A) You look very suspicious, having followed Battler all weekend.
B) If we don't catch a killer during this homeroom, by next homeroom there will be 8 of us left, with 2 of the 8 being killers.
What do you have to say for your actions?"
Di nods, listening to Tsuri's accusations.
"Actually... was it not the first thing I said?"
Di spins around to face Tsuri.
"I already said that I was with Battler and Sunny all weekend up until the attack. And, I remember already saying that we should stick to one case at a time, to avoid this mess of a debate that's been created."
Di shakes her head.
"That was the whole point of starting with only talking about Lyra's case. So this didn't happen. You know, with the fact that everyone's just talking about what they did in all places, and talking about different days?"
Di gives a bit of a facepalm before continuing, scrunching the bridge of her nose between her thumb and pointer finger.
"Whatever, it's already a mess as it is. I'll tell you what happened from my view point on the day Battler died." with a stern look, "And, do pay attention this time, so I don't have to repeat myself again."
First and foremost, it's important to note that I had made plans with Sunny, to go dog hunting on Saturday. We made these plans around Wednesday, after saving her life of course during the teleportation class. Daisy was also in on these plans, but Daisy had something else to do on Saturday.
Secondly, Sunny and Battler were teammates during the weapons event at the festival. Why is this important? Because they had linking blue stickers, some of which you made have experienced first hand. They were absolutely inseparable. In fact, I even have it written down in my journal I was keeping as the time, in which any of you can read. I texted Sunny before sleeping on Friday night, and she took me about her date with Battler at the cafe Saturday morning. And thus, my first plan was to meet with them on Saturday.
Now then, here's what happened that day.
[Action 1] Instead of going to the train station to venture outwards into the city, I stayed within terminal one and went to the café. It was early morning so there still weren't very many people around, there were a few families having early morning breakfast, Hiruma Kuniaki was pressed into a corner booth seemingly face-deep in a book while Kouma Haru was in a waitress outfit stumbling her way around serving customers. Ushiromiya Battler found a lone booth for two, and sat on it with Sunada Okemia, Shiro Akari sat in his own booth sipping tea and reading a local newspaper. All the while, I stood by the entrance… looking for Sunny and her date.
[Action 2] Battler, Sunada, and I left the café and headed onto the next train to go to Terminal Two. In the same carriage as us were a multitude of students, such as Miki, Katsuki, Shiro and Athena. Katsuki had Kim in tow, Miki had a disgruntled and livid Yumi in tow. Everybody but Shiro collectively got off at Terminal Two and ventured together into the centre of Tsuki. I also noticed from the other side of the stop Kang, Kira (with Ranna in tow) and Tenga going into the central district of the city.
Sunada, Battler, and I were able to easily spot a large cluster of people around what we assumed to be the adoption centre and we wondered over. In a large grassy area fenced off by gates seemed to be a large array of free roaming dogs, and in another were cats. Hyuga Jasper sat by one of the cats, playing with its paws and beaming at it. Tsuri was playing with dogs. Someone [unnamed NPC] guided us in to take a look, and asked us what we were looking for.
Pay attention here, because I'm only saying it once. I don't want to talk about the details again, but I'll get as vivid as I need to.
[Action 3] [adoption centre] Pets! About a hundred are presented in the large yard before us, bunched up in kennels and behind wired fences! There were Pomeranians, calicos, gingerbeards, weimaraners, some have disabilities, some are fluffy, some are cuddly- everybody that saw them were enthused and enraptured by their utter adorableness, and Battler was no exception. He found himself with me and Sunada, with Tsuri making herself busy in the cat pen, surveying all the dogs with vigour! Us three conversed happily amongst ourselves, unaware of just what tragedy was about the befall us. Sunada was playing with a large husky, her hands intertwined with its fur and it nuzzles itself against her hands, and I made myself comfortable with a small shiatzu. Battler seemed to have gathered quite the doggy crowd.
I watched as Battler threw a tennis balls to the fluffballs with much vigor, a big, excitable grin on his face as he watched them chase the ball, but when he threw it again the wind happened to pick up, and the ball launched itself outside the pen. The dogs whined as they were unable to get it so Battler ventured outside the gated principal, unaware he left the gate open. I saw him curiously from where I was nestled with a dog. He bent down and his hand gently cupped the ball, and he went to bring it up to his chest, however the wind began whipping hysterically. I dove for cover within the dog pen and squinted against the wind, the sudden gusts making it hard to see everything. However, I did manage to make out Battler tripping backwards- right into a plethora of large, slobbering dogs glaring beyond the wind in an attempt to reclaim their prized ball- all who had found themselves there due to the open gate.
Battler was sent slamming into the ground, the impact knocking the wind out of him and dazing him momentarily, the ball still clutched tightly in his hand which is positioned under him. I could barely make out the dogs slobbering in dissatisfaction of their inability to grab their ball and decided to try new measures, a large wolfhound dove first at Battler, knocking into his side with his muzzle in an attempt to make him roll over, however Battler didn't budge an inch, so the five other dogs around him began prodding and poking, then one gnawed right into Battler’s side- he screamed and then suddenly it was cut off. I noticed as Sunada, who was playing with the dogs, mimicked his scream and was sent slamming into the ground, thrashing about and crying, the dog she was with began whimpering as it watched over her. The area with her sticker glowed.
I squinted back in Battler’s direction and watch as he simply patted one of the dogs that brutally attacked him, his free hand moving up to play with one of the dogs ears- however the dog growled at him and clamped his canine teeth down hard into his hand, biting through it and causing what I think is b-blood to squirt out- the ball fell out of Battler’s hand and tumbled to the ground, however the beefy dogs had found a "new, more enjoyable toy". They took turns rapidly biting into Battler’s skin as the sticker pulsed calmness and happiness through Battlers mind, forcing him to not act out, to remain still- or so I believe, through my observations of the sticker earlier that day. Sunada was reacting at Battler within the pen, the large dog she was laying with attempting to nuzzle into her side as she screamed and cried- I heard as Battler began laughing like an insane man, blood being spat out as six beefy dogs ravaged him.
I rushed over, seeing as Sunada seemed a little well off, and in a panic attempt to push away the dogs from Battler, however they turn on me instead, scratching and biting at my arm and causing immeasurable pain, I tried desperately to bat them away however in one final attempt to help somebody, I only cried as Battler raised one of his arms and grabbed the ball he had dropped, throwing it at one of the dogs- and in utter ferocity the once tame beast launched itself at Battler, a creamy golden retriever who was supposed to be the most docile of the bunch-
I heard him mumble the name ‘Ruffy’-
Its sharp teeth clamped itself around his neck, and bit down hard, Battler let out a whimper and I watched as his eyes glaze over, settling on the dog before him as the dog feasted upon his neck, crunching noises, snaps of bone, pops of muscle- that’s all I heard... I watched as his eyes faded over and he took his last breath- then the dog’s all began gnawing on his body...
Eventually, the adoption lady came over with a tazer and knocked out all of the dogs-
I went back to Sunada.
She was on the floor. A dog was whimpering over her body. I couldn't tell if she was dead or alive, but she stopped moving.
