Hurrying into the entrance hall, Skelly gathered all the surviving guests together.
"Everyone, before we begin, allow me to explain: before the current owners of the Manor last left, they had put much research into their father's old work. And I believe I've found a way to make the machine in the laboratory finally work!"
"But... what does it do?" asked Rei.
"Of course," Skelly replied. "As you may know, most spirits linger in our world when they have unfinished business... However, for some, theirs is a purpose or cause far greater than any mere business... a philosophy, for example, which cannot be accomplished in the same manner as a task or goal. That is the nature of The Narrator, as a lemure, who is eternally dedicated to two things, and two things only: testing his devices, and causing suffering. He is utterly malignant, down to the very core of His soul.
The machine in the laboratory, called the Ghost Engine, is, in theory, capable of forcing a spirit to pass on—even those ordinarily unwilling or unable to! If we are able to get the machine up and running before The Narrator returns, we should be able to force Him to pass on into the next world, wherever that may be. If it works, we will also be able to let your friends' spirits pass on... but we must make haste! There's no telling when The Narrator might return!"
"M-mama mia... th-then how-a do we start-a the G-G-Ghost Engine???" Asked Luigi through chattering teeth.
"With a game of I Spy!" Skelly shouted as he produced an old, tattered piece of paper covered with hastily scrawled notes. From it, he read:
You're almost there, the time is now! Free those ghosts—I'll show you how.
For every floating, restless ghoul, find yourself a ghostly tool.
They're hidden all in special rooms—vital to the spirits' dooms.
And like its special hiding place, the tool will fit the victim's case.
So while you still remain unseen, return them to the Ghost Machine.
The restless dead now total eight—find their tools before too late!
Skelly put away the paper and looked at everyone in turn.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's pass on some spirits!"
Welcome to this very special segment of Game 92!
This will function much like Daily Life, except with a very specific goal: find all the tools associated with the 8 dead guests! They will each be found in their own room, relevant to the character or case in which they were involved.
This segment will end 24 hours from the creation of this post—if all 8 tools have not been brought to the Ghost Engine before time is up... The Narrator will certainly not be pleased to see what you've been up to.
