Alright here is my idea...
In the current game there is investigation system where you either scan or in-depth search the area, now this investigation system has an allowance for those with special skills to go and get info from special areas
-Crime Scene (speaks for itself)
-Hacker (media center)
-Lockpick (student dorms)
-Anatomy (the body)
Now as I see it people will usually spend their whole investigation credits 2 to go to one of these areas and in-depth and get all the info available, people also rarely spend 1 credit and scan their special area but that's rare anyway.
What I am suggesting is every person gets a sub-skill along with their chosen skill...similar to how in D&D a person can take levels in another class...to explain lets say an Anatomist Jekyll wanted to have the sub-skill of Hacker. Now Jekyll can chose either to investigate the body or hack the media center for footage, ahh! but there is a catch (isn't there always) he must use both investigation credits for a scan of the media center. That's right Sub-Skills require 2 credits to perform a scan.
Now this means say all your hackers are dead you can still get some info from the area that has become inaccessible.
The other special skills won't benefit as much or at all depending on skill
-Defender
(The person that is defended is alive but isn't allowed to talk for one trial but can still investigate and show results)
-Investigator
(The person receives one extra investigation credit if they find nothing after and in-depth search)
-All-Rounder
(can't think of one, that is not OP)
-Vini(nothing)
I also thought that these sub-skills deserved new names
Crime Scene ->assistant
Hacker->Coder
Lockpick->Locksmith
Anatomy->medic
Defender->Samaritan
Investigator->Snooper
All-Rounder->
Vini->Normalist
