Game #75 Trial 1: Finding the Truth in a Sea of Lies

Viola's eyes were glazed over as she recalled all the results of her investigation. Of course, the head injury had impaired her mental capacity, so she skipped most of what was being said. Finally, she looked around the room and began to speak up.

"Let me... tell you everything I know about this case..."

"I found Ulrik Jansen's body under the Rec Room's ceiling fan, hanged by the cord that serves as its switch. His mouth was open with a circular bruise on it. In addition, some of his teeth were pushed inwards. I suppose the volleyball caused this, and was used to render the victim unconscious. I checked his tongue to find that it was swollen and bluish, a common sign of death by hanging. There were also pieces of paper in his mouth, and I surmise they came from a larger whole, though I couldn't read the contents since they were corroded by saliva. Some of the paper was down his throat. I suppose this could also be the method of murder.

"There are no other injuries on the victim's head, and no signs of blood on his body. I looked at his clothing and the clothes on his back were disturbed. It could be likely he was dragged to be hanged after the initial assault. A chair is underneath the body, but he is hanging overhead and does not make contact. A switchblade is loosely held in the victim's right hand (make note that he is ambidextrous). The knife appears to have been used, though it lacks any marks or stains."

"I had a hunch... My intuition tells me that the switchblade was taken from the Storage Room, so I drew the path I believe it was brought through to the Rec Room."

"Oh... It was nice of Mister Rogers to encourage me to search more, but I didn't find anything of interest in the Briefing Room -- this room..."

"Hey guys, guess what I found in the gym storage? Nothing~! It's like we're searching for deleted emails!"

[Izumiko (Emi)]

"You found pieces of paper in the victim´s mouth, Viola? I g-guess that does explain the things I found that might have been missed at the Crime Scene... Uhm... Here. I will do my best to share what I know."

Yukiko spoke softly with intrigue. She absentmindedly rubbed her arms and wrists, as she started to explain her findings.


"Now. I don´t really feel like repeating what was already said... Broken pool sticks, used tape, glue, volleyball with and indent, blah, blah..."

Yukiko spoke with an indifferent tone, before switching it into a more serious one.

"...so allow me to get straight on point. I have been in the Rec room for a short while. Thus, I was able to tell that the pool table has been slightly moved in position. There are drag marks starting from the body and leading to the pool table.
Switching focus to the felt by the doorway... It came from the pool table. The cuts match. I assumed something sharp like a knife cut it out. There were also 4 square marks  on the felt. I am deducing that it´s from a chair. So a chair was placed on top of the felt.


Now, onto the more interesting part, I found something hidden on the wall behind the door. It was covered in duct tape and glued to the wall, which explains the empty glue bottle.
That hidden item was some newspaper. And... there is saliva on that paper... Creepy and disgusting as it is... But it was hidden... So it must have some meaning to it? Just like how the felt was cut off from the pool table."

"As a small detail, there are scuff marks near the body that kind of looked like a one-sided struggle took place. Poor guy didn´t have a chance."

Yukiko paused for a second. Thinking about something. Soon enough, she spoke again.

"As of what can be deduced so far..."

Out of nowhere, Yukiko suddenly had her glasses on.


"Since I´ve been told this is a closed room murder, the 2 broken pool sticks were what blocked the door entrance. The door opens inwards and counterclockwise. That explains why the sticks broke from pressure and why there is tape at the ends of the sticks and tape on each side of the doorframe.

Furthermore, the hidden piece of newspaper was apparently shoved into the victim´s mouth, as creepy as it sounds, but it matches the info that was given from Viola. I do not see the motive of shoving paper into someone´s mouth too clearly though. Wasn´t he already choking by the pull switch?

Next, my guess is that the switchblade knife did indeed belong to the killer. How else were they supposed to cut off the felt of the pool table? The victim was also holding it loosely which only proves the point further. Stating the obvious, our killer must have been at the Storage Room.

I do still question the involving of the pool table and the felt... Probably to reach the ceiling..? I am not quite sure, but it seems like the pool table itself was moved right below the ceiling fan, then a chair was put on top of it. Once the use was done, the chair was taken off, the table was moved back to it´s place and the felt was cut off... Maybe I messed the order up..?

In any case, that is all I know so far."

"Both of my investigations showed up with the same report.

Nothing."


"Howevah... mawma can tell you dis. Here was my actions.

1- I was leaving the Briefing Room. Shizuka pointed her PDA thang at Natalia, and she fell unconscious. Shizuka headed to the southern hall, until this nutcase-ass Dan hugged me! I pushed him, and then I walked in the Pool Room. I was alone.

2- When my fat ass left the pool, I found Steve leavin the gym. I met him in the West Hallway, and we passed the Briefing Room. I got suspicious, because while doing so, I saw Koshiko searching Natalie for items. Dan, well, I thank his busted ass likes me! He followed me, or at least near my direction, so I went into the East Hallway. Steve and I enter the Infirmary. I saw Oliver taking some meds, so I asked him if he was good. He ignored meh.

3- Still in the Infirmary, Steve took pills. Oliver headed north, and I headed south, with Steve. I passed through the Briefing Room and saw Koshiro on the floor, beaten up! Scared, I ran into the North Hallway. While I was leaving, Kyandi entered the room from the West Hallway, and Steve turned east. I headed into the Cafeteria, and then into the Kitchen. There, I saw a note on the fridge. An eyelash got in my eye, and I couldn't read it...

4- I left da Cafeteria and entered the Gym, seeing Steve leave the Storage Room.

5- Natalia left the Gym Storage, and I entered the Cafeteria, where Steve was heading in my direction. Oma was in there, and pointed his PDA at me."

" As you all know I was knocked out right at the start of the night! I was knocked out for a while before I woke up to see Koshiro leaning over me, pretending to help me! Little did he know... Satan always watches his worshippers, Satan granted me the strength to beat him up, get my pda back and take his. "

" while going to the gym storage I saw Yuu and Kyandi leave the music room, I saw Ulrick walk from the northeest enterance while in the gym I then entered the gym storage. "

" Here is where it gets interesting, Koshiro took my pda to destroy it! His clear condition is that he must destroy 5 pdas, so don't trust him "

" I checked all of this while inside the gym storage room. I then got out and saw Latrice in the gym heading north, as I made my way to the rec room to make posters for the show!!! However I saw Yuu outside the door with a knife and a cleaver in his hands. I broke down the door as Yuu and me entered to see his body hanging from the fan, Yuu and me then informed everyone "

" I checked the pool and lounge, there was nothing of note in both places. "

"Alright. I can confirm that Natalia is speakin da' truth.

...But mawma ain't done yet."


"You walked right into the scene of the crime! Though I know you aren't the killuh, you gotta be more careful!

Ulrik died in a struggle, and then da killer hanged him, obviously. I think the volleyball could of been thrown at his face to cause the bruise, which pushed his teeth inward, like Viola said. The paper in Ulrik's mouth could of been put there because the killer wanted something hidden, and knew that if it was messed up by dat saliva, we wouldn't know what it said! Yukiko even mentioned it could of had meaning...

But, could the killer of knocked him out, then hanged him so he'd die of suffocation? That would make the dragging of the body part true. I think that chair Viola mention is staged there, too, and the switchblade was placed in his hand after he died."

But that's all I know. Inform mawma now, please!"

"Alright so you guys are curious as to what i got up to, that makes sense.

First i... you all saw... had my fun with Natalia before running off to the south hallway, i checked out that entrance to room 20, i thought i should tell you guys but we could definitely open it, on either side of the locked door is 2 scanners, one with 4 spades, one with 4 hearts, assuming we've all got them on our PDA's we need to work together to open this.

Next i ran clockwise through the halls, i knocked out Yukiko as she was leaving the rec. room and went to the kitchen. I found a ton of cooking and eating utensils, like the drawers are full.

Then i headed to the dorm area, i saw the victim coming from the northeast hall going towards the northwest. When i was in the dorm area i saw trouble when Oma was carrying Yukiko around so i knocked him out, making sure he didn't try to take advantage of her.

I apologised for what i did to and i ran through the halls to the empty room, on my way i saw Akua and before i realised i knocked her out. In the empty room i saw 5 coloured buttons, that was about it, i don't think it was related to the crime but i saw a pool of blood in the empty room and a trail leading to the doorway.

After that i went in to the infirmary and looked at what items they had, before i knew i'd knocked out Oliver so i left the room, Viola was on the bed with bandages on her head, i went back to where i left Akua and made sure nobody took her PDA.

Thus ends the night."

[Nana]

Nana stares at Viola.

"I've investigate the Kitchen and music room. A knife and a cleaver seem to have been taken along with a bag from the kitchen. From the music room a can of soda and a recorder seem to have been taken. Aside from that, there is nothing else of note."

[Tetsu]

Koshiro chuckles and stares at Natalia.
"Alright guess the cat's out of the bag then...ad I'll tell you my alibi and you guys decide if you want to punish me for my Survivalist skills or you would go after the real killer."

He paused then points at Shizuka " We all saw her pointing her PDA and knocked out Natalia a.k.a Satan follower. Now that's more dangerous as she could knocked us out and leave us for the killer to finish the job." He paused. "I also saw Shizuka took off down the southern hallway and then I noticed Dan hugging Latrice but got pushed away and she left to the west hallway."

He takes a breather.

"I then continued to the north hallway with Oma,Yuu,Auka,Kyandi and the victim Ulrik. Then I saw Yuu and Kyandi split and head towards the Cafeteria . Then after awhile Auka and Ulrik headed east from where we were . Then I continued to make my way With Oma and head towards the Storage Room . There was many stuff in it and Oma was searching for something and then I ran out of there as fast and head to the Briefing Room .

He paused . "Well I don't think we would say what happened there. And took my PDA too so we're even arent we. I wasted two actions on her. One to take the PDA and the other I got punched by her." He stares at Satan Follower.

"For the 4th action . Being dazed I tried finding her and when to the West Hallway and I saw Yuu at Room 9 examine the door. And I enter the Music Room .

"I saw Dan in there checking the Sodas and I gave him a hug and then I left. I decided to head over to Room 18 trying to opened it. On the way there I saw Auka on the floor unconscious in the Briefing Room.

He stopped and looked at Auka.

"I had the chance to steal your PDA but I didn't bother cause if I die at least I live my life in here to the fullest with memories that I'll take to my grave." He gave them a sincere smile. "Then I went to the Room 18 door and got the riddle and that's when the announcement was made."

[Sara Soul]

"A-Ah, we're giving alibi's now...? Um, okay..." Kora took another deep breath and spoke quietly.
"I guess I'll give mine now..."

Kora took in a large deep breath, then started to explain the nightly events.

"1 - Before we all left the briefing room, Shizuka pointed her PDA at Natalia, who fell unconscious before Shizuka went down the southern hall. I also saw Dan run over and hug Latrice, but she pushed him off and went to the west hallway. I went to the north hallway with Koshiro, Auka, Yuu, Ouma, and Ulrik. Koshiro and Ouma split off, heading west, while Auka and Ulrik went east. Yuu and I both passed through the cafeteria and entered the kitchen. In there, I made everyone some chocolates while Yuu took a kitchen knife.
2 - After I finished making them, I put them in a small bag and left; heading to the music room with Yuu following me. As we were leaving the cafeteria, we saw Shizuka coming from the northwest hallway and heading the way we came from, while we passed through the north hallway. When we got near the briefing room, we saw Koshiro with Natalia; who was already awake. I ignored them and continued my way to the west hallway with yuu, then the music room. When Yuu and I got there, I saw Dan looking around. I went up to him to offer him a piece of chocolate. I offered Yuu a piece of chocolate as well.
3 - Dan and Yuu had accepted my offer, and then Dan gave me a hug. I just smiled at him before Yuu and I left the room. As we were leaving, we saw Natalia running from the direction of the briefing room and heading further west. Yuu went over to room 9 to examine the door while I continued towards the briefing room. As I was passing by, I saw Koshiro lying on the floor, beaten up. Steve and Latrice came from the south hallway and went towards the north hallway while I went to the south hallway, and turned east to the empty room. In there, I saw Nana, Auka, Oliver, and Viola. Viola was lying unconscious near a wall and was bleeding from her head.
4 - Of course, I had to help her! But I knew I couldn't do it alone, so I asked the others in the room to help me take her to the infirmary. Auka just ignored me and went over to Nana to poke her teasingly before leaving the room. Luckily, Oliver helped me, along with Nana. So the three of us began to carry Viola's body to the infirmary. We passed through the southeast, then through the south hallway until we got there. Once there, we set her onto a bed. I grabbed some bandages and alcohol to treat viola's head wound and stop the bleeding.
5 - After I finished treating Viola, I went back to the empty room. As I was passing the south intersection, I heard someone yelling from the southwest hallway and saw Shizuka coming from the southeast hallway, heading to where I came from. I then continued on through the southeast hallway until I got to the empty room. I then went over to a panel I had seen in the room earlier and pressed the buttons on said panel in no particular order. Nothing happened, though."

After finishing her alibi, Kora started panting heavily. She had said all that in one breath, after all.

[Ktoasty]

"There are two people who have yet to give a very useful alibi." Dan looked to them. "Yuu and Yukiko, you both went to the Rec Room last night. What are your stories?"

Auka fans herself, resting her elbows on the podium as she listens to others. Amidst a silence, she takes her turn to speak. "What happened was atrocious. I can confirm what Nana said about the kitchen. There was also a bag missing." She clicks her tongue, "Using a special searching method, I can confirm four people went into the rec room during the night. Yukiko, Ulrik, Natalia and Yuu." Letting out a soft sigh, she bows her head, "It really is a shame, what occurred... may Ulrik's soul rest in peace."

Taking a deep breath, Auka starts explaining her action. "I went to the lounge with Ulrik action one. I drunk tea, Ulrik did nothing suspicious. I then made my way to the empty room, I passed Dan who left his room and took the east hallway, Oliver left his and we both went southeast. I went into the empty room, he continued going..."
She raises a hand dramatically to her head, "It was awful. Viola was bleeding from her head and Nana was unconscious! I smelt a strange substance, and fell into an unconscious state." She sighs, "I woke up at the end of action 3. Oliver was  in the room, Kyandi entered."

She licks her lips, "Kyandi wanted me to do something, however I was busy. Extremely sorry, Kyandi. I ventured towards the music room, however as I passed the briefing room I ran into Shizuka, who was coming from the north hallway. I was knocked out by a rolling pin by the girl... I woke up at the end of action 5, Shizuka was standing near me." Auka tilts her head, "I apologize if it did not make sense, my English is still uncertain."

[Izumiko (Emi)]

"Ah, m-my alibi. Right... I did go to the Rec Room to investigate, as soon as the night started (action 1)

2 - However, just as I was about to leave the Rec Room, Shizuka had suddenly approached me and knocked me out cold with her PDA... Even now I still don´t understand why.

Yukiko kept rubbing her arms more consciously as she continued


3 - "Once I came to conciousness again, I had no idea what happened. I just saw Oma unconscious in front of me and near him was Shizuka who was holding a rolling pin. Nevermind that fact that my arms were tied up with a rope.

4 - I was still pretty confused. Shizuka apologized to me, yet I just wanted to get these ropes off me. So I ran to the Storage Room and tried to free myself. It was a failed first attempt though. And I was alone.


5 - "My 2nd attempt was successful though. With restricted movement, I managed to grab a small knife and free myself. Which is why there are rope pieces left on the floor. I then left to check out one of the locked door. Nana entered the Storage at that time. That was when everyone got alerted of a discovered body.
Sorry for that, but I practically have next to no alibi info at all..."

"There are still some more alibis to go, but the ones that I'd really like to hear are from Yuu and Kokichi. Yuu, you were one of the people to enter the Rec Room, and Kokichi, you were the one carrying Yukiko after she was knocked out at the Rec Room." Dan nodded. "These alibis could definitely help solve this case."
