Attention all yoctograms!
It seems that you silly fractorals wish to play a game. Fine, I'll oblige you. But we're playing by my rules. Here's your first mission.
1) sin 90° = 60
Welcome to Anniversary Game 3: Nearly 1 Month Late Edition. My name's
First of all, congrats on your 3rd year, DRG. This past
The original plan for the Anniversary Game was for me to start it on the site's actual Anniversary - February 12th. Unfortunately, due to IRL circumstances including having a temporary complete lack of car, I wasn't up to the daunting task of hosting, especially not for such a big Game. As such, my original prep work fell by the wayside, and we won't be using it here. Instead, this Game will be using the system I know and very much love - DRG v2.0. Following is an explanation for the uninitiated.
DRG V2.0 Rules/Description
V2.0 has 6 phases:
1)Sign-Up's
2)Blackened Confirmation+Plan
3)Deadly Life
4)Trial
5)Results + Blackened Plan
6)Repeat from 3
Sign-Up's
All aspiring players post in this thread with a link to their application, or a this-game-only application, somewhere in their post or signature. Applications need to consist of your character's name, SHSL, skill, 2 weapon proficiencies and a picture of your character. Weapon proficiencies are Sharp/Blunt/Projectile. This phase lasts as long as the host wants it to; this time around, I aim to close Sign-Up's 14:00 EST on Monday, March 6th - ~60 hours from posting of Sign-Up's. That may or may not last longer, no promises. When Sign-Up's close, a Blackened is chosen.
SKILLS
Lockpick - Can investigate players' rooms. Costs 1 IC per room.
Hacker - Can investigate the security footage in the Media Room. Costs 2 IC.
Anatomist - Can investigate the victim's body. Costs 1 IC.
Investigator - Receives 2 additional IC.
Tracker New! - Can track the movements of... someone. Costs 2 IC - Can choose either to track some of the movements of 2 people, most of the movements of 1, or all of the movement of the victim.
Vini - Does absolutely nothing. Really. Nothing whatsoever.
Blackened Plan
In this phase, the chosen Blackened has 36 hours to both confirm or deny their status as Blackened, and to make up a plan killing someone. Plans are just a written description, as detailed as you'd like, of how the Blackened would like to (realistically!) kill another player sent to the host (me) via PM. In this Game, the first victim will be an NPC created by me, so everyone who signs up will be able to participate for at least 1 Trial. I may or may not do this more than once. If the chosen player decides to pass on being the Blackened, the 24 hour timer will restart once I choose another Blackened. Once a plan has been sent, the Blackened will enact that plan as I see fit - The Blackened's job is to create an unsolvable murder mystery, but my job is to make that mystery solvable.
Deadly Life
Oh no! Someone died! It's time to investigate the school and find evidence that points to a killer. During this phase, everyone - Blackened included - has 2 Investigation Credits (IC) to spend on investigating the various rooms of the school (the maps are later in the post). Only the first floor is accessible during the first murder, and subsequent floors are unlocked during each Results. In this phase, you can spend 1 IC to scan a room, kinda just looking around, to see what you see at a glance, 2 IC to In-Depth a room, thoroughly investigating a room, or spend your IC on your skill, if such applies. If you In-Depth a room, you are both allowed and encouraged to ask follow up questions to your investigation results. In-Depth'ing a room may or may not actually give you all of the nitty gritty details of a room - that depends on how thorough and detailed the Blackened was with their plan. Simply PM the host (still me) with how you want to spend your credits to actually conduct your investigation. This phase will last between 24-48 hours.
Trial
The best part of DRG. Everyone gets to compare evidence, theories, and discuss/vote on who they think did it. At the end of the Trial, whomever has the highest votes dies. Pretty standard, though you might hear from an extra voice this Game...
Results
In the Results phase, whomever is believe to have been Guilty is executed. If the Blackened has been caught 3 times, all the surviving players have won! If the Blackened has gotten away with murder twice in a row, the Blackened has won. At the start of this phase, a new Blackened will be chosen if necessary, and the cycle restarts at Phase 2. If not, the current Blackened will only have 24 hours to submit their new plan.
Maps
Remember these, guys? They're back. As a reminder, only floor 1 (both areas) is open at the start of the Game.

If anyone so needs, I'll give a key sometime tomorrow (it's 01:35, I need to sleep).
If anyone is inactive for the multiple-day period of a single murder (starting at the Deadly Life and ending as soon as Results are posted), or if someone picked to be the Blackened fails to respond within their time limit, they shall be executed at the Results phase.
Sounds interesting, but a couple of things. 1 Is Shsl purely superficial now? Or do we still have talents? 2 Personally I vastly prefer roleplay over murder solving (still enjoy that part tho). I guess the question is does roleplay still have a big part in this game, or is it purely logical crime solving? I'll play either way, just curious.
Roleplaying is not a very large factor. While SHSL's are not only superficial, and have the potential to be linked to dorm room descriptions, what your character was doing the day of the murder, or possibly even evidence, they won't have an overally large inpact on the Game. Also, while roleplaying is allowed, while in the Trial phases, posts consisting of purely RP that don't contribute any of your ideas will be removed (so while a post of "*Minamimoto pulls out his microphone and yells about how his voice shakes the heart*" would be removed, an in-character post that basically consists of "I agree" would not.)
I'm going to move the rules to a different post when I have time and a computer later today.
I think that about covers everything. Please, ask any lingering questions, and may the odds be ever in Minamimoto's favor.
