end of the performance, the lights above were loosened and crashed down, right on an X marks the spot. That’s why Army beauty here investigated that stage.”

”We could assume that whoever manipulated the backstage mechanics is the same culprit that used the chaos to kill Tody. If that’s true, then the killer may have been at the Main Hall area for tonight’s performance.”

Flynn thinks of what information they have at their disposal. ”I’d like if we could all share a full account of our nights, like Kou has started to do for himself. I’ll share what I did starting from when I was first attacked by Kookaburra.”

”I started with the Biker Mask in the Dining Hall. I was sitting down, resting, when I heard Kookaburra walking behind me. When I turned around, I saw them wearing my clothes, and they knocked me out cold to take my keycard.

The staff wearing the Dali mask, who I found out to be Natasha, was standing over me when I woke up. Apparently, she witnessed the attack from the Captain’s Room and came as fast as she could. We saw Balaclava starting to walk into Catering, so I called them over and found it was Chimon. We decided that Chimon would take me to the Nurse’s Room while Natasha would go search for Kookaburra.

I believe I switched into the Balaclava mask after that. Dali, AKA Chimon, and I, went to the elevator. We waited for it because it seemed like someone was already using it to go up. Once the lift came back to our floor, Biker ran over to us to take the elevator with us. Biker left on the Main Deck, and then Chimon and I exited on the Maintenance Deck. We spotted Clover in the Staff Lounge, drinking alcohol, but they collapsed as soon as we entered the Nurse’s Office. Chimon rushes out to drag them into the office on one of the beds, and we found out that Clover was Akise. We decided that I would recover with Akise until another staff member came by, and Chimon took some bandages.

I believe I switched to the Dali mask after that. Clover left early, and I waited with Balaclava until Duke joined us in the Nurse’s Office. As soon as Duke came, though, Balaclava left immediately. Duke and I decided to go down below deck and view the camera footage for clues on Kookaburra’s whereabouts. Hyena was waiting for some baked goods to cool in the Kitchen when we passed by, and we reached the cameras shortly after. Duke pulled me over and showed me some odd footage. The Biker Mask was being worn in two locations at the same time: one in the Freezer, and one in the Casino waiting for the elevator.

At this point onwards, I’m not sure which mask I wore. I left the cameras to go up and clean the Cellar and Kitchen. Tragedy and I took the elevator up to Maintenance Deck, and only I got off. Biker went on the elevator in my place, but I didn’t have time to ask them about seeing double before the doors closed. I moved on to the Cellar, and I found only one bottle of bourbon was missing from here. While I spot checked the room, I heard two sets of feet walk past me twice. Then I went to the Kitchen and spent the rest of the hour cleaning up the mess of brownies.

As I finished cleaning the Kitchen, Clover and Octopus walked past me while they carried Husky. Then I went upstairs to the Dining Hall for a late-night meal. I passed by Dali in the Casino, and I met Hyena in the Dining Hall.

Hyena and I finished eating, but they left a mess, so I cleaned up their plates. When that was done, I was going to go back to the lower deck to sleep. I found Dali and the Casino again and asked if they could use their keycard on the elevator to help me to my room, since I had no card anymore. We tried a few times, but the elevator was broken for some reason. Just then, Biker ran past us into the Captain’s Quarters, and the announcement played for everyone to gather in the Main Hall.”

He sighs, having spoken a lot at one time. ”I hope we can all use our alibis to determine who the true criminal really is.”

Jirio’s eyes opened at baked goods. “Um, by baked goods, do you mean brownies? Because their was some weird brownies in the library that made you, um well, they had laxatives in them to say the least.”

[Ktoasty]

Flynn nods. ”I bet they were brownies. I found a leftover mess of brownies when I came back to the Kitchen at night.

Jirio, what happened when you found those in the Library?”

[Hoody]

“Well, I ate them, and then I had to go to the bathroom really bad, that’s it, but I had to go for a while. So we can assume some type of laxative was put inside, also the brownies tasted weird, so they weren’t tasteless laxatives. Now I have a question, where would they find them.”

[Ktoasty]

”Judging by the map, you might be able to get laxatives from the Storage, Boxes, Janitor, and Nurse’s. There might be others, but I think the Maintenance Deck would be the place for laxatives.”

[Hoody]

“So if you they were only in storage or janitor, then only the thief and a staff could get it. That being said, Flynn couldn’t have gone into storage or Janitor because of the theif, so if it was there it couldn’t be me and the other civilians along with Flynn, however, if it was found in the Nurses office or The Boxes, anyone could have gotten it. Speaking of which. Anyone in the nurses office is also a suspect.”

[Ktoasty]

”Yeah, that’s fair deduction. Anything else you can tell us, Jirio?”

[Hoody]

“I think I may have something, but what if they thief who stole your key card and made the brownies are the same. If so, they would have to switch masks, but if that is true, than it is likely that they used the key card to get the laxatives from the Storage or Janitors Closet. Then they set them out in the library for someone to eat, and I think they got the Dingo mask at some point, and set them there before I got there. I ate one, then left for the bathroom, at which they used to their advantage, and that’s when they stabbed Tody, and attempted to frame me, because I wouldn’t have an alibi at the time because I was in the bathroom, but I may be wrong. After all, this is merely speculation with the information I have at this point.”

Flynn thinks hard about Jirio’s theory. ”I’d believe you, but I think the Hyena I saw baking in the Kitchen is the same Hyena I ate dinner with during the murder. It’s just a gut feeling, but when we ate together, Hyena was doing nonsensical chaotic things like eating soup with a knife. Something makes me think adding laxatives to brownies is something that guest would do.”

“We just need them to speak up to know who they are, and if they really did both actions tonight.”

[Hoody]

“Oh ok, so my theory was wrong, eh that’s ok. It was just some speculation using the info we have.”
