O-hoho, at long last, the night comes to an end. The guests have all been quite busy (save one or two), and decide to retire to the living room to get what rest they can before the day begins.
They trickle in little by little, alone or in small groups, oh, how many? Four, then five, then nine, ten, eleven, twelve, then... Thirteen in all. Just thirteen?
The thirteen in the living room begin to wonder where the last two have gone. When was the last time anyone saw that person? A silent chill falls over the air.
...and is interrupted by the creaking of the front door, followed by panting and crashing footsteps. Bellamy runs into the room, face pale and sweat dripping from his brow as he finally manages to blurt out:
"I-it's Madeline! In the graveyard! She's—she's..."
He stops and doubles over, choking back the urge to vomit. You all understand what has happened. It was only natural.
What a lovely night for a murder.
Looks like it's time to investigate!
You may discuss here where you plan to investigate, but if you'd prefer, you may PM your investigation locations to Peregrine via DRG or Discord. For the purposes of investigation, the body is considered a unique area to search.
Remember, you have 3 credits with which to investigate. It costs 1 credit to Scan an area, 2 credits to Deeply Search an area, and 1 additional credit to differentiate evidence of a purely ghostly origin for any single search action. Don't let those vengeful spirits throw you off!
To summarize, your options are as follows:
- Scan 3 areas
- Scan 1 area and Deeply Search 1 area
- Scan 1 area (detecting ghost evidence) and Scan 1 area (without detecting ghost evidence)
- Deeply Search 1 area (detecting ghost evidence)
Ah, one last thing...
On unsteady feet, the group moves to the graveyard through the greenhouse back door, and arrives to find a familiar skeleton standing over an open grave, jotting notes on a piece of paper. You look into the grave to find the pale, dead body of Madeline, a deep wound in her chest soaking blood into her sweater. Though her face is almost peaceful, she is undoubtedly dead.
